3.1 Sample at Rbabarrab. Low but lasting fluffy white head. Hazy amber body. Mild acidic straw prunes aroma and flavor with little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a short finish.
4.0 Bottle at Lambicus in Barcelona, 2014-15. Mostly clear golden with a nice white head. Aroma is plummy, pruney funkiness. Flavor is bitingly tart, lots of stone fruit, funk. The feel is very crisp, acidic, medium carbonation. Good one. More subtle on the fruit but still super legit.
3.3 Bottle (375 ml) from Systembolaget. Murky orange. Fruity aroma, notes of grapes, minerally, bretty. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Dry, sharp acidty.
3.7 The aroma is fruity, slightly sour. Plum in the flavor is quite difficult to find. Muddy from yeast, yellow beer with good white foam. In taste unripe, green plum, acidity is above average. Body medium, high carbonation.
4.0 Bottle at share. Always have a tough time with with sours, so I can't always distinguish one from the other, but I can detect one that is superlative. That's the case with this one. Silky smooth, light tartness and wonderful fruity flavors.
4.4 0,375l bottle @ Tuulensuu. Pours cloudy golden with a medium head. Aroma is sour malts with some fruits. Flavor is very sour malts, plums, vinegar. Tasty.
3.7 I was lucky to be at L’autre œil as they were showcasing Tilquin last weekend. I was offered to try this one. Not bad, but not my style, yet. ;)
3.8 W aromacie średnio intensywnie, zdecydowanie na pierwszym planie koń, skóra, siano, lekka słodkość. W smaku klasyczne nuty gueze z nutką słodyczy ze śliwek. Zdecydowanie kwaśnie, derka, siano. Wszystko poprawnie zbalansowane.
Ostatecznie uśredniam i podciągam ocenę do 3.9. Nie przejmując się stylami bardzo dobry lambik.
4.0 Barwa pomarańczowa, zmętniona. W aromacie derka, mokra trawa, derka, nuty funky.
3.8 Tilquin Quetsche Prunes de Namur 6.4% A much funnier aroma than the regular, a bit fuller bodied and more acidic as well. The taste is woodsy, nutty, putty and acidic. Good stuff and a rare treat, much less fruit though.
4.1 2020-08-30, corked bottle, 2015/2016, 4+ years old, 8-4-8-4-17=41 Intense aroma, funk, manure. Robust Lambic, sour but not excessive, the Lambic character is bold, the fruit is mild and perfectly highlighting and complementing the Lambic. As it warms up, it gets more juicy. Excellent. 2018-05-27, corked half bottle, 3+ years old, 8-3-8-4-17=40 Cloudy golden colour with light pink hue. Strong horseblanket aroma with fruit character. Strong acidity, but also strong horseblanket character, sour stone fruits, wood, lightly peppery. Excellent.
3.9 Hazy, basically a peachy coloured amber, and not much head. Mellow fruit- plum - and lots of wood. Sweet plum notes then turning to sharp acidity, again with woody dryness. The plums really come out as it warms.
4.0 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy amber pour with a thin off white head, aroma has sour fruits, taste has red grapes, some vanilla action, tart fruits, dark fruits.
3.9 Bottle @ Kufle i Kapsle, Warsaw 20180429. Fruity and acidic, bretty and woody, medium body. The finish is dry, fruity and acidic.
4.0 Bottle @ Kufle i Kapsle, Warsaw 29/4-18. Fruity and bretty with grapes and wood/oak, also acidic. Body is medium, the finish is dry, fruity and acidic.
4.0 Bottle @ kufle i kapsle, Warszaw. Pours a bronze like colour beer with a smal head. Bretty and woody with pleasant notes of plums. Dry finish.
4.1 Bottle at Nacht van de Grote Dorst. Cloudy red golden with a lasting white head. Aroma of funk, plums, grapefruit and wood. Dry and tart fruity flavour with plums and dried prunes. My impression is that the regular has more plum, and this has more tartness
4.2 Bottle on the roof at home. Hazy golden with white head. Sour grain, prunes and apricot, fruitstone, grapes, unripe peach, sweaty horseblanket funk, barnyard hay, high pitched sour, flint sparks or gunpowder-like metallic notes. Light sweet, moderate bitter and quite strong sourness. Massive fruity tartness. Medium body and soft carbonation. Very nice!
3.9 Bottle from Malts Attack. Hazy yellow color, white head. Sour taste with citrus, prunes, sour apple, acidic notes, earthy notes and toast. Sour finish with citrus, prunes, sour apple, wheat, toast and a bit of tart. Excellent lambic.
3.7 0.375 l bottle from 'Hopfenrausch', bottled in January 2016. Hazy, golden yellow with a purple touch and a medium large, fluffy, quickly diminishing, white head. Sourish-fruity, moderately funky aroma of lemon, rhubarb, horseblanket and some plum. Just a little sweet, medium sour, quite fruity and slightly funky taste of lemon, rhubarb, some horseblanket, a touch of plum and traces of vinegar, followed by a medium long, quite tart, dry finish. Medium body, quite astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Less sour and acidic than the other fruit lambics from Tilquin I've tried so far, even rather quaffable, still not as complex or sophisticated as the style allows for.
4.0 Bottle @ home. Love it. Dusty, fruity, right amount of sourness. Looks absolutely shit but that doesn't matter. Medium body, nice carbo.
4.1 Bottle. Aroma of green plums, stone fruit, brett, light citrus. Hazy pink golden, no carb. Taste is moderate sour, dry, green plum. Light body, dry feel and green stone fruit finish.
4.2 Bottle shared by a friend, thanks John! 2015-2016 edition "with Prunes de Namur." Slightly hazy golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of funk, oak, lemon. Tastes of citrus, tart lemon, funk, flowery notes. Light body with a dry finish. Very nice.
3.6 Bottle: Poured a reddish amber color lambic with a light bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of plums pits is dominant with nice funky notes and light acidic notes also noticeable. Taste is a mix of plums pits with funky barnyard notes with some oak and acidity notes also noticeable. Body is about average for style with very low carbonation. Nice plums taste but a little bit too much acidity and lacking some carbonation.
3.6 Bottle from Beerdome.nl. Sourish fruity beginning. The plums are sour in the back, intense fruity. The beer is round in the back, fruity funky. Moderate sour. Nice and refreshing but I remember the “normal” Quetsche to be more round and smooth. Fruity sour, refreshing and very nice sour-smooth.
3.9 Bottle in Rudy's Loft. Pours a hazy blonde color with a small head and some lacing on the glass. The aroma is fruity and a little bit metallic. Plenty of fruit & plenty of funk. Some mild spice components. Odd, complex, cool. The flavor is absolutely delicious, tart & fairly dry but maybe not as dry as a lot of lambic I've had as of late, certainly far from problematic. It's fruit component is a bit of plum & a bit of lemon with a nice fleshy red apple component. Certainly shows it's oakiness. very nice, not really an improvement from the original, but certainly a pleasant deviation.
4.2 Bottle at the Black Lodge brewery tap. Murky amber. No head. Musty sour fruit aroma. Huge sour fruit flavour. Rich lemon curd tart and plum. Exceptional.
