To Øl Dangerously Close to Stupid
The next beer in the To Øl hop adventure is now a reality – we present to you Dangerously Close To Stupid. An Imperial IPA at 9,3 % ABV with a close to stupid amount of Citra and Centennial Hops in it. It is a bright crisp and super dry-hopped IIPA with a smooth and balanced body.
To make a tight transition between the hop profile and the body we have removed all caramel malts and focused only on basis malts. This is resulting in a nice fresh Spring/Summer IIPA that has a Dangerously Close To Stupid drinkability.
We have for a long time been wanting to do a pendant to the Final Frontier Double IPA, that has this rich caramel body and we think we nailed it Dangerously Close to Perfect with this one

Can from To Øl. Hazy deep golden colour with an off white head. Aroma is citrus and malty taste sweet citrus to moderately bitter. Full body.
33 cl bottle poured into a Snifter. Hazy orange colour with a dense white head. Fruity aroma with citrus fruit, tropical impressions, pines and peaches. A good amount of caramel malts. Taste is bitter. Medium to full body. Lasting dry and bitter finish. Nice old school experience in the days of dank and horse piss coloured beers.
Tap at Beergeek. The ABV is out there, present with moderate warmth, slightly unpleasant, light high alcohols. Alco yeast seems to have taken a hit, with a bit of vomit character present. High bitterness, but the hops aromatics lag behind. Rather caramelly than hoppy. Not good unfortunately.
Hazy golden, beige head. Honeydew melon, marmalade, bisquit, gooseberries. Heavy but drinkable
Signori e signori ecco a voi la imperial ipa!!! Colore giallo abbastanza torbido, molto consistente. Già all'olfatto ha forti sentori fruttati che poi rimangono al gusto. Gradazione molto alta 9,3% che però non si sentono subito ma dopo... è un'ottima scelta nonostante il prezzo alto!!! Da provare sempre
Donkergeel bier met een ruime witte schuimkraag. Citrus, hoppig met een licht bittere afdronk.
Orange, cloudy, nice head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, malt, grass, DMS? Unpleasant. Much better taste than the aroma. Intensive, hoppy. Citrus, melon, grapefruit, yellow fruits, malt. Sweet. Too high carbonation. Medium-high hoppy, sharp bitter. Tasty beer with awful aroma.
Bottle from the beer club membership. Drunk after some Rioja. Yellow-orange, hazy, massive head that lasts. Papaya, lemon mandarine, sweet and hoppy nose. The flavor is massive, smooth yet very hoppy-bitter, little/no hop burn. Pineapple, a bit of dank pine, yummy!

una bella imperial ipa di quelle brutali alla to øl, ma proprio densa densa densa che si può tagliare col coltello, molto fotogenica, schiuma stupenda e abbondantemente luppolata.
Come tutte le IIPA l'alcol si sente, per la categoria è ben coperto, per i miei gusti forse no.
Gustosa ma non può definirsi beverina.
Ma ottima.
Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Hazy golden body with a thick white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of peach and dried mango. Flavour of menthol and peach. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A solid DIPA but not the fruit bomb I thought it would be.
Colore Dorato scarico con schiuma bianca compatta, aromi floreali e agrumati, molto amara con un alcol molto ben "nascosto". Gusto persistente

Appearance: Orange light brown. Hazy, murky even. Good account of off-white head.
Aroma: Lots of hops, light fruit, citrus.
Taste: Lots of hops, light fruits. Some sweetness. Long-lasting, strong bitterness.

Canette métallique. Couleur orangée trouble. Mousse qui fait le job. Nez méga porté sur le floral, la rose, le litchi, c'est impressionnant. Au bout d'un moment c'est juste caramel (léger) et agrumes. Même délire en bouche : d'abord archi floral/rose/litchi, puis caramel/agrumes avec la rose/litchi qui perdure pas mal quand même. Petite rondeur en bouche, faible amertume qui se réveille un peu en fin de bouche. Pas du tout l'impression que ça pédale à 9,3% donc effectivement, la drinkability du bousin est bien haute. To Ol 4 life !

Aroma sitrus humle. Smak sitrus appelsin humle malt. Kraftig, fyldig og bitter. En ekte IPA
Dangerously close to barley wine. Deliciously sweet (couldn't have more than one but at this ABV it's hardly sessionable anyway) with orange, peach, pineapple thick in the mouth. A long bitter aftertaste. Powerful stuff.
Nose is malt, flowers, citrus (mostly orange to me) and hops
Mouth is crisp and bitter. Very, very hoppy. Very, very fresh.

Bottle. BB May 2020; Drank July 2019 - Hazy orangey gold with a medium frothy white head. Very fruity; grapefruit and orange citrus, tropical fruits, peach. Hoppy; big hop presence, piney hops. Sweet malts. Quite dry. Sweet-bitter citrus and tropical fruity piney hoppy throughout. Dry hoppy finish. Enjoyed this. Very good. (2019-07)

Copenhagen 16/6 2019. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled torv, Kbh Ø. Close up of decaying Flowers on the label. Very uplifting.
Pours hazy, milky, golden yellow with a very big white head. Settles as thin but lumpy layer for foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma has a fine balance between the sweet exotic fruit and the citric odors with the citrus coming out on top. Peach, Orange lemonade and Mango. Fermented. Citrus, Lemon and light Grape fruit.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft texture. A little sticky.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a lighter sweetness peeking in. Lingering. Semi-dry finish.
Surprisingly light DIPA. Nicely balanced and not too boozy.
Strong liquor taste, caramel.
Aroma: A lot of orange, mango, passion fruit, lemon, pineapple.
Appearance: Very hazy orange, great white head.
Taste: Very sweet and bitter.
Palate: Full body, thick, low carbonation.
Overall: Good NEIPA, but way too sweet! Other than that very good.

T: rich malty base, sweet tangerine peels, orange, mango, mellow pineapple, floral, bit caramel, fresh fruity feeling, nice harmonic long lasting bitterness, medium to full body yet easy drinkable, soft carbonation, this is very nice great beer for the style, fully enjoyed.
Vierte naranja turbio con media corona de espuma de burbuja fina y larga retención, aromas a fruta tropical , cítricos, fruta de hueso, floral y resina; en boca entrada media, licorosa con fuerte amargor, cuerpo medio y bajo carbónico, notas a cereal y miel, largo retrogusto con final ligeramente dulce y amargo a la vez, excelente cerveza, muy disfrutable, bien conjuntada y perfecta en estilo.
50cl can. Hazy orange with a dense white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, orange, grapefruit, floral. Taste is fruity, sweet, orange, grapefruit, herbal, pine, pithy bitterness, a little alcohol. Medium body, smooth, soft carbonation.
Piana obfita, trwała. Barwa pomarańczowo żółta, mocno zamglona. W aromacie białe owoce, cytrusy, nafta... W smaku dość słodkie, soczyste, głównie winogrona, albedo z grejpfruta, nafta, zest, średnia, żywiczna goryczka na finiszu i lekkie likierowe rozgrzewanie. Niskie do średniego wysycenie, niezwykle gładkie w odbiorze.
No pięknie pijalne zważywszy na ABV, klasa!
