To Øl Frost Bite

To Øl Frost Bite

To Øl Frost Bite is an American Pale Ale brewed with orange peel and pine needles. It is so frosty that it needs to be stored cold and may bite if you touch it. This beer is all about the balance (not the bass). Imagine the flavours of pine needles and orange peel. Now imagine the same flavours only represented by Aurora, Citra, Tettnanger, Simcoe and Amarillo hops. This hoppy dry mix of spices and hops makes for the perfect Winter American Style Pale Ale.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt (Pale, Cara Red, Munich, Pilsner), flaked oats malt, pine needles, orange peels, hops (Aurora, Citra, Tettnanger, Simcoe, Amarillo), yeast.

3.8 Aroma: From Bottle - Grassy, touch of yeast, strong hops, apples. Detecting a light sweetness from the malts, but not detecting a roasted character to the malts. The hops are grassy and strong. There are green apple esters and a hint of yeast and notes of bubble gum in the aroma. Appearance: The color is gold to copper with a cloudy body. The head is off-white, medium with good head retention and medium bubbles. Flavor: Initially a little sour on the front of the tongue, the quickly followed by toasted malts. There is a small amount of sweetness providing a pleasant moisture throughout the beer. The hops add a pleasant amount of bittering in the finish that quickly fades. There is a small taste of green apples and the overall balance is more towards the hoppy but is a very balanced beer. Would day this is hopped more for bitterness than flavor. Mouthfeel: The body is Medium with low carbonation and a medium to strong alcohol warmth. There is a lingering but quickly fading astringency associated with the Hops. And I am not detecting any creaminess in the mouth feel rather it is more wet than creamy or dry. Overall: I feel like this is a very good beer with a bit too strong of an alcohol warm which might be a fault for this type of beer. But I feel like the balance of the beer makes us a very drinkable beer.
3.8 Deep amber pour with a medium white frothy head which reduces quickly. Smell is fresh pine, hops, apricot. Tastes grassy, super fresh, hints of orange, medium hops. I want to drink it in a cabin, in the woods, in Denmark.
3.4 Can, gift from Sam. Clear amber body with a medium off-white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of tinned orange, grass and shower gel. Flavour of pine, Jelly Babies and tinned grapefruit. Thin to medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Bitter and pithy.
4.0 0.25 sample. Pours clear copper color with medium white head. Aroma of pine trees, tropical fruits, bubblegum. Flavor is medium sweet, light to medium sour. Finish is medium sweet, medium bitter, medium long, a bit salty. Medium body, average carbonation.
4.3 From Degustasur. In Teku glass. Playing Bloo Kid 2. Just the adequate soft touch of pine to provide pleasant flavors without becoming tiresome. Smooth feel. Fairly bitter. A bit more foamy than desiderable
3.3 Tap @ Bier Kraft, Seville, Spain. Hazy amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma is hops, malt, citrus, herbs, fruits. Taste is hops, malt, citrus, sweet, grapefruit. Medium body, moderate carbonation.
2.7 Color ámbar, turbio, con capa de espuma blanca de tres dedos de grosor y retención decente. Carbonatación media. Textura acuosa y ligeramente chispeante. Aroma ligeramente dulce y feo. Lúpulo rancio y malta caramelizada o tostada, no deduzco. Peladura de naranja difusa. En boca, misma sensación, casi peor. Lúpulo rancio, pino, malta caramelizada, peladura de naranja. Amargor final suave. Algo rancia, siento repetirme, pero no me aporta demasiado.
3.7 Tried in a can from to ol. HZy deep golden colour with a white head. Topical and pine aroma and taste. Medium to full body.
3.7 6%ABV. IPA. Poured out light amber. 10ºSRM. Nose is perfumed with incense, baby powder, jasmine, and magnolia. Citrus aromas are orange peel and orange blossoms. Sweet malty aroma at the end. Mouthfeel is soapy. Palate has crackers but is more like wheat toast, flour and raw dough with a more flat palate. Hop flavors are orange peel, lemon zest, grass with a green leafy flavor. Finish is medium with a grassy, sappy bitter finish.
3.1 On tap. Pours slightly hazy orange with creamy head. Aroma is blocked, and it is served a bit cold imho. Orange peal bitterness, medium hoppy and overall ESB level of bitterness. Medium bodied, silky and smooth. Finish is a bit off, and feels like an end of a keg. But that doesn't mean the beer is bad. Quite typical for what it is. Drinkable but not innovative.

3.8 330ml bottle. Hazy orange amber with a medium beige head, well retained. Aroma is mostly orange peel, with citrus and piney notes, malts. Taste of orange peel, oranges, citrus, grapefruit, pine, caramel, malts, moderate bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation, really smooth. Decent wintery pale.
2.7 Bottle. Cloudy amber color, frothy off-white head. Earthy hop aroma. Fairly hoppy, oily flavor with malts and wood. Medium body, medium carbonation. The hop profile doesn't work well for me.
2.9 Tap at brewdog. Pours amber. Aroma is fruity, citrus, sugar, orange. Flavor is sweet and bitter, citrus, orange. Overall: well it's apa.
3.1 Tap. Murky dark amber beer, small white head. Nose is citric, hoppy, biscuity malts, pine. Flavor is pine needles and oranges, malt backbone is sturdy, yet the beer feels a bit watery. Resiny finish. A bit too resiny to be a quaffer.
3.8 330 ml bottle @Bumble Inn,Peterborough. Amber,slightly hazy. Nose - orange & pine,alas,muted. Taste - orange and pine. Nice bitter aftertaste. Oily.
3.5 Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture with soft carbonation. Moderate citrus bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. Good brew, but not worth the price.
3.7 50cl can from To Ol via EEBRIA. Hazy orange colour with a white head. Not much aroma. The taste is a refreshing APA with hints of orange peel and pine needles, exactly as it says on the can. Dryish and spicy with a great hop flavour. A definite Yuletide feel to it. A great addition to the range of beers for Christmas! Re-sampled 26th December from a bottle. Equally good! A first-rate APA.
4.0 From bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 13.11.17. Slightly hazy pale orange. Fine aroma and taste of citrus, marmalade and succade, with hints of tropical fruits.
3.9 0,5l can from Pivný raj Bottle Shop, Bratislava, Pours deep cloudy golden orange liquid, small creamy white head, Aroma: nice citrus, orange peel, slight pine, ballanced hopy, Taste: light sweet, medium bitter, light sour, citrus, orange peel, Palate: light to medium body, soft to average carbonation, slick mouthfeel, long bitter aftertaste, Overall: very good, ballanced, pleasent, not overhoped, tasty, enjoyed.
3.3 Draught. Hazy dark amber pour with offwhite head. Aroma has quite a bit of sweet malt. Some orange and pine. Medium carbonation. Medium heavy body
3.9 Mmmh! Kompleks aroma. Malt, humle og appelsinskal møder hinanden. Afbalanceret og bitter. Dejlig øl!
4.0 To Øl Frost Bite has a decidedly American-style hop bouquet, but it takes the Pale Ale to strange new dimensions. The sturdy, creamy malts (which almost taste doughy) pleasantly support the hops and their high alpha acid levels. There’s still a good deal of resin, spice, and zest from the pine needles, orange peel, and hops. The hops evoke the American Northwest, and the spices evoke Scandinavian forests. Go figure, huh?
3.2 Opaque bronze colour with an uneven little head. Aroma is mostly pine with a little bit of orange peel and grass. Taste is pine, malt, orange, but it’s all a bit unbalanced. Quite bitter.
3.4 330ml bottle. Pours orange gold. Pine, herbal, orange, caramel, pineapple. Like a forest floor. Nice.
3.8 the aroma is hoppy and fruity with hints of pine, grapefruit, key lime, orange and spicy herbs... the taste is malty and fruity with notes of bitter orange, grapefruit, pine needles, key lime, lemon peel and spicy grasses... bitter and dry aftertaste...
3.0 Po prostu poprawne piwo. Aromat trochę mdły. Delikatny las, słodkie owoce i wyczuwalne drożdże.
Butelka do 31.08.2018
3.3 Aus der Flasche getrunken (Weihnachtskalender von To Øl). Messingfarben mit weißer imposanter Schaumkrone. In der Nase noch unauffällig, aber wunderbar eingebraute Nadelwaldaromen. Kaum Restbittre.
