Tired Hands SaisonHands

Our four-grain saison. Brewed with rye, wheat, oats, and malted-barley in homage to the original farmers (not brewers) that originated this style. Suggestions of tropical fruit, citrus rind, and black pepper. (Originally known as FarmHands)

3.5 Hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is barnyard, grass and lime. Taste is grapefruit, lime and mango
3.6 Draft, citrus notes, grass, hay, light farmhouse tartness, crisp. Missing some depth, not quite the saison for me
3.7 On tap at Rattle n Hum West. Pours a light clear straw yellow with visible carbonation and a bubbly white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has sweet grains, light fruits and flora with a bit of grass and hay underlying. Flavor has tart light fruits, grass, flora and light sweet grains with a dry finish.
3.5 Draft at Strangelove. Pale golden, kind of fizzy, small active head. Aroma us hay, grass, herbal, lemons. Taste focuses more on the citrus, light and zesty.. nice feel and weight.
3.7 On tap at Spuyten Duyvil, Brooklyn. Pours cloudy golden, small white head. Dry, sour, some barnyard, citrus, funk, fruit. Lacks depth and complexity. Soft carbonation. Medium bodied.
4.3 [Copenhagen 2017] 200 ml. draft @ Mikkeller & Friends. Hazy orange, little white head. Nose is plastic but also lovely noble rot, carrot funk, white wine. Funky noble rot, carrot white wine thick bodied, tangerine, oak funk, bit plastic, thicker in a good way. Interesting, funky, very tasty.
3.8 Tap. Aroma of citrus, peppery esters, gooseberries, vinous. Clear with white head. Taste is dry, light bitter and citrus. Light body, dry feel and peppery finish.
3.8 Tap at the Fermentaria, Batch #14. Clearish golden (surprise, surprise!) with a short, lacing bright white head. Wheat and pepper nose, taste very tart, textbook saison on the whole but with a velvety mouthfeel. Low-medium bitterness, perfectly right crispness/carbonation. Oaky and very scratchy wood, so much so it’s almost Bretty! Lemon wedge, just tons and tons of natural lemon, straw/hay, full body and mildly repeatable. Clean, no sign of alcohol, had hoped for more complexity from the yeast. [2017.10.05: 3.8]
3.6 On tap at the brewery pours out a Amber gold color top with a small white head. Noze is spice some belg yeast grassy hops and a little basement Funk. Taste is more of the basement funk light yeast touch of fruit and the spice shows up at the end.
3.6 Pours hazy light yellow with small head. Aroma: typical horse blanket aroma nicely coupled with grapes giving it a white wine character. Brettanomyces are present as well, giving it a nice funk and soil character. Taste: white wine, grapes and a nice saison-like finish with spices and green pepper.

3.8 Sampled at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017. Clear golden pour with a thin white head. Notes of mould, wild funk, citrus, fruit. Fresh feel.
3.9 Sample @ MBC. Fresh stuff. Notes pf berry seeds, citrus, vanilla and some white wine.
4.0 Tap. Moderate grain and hay for the malt, light grass for the hops, musty basement and barnyard for the yeast, with hints of vinegar and sulfur. Head is average sized, frothy, white, with some spots of lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is light hazy amber. Flavor starts moderately to heavily acidic and a touch sour, then finishes moderately acidic, lightly bitter and again sour. Palate is light, watery, with a lively carbonation and a tart finish. Everything you want in a Saison, with nothing else, is in this beer.
3.6 Tap at Tired Hands Fermenteria, Ardmore. Colour is cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Spices, fruits, some Belgian yeast, hops and malts. Very fresh.
3.3 Draught. Creamy White good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter acetic flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Not impressed.
3.5 Crowler to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks reggiedunlop). Looks good for the style; a very slightly hazy gold with white head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells and tastes of a nice soft balance of wheat, grassy and citrusy hops, yeast, rye spice, and a bit of funk. Mouthfeel is medium light-bodied with a mildly bitter and slightly oily but not sticky finish. Enjoyable.
3.7 Tap. Mikkeller and Friends, Stefansgade. Dark straw. Light haze. Ring of white. Nose has clean and crisp lemon malts. Fruity yeast. Some dough. Taste is mostly dry, with some lemon rind tartness. Bright, light mouthfeel. Clean, mostly dry finish. Decent, fresh, bright saison.
3.7 Keg at M&F. It pours golden - amber with minimal white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, grainy, spicy, pear, apple, candied orange, hay and spice. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, vinous, green apple, pear, lemon sherbet, orange peel, mind acidity, spice, straw and spice with a firmly dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty fresh, tart and juicy.
3.7 Tap@Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen - yellow coloured pour with white head. Aroma and taste is light citric fruity, some zesty lemon hits, slight pineapple, some hay, straw, light yeasty, light subtle grassy and floral hoppy accents, slight tart fruity nto the close.
3.7 Tap. Hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, lemon zest, funk and spicey notes. Slightly sweet flavor that ends up being dry and with bitter notes. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Saison. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.9 On tap at the brewery. Smell is very unusual at first. Smells and taste like citronella or bug spray. Settles down after a while. Dry fizzy texture. Lots of citrus. Some bread. Tart funky finish.
3.4 Saison hands Ap: pours a clear yellow with a frothy white lacing 3 Aroma: applejuice, lemon, barnyard and vinegar 6/7 Flavor: moderate sweetness with a tart vinegar finish 6/7 P3 Ov 15 not a saison
3.7 Draught at Tired Hands. Light clear body with lemon notes and a touch of honey sweetness.
3.8 Draft at Lupulo. Mostly clear yellowish color with a nice white head. Fruit and yeast with a bit of sourness as well. Nice funk. Tons of yeast forward flavor here. Soft, slightly tart feel and finish.
3.8 Draught. Golden coloured. Unclear. Dense off whtie head. ARoma, yeast, fruits, citrus, sourness, vague spice. Flavour. Sourness, yeast, some tropical fruits, spice, citrus. Medium to full bodied. ends sour and citric with a touch of fruits. Refreshing.
3.9 Tap into a snifter showing moderately filtered honey with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows round fruit notes of peaches and apricot completely and harmonious mixed in with a light Belgian yeast note. The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors of peaches and apricot throughout. Lightly tart without any acetic edge and completely dry. Once again, I’m convinced that Tired Hands should be focused on their saisons rather than IPA’s.
