3.3 Cloudy black beer, low carbonation, small head, at nose several roast notes such as chocolate and coffee there are also some fruity ones like plum, at palate is nedium body with a nice aftertaste full of burned flavours and a slight bitterness.
4.0 Честный Стаут. Глубокий вкус. Приятное послевкусие. Насыщенный. Реально мужской. )))
3.1 Pours a clear dark brown, almost black with thin tan head and average carbonation. Aromas of strong roasted malts and coffee. Taste is full-bodied, the beer is quite smooth in the centre but the strong roasted malt and coffee flavours come through very strongly leaving a lingering bitter finish. My personal preference for stouts is to see some more sweetness coming through for balance; this one leans too much towards roasted and bitter flavours and doesn't have much malt sweetness/chocolate flavours to balance.
3.7 Pours a finger of head on a black body. Aroma is licorice, coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is deep and dark bitter coffee. Really nice. Texture is thicker.
3.2 Pours dark brown with big, long lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light body with soft carbonation with dry finish. Bit too light for my taste.
3.9 Pint from keg at the Hack & Hop. Not very aromatic, but great stout with slight taste of malty coffe
3.2 Tried at the Craft Rooms Lincoln. Jet black colour with a tan head. Roasted malty bitter with a touch of choc. Taste is light sweet to big roasted bitter.
4.2 Almost black colour, medium sized creamy beige head; aroma of coffee, chocolate, coffe cream and slight toffee notes; taste is the same with less intensity; great stout - w9uld be a perfect one with a bit more body
3.6 Cask Half Pint at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London in July 2011 - Pitch Black in colour. Very Malty; roast malts, lots of liquorice, espresso coffee, chocolate, caramel. Hoppy; earthy bitter hops. Well balanced stout. Roast malty throughout, dry and increasingly bitter into the finish. Very drinkable. Nice Stout! (2011-07-30)
3.6 On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - roast and dark chocolate. Taste - more of the same. A BT of biscuit spice in there too. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - I’d say this was into dry stout territory.
2.8 500ml bottle shared in the corporate hospitality area @ GBBF 16, as one of the disappointingly few exclusive bottled beers there. Pours black, thin ring of -off-white head. Taste is rather thin, a touch dry with a valiant hint of roast on the finish. Next.
3.4 Tap @ Lyric, London. Almost black with a creamy head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and roasted moderate bitter finish. 240316
3.5 Cask at the golden Grove. Pours black, nose is roasted, chocolate, liquorice, taste is sweet, liquorice, chocolate.
3.2 On draught at the Nags Head in Reading a year or so ago. Black with a light bubbly brown head. Nice and roasted stout, with a dark malt body and a chocolate, albeit not entirely clean finish. A reasonable stout.
3.2 Bottle from Home Bargains. This was being sold around the £1 mark. Great value as it's a really good stout. Sweet then a bitter finish.
3.9 Cask at the Crosse Keys, London EC3. Plus black with a small off white head, leaving good lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt and mocha. Sweetness is almost that of a sweet stout, with a light bitterness. Velvet smooth texture, body is rather light, soft carbonation. Light roasting to sweet finish. A good beer.
4.2 Dark roast aroma. Dark brown appearance. Caramel and sweet chocolate taste and good strength. Lovely.
4.0 On cask. Black body, light brown head. Aroma and taste of chocolate, coffee, cream, berries and floral hops. Creamy texture, medium body. Very nice stout.
3.1 500 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with big, long lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light body with soft carbonation with dry finish. Bit too light for my taste.
3.2 Tap. Earthy roasted malt aroma. Classic black with cram top. Served from the craft corner so in my view over-chilled. This may explain why the flavours were more muted. Bready rather than biscuity with the barley outweighing the hops on the first taste. Some Smokey undertones and one can detect where the vanilla stout hails from. While more to my taste than most Guinness served this may keep me in the mild porter camp. 2nd sipping 5)03/23 still served chilled like a Guinness so all the above applies.
3.5 0,5l bottle from Citymarket, Jumbo. Pours very dark brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Flavor is dry roasted malts, coffee and hops. Pretty robust for the ABV. Nice.
3.3 Bottle. Black, tan head. Roasty nose. Roasted malts, coffee, dry chocolate. Lightish body, but quite flavourful. Roasty, slight ashy. Pretty ok for the abv.
3.5 Nice well rounded stout some chalk and alcohol drink on cask at the healet Rochdale would go well on a session.
3.5 Keg at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A deep brown to black colour with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some vanilla and a hint of espresso. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee and vanilla cream. Medium bodied, soft carbonation and a smooth texture. A smooth, dry, chocolatey finish with a hint of vanilla and roastiness. A nice stout, roasted flavour with light sweetness................................................................................................ Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A deep brown to black colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, slight coffee and subtle vanilla. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, a hint of caramel and subtle coffee. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasted bitterness in the finish. Had to rate this again as I believe they may be a difference between cask and nitro. This is a lot more simpler in taste, a sweetish stout with a dry finish. Extremely sessionable though.
3.6 Keg @ Crown and Anchor. Inky black, creamy head, some bitter coffee aromas, taste is dark fruit, coffee and ash. Decent
4.1 Pitch black colour with big rocky and stable head. Intensive and pleasant aroma of roastiness, chocolate with coffee background. Taste is medium sweet, low bitter and low sour. Flat carbonation. Medium to full body. Fantastic classic stout.
3.3 Aroma: Medium dark chocolate. grape seeds. Appearance: Dark brown with red highlights. Medium light-brown head, fair retention. Flavour: Medium-high bitterness, roasty, sharp. Medium-light coffee. Dry finish with lingering roastiness. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. High carbonation. Overall: OK, but can do with a bit more complexity. 500 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 13A. Dry Stout
1.5 Espuma abundante demais. Olfato neutro, sem caracteristica. Paladar ácido, café torrado além do ponto ... decepcionante
3.7 Bottle, tulip glass. Excessive ochre head lasts long. Deep black. Chocolate and coffee on aroma and taste. Bit light body but quite nice balance. Crispy and bitter. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
