3.6 Poured from the tap. Slightly hazy medium dark brown with beige head. Funk, mild acidic tartness, touch of cherry, hint of wood, very subtle chocolate note. Decent.
3.6 Tap at Ambasada., shared with Hrabren (thanks!). Murky brown body, off-white head. Creamy cocoa malty notes mixed with light dusty, funky notes in the aroma. The same combo appears in the taste - creamy cocoa before funky and phenolic notes, herbal as well. Quite nice and smooth. Interesting combo, but I'm not sure I'd go for it that often. I am, however, interested in trying the base stout.
3.3 Nice deep brown body and okay light beige foam. Good chewy funky brun yeast aroma, soft maltiness, lots of Flanders Red character. Taste is malty funk, brett yeast, ending a little too thin. If it wasn't so wet this would be spectacular.
4.0 Donkerbruin roodachtig bier. Zuurte neemt toe met de smaak. Geuzebier met kersetoets. Lekker. Licht bier in textuur. Aan te raden
3.7 Tap @ Tap Room Madrid, Madrid, Spain. Reddish brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is brett, vinegar, dried fruits. Taste is brett, vinegar, prunes, oak, tart. Medium body, average carbonation.
4.0 Funky fruit aroma in a reddish brown pour. Tart taste is balanced with hints of caramel and wood and wood. A unique brew - and one that is more enjoyable for it.
4.0 From the corked and caged 750 ml. bottle with 2018-2019 on the front label and an expiration date of 12/04/2021. I think this is a collaboration. The appearance is dark brown with reddish hues when held to the light and a lingering, soft tan head. Some lacing. A handsome looking beer. Yes, the tartness of the green apple, green grapes, and wild yeast hit the nose immediately along with a lower profile but evident roasted malt, cocoa, and nuttuiness. Smooth, medium to full mouthfeel. Interestingly, while the aroma emits the tartness up front, the flavor begins with cocoa, nuts, and roasted malts before the explosion of tart apples and grape overtake it and linger on the palate toward the end. Only 7% ABV but it sure feels stronger.
3.8 On tap at Ambasada Zagreb. Almost black coloured, small to medium sized pale beige head, dried fruits and mild caramel in the nose. Sour fruity, caramel, light dried fruits and touch of spices with rather dry sourish finish.
3.8 On tap at Ambasada. Zagreb. Shared with Plish. Dark reddish brown, small beige head. Aroma is acidic, vinegar, sour fruit, prunes, red wine, aceto balsamico. Funky touch. Moderate sourness, higher carbonation. Powdery texture. Toasty component, dried fruit. Dry finish.
3.5 29-APR-2021, bottle @Ulkløbben meeting, @Ole. Clear, dark brown with a lasting, off-white head. Roast, wood, brett. Slightly tart. Better than the first Rulles we had just previous but why will Tilquin blend with La Rulles?
3.7 75cl bottle at home, 2017-2018 ed. Hazy brown, fine foamy light beige head. Funky earthy brett upfront, balsamic vinegar, stout doesn't come forward t9o much, some dried fruits, light acidic, medium tart. Medium body and carbonation
2.7 Light brown. Thick head. Just a touch of lambic; this is mostly the brune. Clashy. The tartness isn't helping that brune. Some cherryish fruit, but I'm not seeing what the objective was here...or it's an objective I don't like.
4.2 0.75 l bottle with a champagne cork from Alko Ympyrätalo, Helsinki. Brown, cloudy, no head, sparkling. There's the dry ending from lambic combined with sweetnes from the bruin bier. Strangely, it has some flavour of chocolate. Strange, but great.
4.2 On tap at the Alibi Room in Vancouver. Dark brown with reddish highlights. A stout in name only. Pinkish head, powerfully fruity sour nose. Very close to an oud brun on the palate. Wonderful!
3.9 (750 mL bottle; 2017 vintage) Dark brown body with a large tan head; some lacing. Aroma is tart, fruity, wood and leather; earthy. Medium body; light soft carbonation; silky texture. Flavor is sour but supported by dark malt; fruity, vinous, some chocolate; earthy.
3.9 Aroma; winey stuff, fruit acids, farm, wood, toffee, dark malts, nut, cacao. Look; big beige head, on ultradark brown body. Taste; winey stuff, fruit acids, yogurt, farm, roasted malts, black syrup, wood, toffee, dark malts, nut, cacao, vinegar, chocolate, prunes, and finishes fast and dry. Feel; fine dry body and co². Overall; lot of taste. [corked&wired bottle, B@Vinmonopolet, T@apartment of PivotekaH7]
4.1 750 ml corked & caged bottle, vintage 2015-2016, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.0%. Very dark brown to black colour, large beige head. Vinous aroma, notes of farmhouse, oak and lightly roasted malts. Medium sour flavour, notes of brettanomyces, red wine vinegar, oak and roast malts.
3.7 Taken during supper while having some very nice pulled pork burgers. Quite funky taste, as the stout makes the beer less acidic. A bold attempt.
3.6 ( bottle) Aroma: dark fruits, dark malt notes. Taste: semi=sweet, flavour of dark fruits, stone fruits, hint of dark malt. Palate: medium body, medium carbonation. Overall: Strange one, tastes like sweeter lambic.
3.8 Dark brown with a fast dissipating head. Sweet vinegar smell of a lambic beer with a little note of roasted malts. There are two main flavours in this beer: A roasted one of toast and a sour one, without the strong vinegar note of the usual old gueuzes. Only 1/8 of this beer is lambic, but it makes up the main part of its flavour.
3.6 How: Bottle. Where: Tasting 2020-08-21. Appearance: Hazy brown colour with a tan head. Aroma: Malt, tart, fruit, vinous. Body: Medium body, low carbonation. Flavour: Tart, roasted malt, fruit, vinous, acidic.
4.0 Bottle shared at yorkie panzio. Hazy brown colour beige lacing. Nose is light chocolate, faint coffee. Taste is low medium sourness. Delicous and exciting, its only fault is that the kameradsky balsamico is competing in the same category.
3.7 Garden party at Rusovce. Thin body, highcarbonation. Moderation sourness, combination of mostly lactic and light acetic. Slightly caramelly, hints of chocolate. Moderate fruitiness though dried fruits, dark fruits. Easy drinking, very good.
3.8 Garden party at Rusovce. Dark brown with medium beige head. Sour aroma with dark malt, raisins. Taste, light sourness, dark malt, roasted notes, wood. Very good.
3.6 Bottle at Beer garden party Rusovce. Pours dark brown color, lightly beige head. Aroma of raisins, sourish. Taste is medium sweet, bitter, sourish, raisins, tart.
3.4 (tap 0,2l @ Craftbeer (Brno)) Overall: Ok sour, just light "dark" notes. Aroma: Sour, light leather. Appearance: Hazy brown. Medium, beige head. Taste: Medium sour, light chocolate, leather. Palate: Long very dry, sour finish.
3.0 75cl fles. Helder donker robijnrood van kleur, fijne romige witte schuimkraag. De geur is melkzuur en donker fruit. Smaak is zuur, rode bes, karamel en pruimen. Medium body en veel koolzuur.
2.3 Appearance: Cage and cork. 2017/2018 edition. Dark brown, clear. Small, fizzy head. Aroma: Sour fruits, lemon, barn. Taste: Sour fruits, dank, barn. Some stout-ness, but mostly the sourness shining through. Bought: Wittich, 750 ml, CHF 24.00 Info: 30/5-2020, BB: 6/4-2028
3.9 Medium to high foam which diminishes into a thin light persistent beige head. The color is a beautiful bloody dark burgundy, the Romans would call it "rosso porpora"... Interesting beer which after fermentation tends more to the sour wild style though initially placed in barrel with 7/8 stout. The stout gives it somewhat of a denser body and is noticeable partially towards the end. Aroma is complex, first pour was more fruity in a typical Tilquin kind of style, as it warmed up, the stout aroma comes out from the background. Taste is smoked roasted prunes and fruits, horse sweat, and toasted wood. Moderate sourness, acidity, and very slight lactic polish. Aftertaste is quite short... It's like the felt hat Gegia had no idea she wanted, but that fits perfectly...
3.8 Copenhagen 19/4 2020. 75 cl bottle from Belgisk Bryg, Emdrup Mosevej, Kbh. NV. The label tries to underline that this beer is blend which is done by mixing two labels. One with a grinning old man and one a bit more stylized in Tilquin's fashion. Pours opaque dark brown with a small, bubbly off-white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing. Aroma is medium intense with a medium strong sugary sweetness and a prominent sharp sour odor. Camel, brown sugar and toffee. Unripe berries and vinegar. Light whiff of metal. Light carbonation. Thin, oily, lightly tingling texture. Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a stronger vinegary sourness. Aftertaste is tart and sour with a light sweet undercurrent. Lingers for a while. Finish is vinous and dry. Mixing a Bruin and a Lambic gives a fairly weird result - but calling it. a Stout is downright strange. But then again whom am I to object to strange bedfellows?
