To Øl By Udder Means

To Øl By Udder Means

We bring to you an black thick milk stout called By Udder Means. We wanted to do a stout, that had a thick mouth feel and still a low alcohol percentage. We obtained this by adding a solid amount of lactose in the beer. The yeast strain we used is not capable of fermenting lactose, so when the beer stops fermenting all lactose still remains in the beer. At the same time lactose doesn’t leave this sweet touch to the beer, so you can obtain a thick mouth feel without having an overly sweet or overly strong stout. We hope you enjoy.

3.2 On keg at Brewdog Lothian Rd, Edinburgh. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - huge boozy note, like rum or bourbon. Sorry haven't read the spec. Taste - molasses and burnt bread. Honey and molasses. Palate - rich and tangy. It's very sweet though. Tangy sweet more than bitter finish. Overall - closer to dry stout than milk stout. This is challenging.
4.0 Dark and bitter imperial stout. Very pleasent to drink. Very very strange label. Aftertaste is a bit too bitter for my taste.
4.2 Wow. Virkelig en god og spændende øl. Masser af bitterhed, men aligevel dejlig sødme i smagen.
3.5 Bottle from Beerhawk. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee on the nose. Tastes roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, some dark fruit with a lingering bitterness. Decent enough stout.
4.2 Bottle imported from Tool brewery direct, pours black with huge creamy tan head, aromas of coffee, dark chocolate & roasted malts, some dark fruits also, silky smooth stout, tastes of espresso, dark fruit, chocolate, touch of sweetness, medium bitter finish, delicious stout
3.8 330 ml bottle from Beer Hawh, bb unknown. Black, light bronze head. Nose - cocoa, milk chocolate, some coffee and a hint of ash. Taste - bitter, cocoa, roasts. Just a bit too thin.
3.6 A lot of lactose sweetness here. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and a lot of dark fruit flavour but I find the lactose overpowering.
3.8 Bottle from Beyond Beer - nearly black, huge brown head. dark malts, lactose, body is really thick but at the same time very drinkable. silk like texture. medium fruity. medium sweet. medium bitter finish. a gem. more, please.
4.0 Dark brown color, tan head, aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee, light sweetness, lightly bitter, bitter finish.
4.0 (floral-pin pin, moyenne à milieu, café (trop on line), fin onctueuse, se choco-laitise, complexifie-harmonise, sucre)
4.0 33 cl. bottle @ home, served in a teku glass. Aroma: quite intense aromas of black coffee, roasted coffee, roasted malts, black chocolate, grapefruit, pine, resin, grass, citrus. Appearance: dark brown color, almost black. Brown to light brown foam, very creamy and made of tiny to small-sized bubbles. High head thickness with very high retention and high Brussels' lacing. Too dark to talk about haziness. Taste: low to medium sweetness, medium bitterness, low sourness. Very intense flavors of roasted coffee, roasted malts, black chocolate, cocoa, pine, resin, grass, grapefruit, citrus. Very well balanced, all the flavors match perfectly to build up a very well balanced beer. Palate: medium body, very oily/silky to sticky texture, medium carbonation, very long dry finish with medium bitterness and the same aforementioned flavors. Alcohol is barely noticeable: very low alcohol sweetness, mouth and throat warming. No astringency, only a light acidic touch from the black malts, the brewing job with the black malts is outstanding. Overall: excellent appearance. Good aromas of grapefruit, pine, roasted malts and coffee, black chocolate, black coffee. Quite hoppy aromas for a stout, it seems a Black IPA. Flavors are outstanding: roasted coffee, roasted malts, black coffee and a lot of hoppy flavors too: pine, resin, grass. The low alcohol volume is an excellent choice. Alcohol is barely noticeable and this makes this stout stand out over other stouts, it's a flavor bomb. It's hard to tell if it fits better in the Black IPA style than in the Stout style, but either way, it's an excellent beer.
3.7 Opaque brown beer, thick beige head. Smells sweet and malty. In the mouth it's a big rich stout, slightly lively, with earthy malt, lactic sweetness, a little hoppy. A little like a black IPA. Whatever you call it it's very nice. Love a To Ol.
3.7 Noire à mousse abondante. Nez : vineux (mon exemplaire), chocolat, fruits noirs, fraise, houblons.
3.9 Alkohol: 7% obj. Dodatki: Laktoza, płatki owsiane Data ważności: 23.10.2021 Kolor: Czarny, słabo przejrzysty. Piana: Wysoka, czapowata, kremowa piana. Ponad piwem piętrzy się góra ciemno kremowego puchu zbudowanego ze średnich i małych ziarenek. Wzorowe krążkowanie! Zapach: W aromacie od razu wychodzą na przeciw nuty mleczne, jogurt czekoladowy, płatki owsiane. Wtórują im orzechy i duża ilość zbożowych niuansów. Kolejne łyki to nuty zbożowe z przewagą płatków owsianych. Laktoza gwarantuje mleczny odbiór. Podobnie do aromatu przewija się tutaj akcent prażonego słonecznika. Na koniec umiarkowana paloność i kawa zbożowa. Tekstura kremowa, łatwość w przyswajaniu kolejnych łyków. Wysycenie: Niskie.
4.0 Aroma is roasty and malty. It smells like espresso, roasted nuts, dark chocolate and raisins. Deep black color with a hazel, creamy, good lasting head. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter. It tastes like milk chocolate, coffee, cocoa with a light note of vanilla and toffee. Body is medium. Mouthfeel is soft and thick. Finish is long with a broad with a soft bitterness. What a balance, what an experience! 0,33l bottle from Beer Store Vienna.
4.0 12 ounce bottle from John's. Pours a pitch black color with a small beige head. A big dark fruit nose, very solid aroma. A big flavorful beer, initially huge dark fruit, tastes huge, dry cocoa, lactose. Damn good. So smooth.
3.9 Very black. Pours like oil and gives a great, soft head. Heavy bitter taste like a strong coffee.
4.4 Butelka 330 ml.
4.0 From Degustasur. In Teku glass. Playing Avernum 2. Milky, smooth, with strong bitterness and hoppy notes like in a cascadian black ale. Leaves fairly nice aftertaste. Very foamy, requiring 2 pours
3.9 Black colour. Aroma has coffee and roasted malts. Taste has milky coffee, some sweetness maybe some chocolate and liquorice. Very good stout!
3.4 Bottle. Black colour, quite large beige head with great duration and lacing. Aroma of dark and roasted malts, coffee, licorice, light chocolate and some red fruits. Taste is medium- sweet, medium+ bitter, milky coffee, burnt coffee, licorice, dark malt, roasty, with notes of chocolate, some pine. Roasty, coffee bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. Quite good stout.
4.0 Cerveza color negro oscuro. Corona de espuma de burbujas compactas de buena retención. Aroma a maltas tostadas, café, cacao, ahumado.
Smukt. Aroma af malt, frisk humle, kaffe. Smagen er ret bitter og moderat sød. Minder lidt om en porter. Føles lidt tynd i munden. Ristet bitterhed i afslutningen.
4.2 Ottimo
3.7 33 cl. no bottling date. Ebony pour with a half inch of spongy foam. Smell is licorice, lactose and earthy dark chocolate. Flavor is the same but with more lactose and blackberry. Medium-heavy mouthfeel with smooth medium carbonation and a good balance, if a bit sticky.
3.7 Bottle. deep dark colour with stable head off. Aroma is sweet, coffee. Taste of coffee, brandy, pralines, citrus fruits.
