Timmermans Oude Gueuze

Timmermans Oude Gueuze

Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

3.9 Bottle from Hopshop Westhill. Lightly hazed gold with a bubbly white head. Aromas of sweaty barn and apple cider. Touch of sweet pear and melon. Brown rice. Fruity and sharp. Full bodied with a super crisp sparkle. Extra dry finish. Sharp and refreshing.
4.1 Lekker fris zuurtje met toetsen van perazijn, noten en amandel. Mooie kleur ook, misschien iets te dikke gist die niet oplost in dit overheerlijke bier. Overall een zalige geuze die vraagt om meer
4.1 Brewed in 2015, bottled in 2018. Pours with a nice fluffy head above an orange marmelade color typical for the style. The head dissipates quickly. A layered, wonderful nose. Oaky tannins are prominent, wild strawberries, pear, and unusual notes of jalapeno. The flavor is somewhat muted at first, but opens up. Pear is a dominant note, along with the sourness of apples and cherries. Dusty, slightly leathery, but not overly funky mid-palate gives way to an aftertaste of peach and wet hay. Refreshing. An archetypal geuze that doesn't stand out as exceptional, but has everything you're looking for if you're a fan of the style.
3.4 Very nice sour, Brutish flavour, however va bit expensive. 6.7% on bottle
3.9 Citrus, acid, pepper, cellar. Present wild yeast, very fruity, extremely drinkable.
2.8 Taster @ De Cam, comparing it to 5 other classic geuzes. Quite blend, sweet-ish, light acidity, tartness and funk. Medium body and carbonation.
3.8 375ml from Legacy LRS @ home on the day of buying MDX. Appearance: deep hazy golden with a weak white head. Aroma: nice funk and fruitiness with barrel notes. Taste: along the same lines, moderately sour, almost flat. Overall: pretty good.
3.9 (Bottle) Golden amber colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of green apples, lemon, grapes, horse blanket, barnyard, a light vinegar touch and funky yeast. Fruity, tart taste with green apples, lemon, grapefruit, sour grapes, unripe pineapple, barnyard, yeast and a generous tartness in the finish. Medium body, dry. Quite clean, but tart, solid and well made traditional gueuze. Very nice.
4.9 Golden, slightly hazy with a thin, actually almost no head. Muggy aroma. Taste is sour, fermentation, very intense, very good.
3.8 Copenhagen 24/4 2020. 37,5 cl corked bottle from Belgisk Bryg. Some gentlemen from Timmermans enjoying the Champagne of Beers on the label. Pours unclear, golden yellow with a small, bubbly, white head. Settles as thin rim of foam running along the ide of the glass. Aroma is intense and vinous with a subtle sweet fruitiness and austere odor of sour, unripe berries. Green apples. Vinegar. Light funky odor peeking in. Fairly strong carbonation. Thin, oily, tingling texture. Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a strong sourness. Aftertaste is vinous and sour. Finish is bone-dry. Actually lives up the nickname: The Champagne of Beers" from the prickly carbonation to the sour dryness.
3.3 37,5 cl bottle, 2018, 6,7% abv. Sourdough, green apples, vinegar, honey. Plenty of deposits, no bubbles, almost non-existent head, hazy. Initial taste is intense sour, good. Excessively acidic finish, not so good. Not very pleasant aftertaste. Low carbonation and slick feel for a lambic. Thankfully the price is alright. Meh.
4.2 375ml bottle watching The Crown. Clear amber appearance. Vibrant wild floral funk. Taste is wild zingy tangy floral funky sour gueue, super crisp super tart. Excellent clarity and depth of flavour. Very good.

4.0 2nd oude gueuze I've drunk in my life. Medium sour, funky, barnyard, a little horsy. A little citrusy aroma. High drinkability.
3.9 On keg at the Hanging Bat. Not previously rated which is hard to believe. Appearance - deep amber. Decent head. Nose - lanolin and light wood. Taste - sour apple and general funkiness. Subtle wood again. Palate - tangy and sour from start to finish but it has a lovely elegance. Overall - great stuff.
3.8 Aroma: funky notes, citric fruit, orange peel Appearance: hazy amber color topped with a two-finger beige head. Taste: funky notes, juicy citric fruit, orange peel, medium-low sweetness, medium-high sourness, low bitterness Palate: medium-low body, high carbonation, medium dryness, crispiness, medium astringency Overall: It's slightly lighter than Lambics usual. Refreshing and juicy.
3.8 God og velsmagende lambic. Dejlig frisk og undbydende. Tilpas surhed og bitterhed. God aroma.
3.4 Mocno jabłkowe, lekkie nuty pestkowe, cytrynowe, kwaśność średnia, wytrawne, lekko skórzane
3.7 Sourness is unbelievable. The strong aroma raises hair. Appearance is cloudy with heeps of yeast in Bottle bottom. Taste is sour apples. There is plenty of Acid and even my gums are kinda scared but all-in-all it’s glorious how Dupond&Dupont brew since 1702.
3.8 (Bottle, 0.375 l - BB 31.12.2038 - brewed 2015 - bottled 2018, from Alko, 20190524) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was quite large and white. Aroma had fruitiness, stomach acid and wood. Palate was medium bodied and dry with rather high carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, sourness, tartness, wood, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, sour and bitter. A pleasant gueuze with sweet maltiness. The palate was too fizzy.
4.0 Bottle, 2017, 6.7% ABV. Hazy golden with a bubble head. Aroma is funky, notes of wood, green apples, citrus, hay. Sour, funky, lemony, green apples, oak, herbs, mild fruity sweetness, finish is rather dry. Light-medium bodied, lively carbonation. Superbly balanced, easy to drink.
3.2 Pours light yellow and clear, foamy and well carbonated. Flavor is light, some funk, tart and carbonation. Easy to drink and washes down oily food but not a culinary experience.
3.3 Crisp sour aromas. Equally crisp sour flavour. Somewhat of a syrupy texture.
3.6 Lots of good socks and grapes and funk smell coming off this one. And it follows through with the taste. Nice tart grape funkiness, mild sweet supporting. Lingering tartness.
3.6 Bottled 2018. Hazy yellow-orange with big foamy head which stays long. Aroma of citrus, sour, apples, some barrel. Taste of tart apples, sour, citrus, vinegar, wood and funk. Finishes dry. Medium body, fizzy carbonation.Overall sour and refreshing

3.8 wonderfully tart, quite acidic, strong but smooth sourness. poured quite cloudy, but doesn’t have that taste. There is a good funk on the nose that complements the beer nicely. Belgian beer factory online order
3.9 0,375l bottle at home. Bottled 2016. BB 2036. amber clear color, medium big white head. smells earthy, wood, grassy, bit citric, some funk, light cheese, very subtle but still very nice smell. full body, very pearly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes very funky, cheesy, citric, grassy, earthy, some wood, lightly floral towards the finish. finishes dry and light to medium sour with a good amount of funk, citrus and some wood and peppery notes. very nice one, finish is almost a bit too malty (a bit too heavy), but overall very crisp and very good to drink. carbonation is also almost a bit too fizzy. overall very good one though.
