4.0Surprisingly fruity taste, very nice aroma and appearance, lacing and foam not very lasting, overall good beer.
3.8Tap Black colour with no head.aroma of vanilla and dark dried fruits sweet and warming mouthfeels and bourbon nots also, roasted and grainy with good full body and sweet strong finish.
4.4Absolutely beautiful! Very lively, dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma is not overpowering but has stone fruit and malt. Tastes boozy, rich and thick. Kicks in like a creamy, fruit and nut, goes put like Bournville chocolate.
3.9aromat: kawa i delikana beczka
smak: kawa wanilia i burbon, mocno goryczkowe bez wyraźnej kontry
4.0Bottle. Goliat with bourbon soaked oak chips. I assume same entry. Pours black, darkzr head. Smell is intense, oak, roasty, creamy. Taste is full, ontense, creamy, oaky, very mild bourbon. Nice.
Gott.
4.2Black pour with tan head. Aroma is chocolate vanilla and bourbon. Taste explodes sweet dark fruit and bourbon. Very good, bit to sweet for my taste. Enjoyable.
4.5Aroma: Apple syrup, vanilla Appearance: Pitch black, no see through, beige (liver) big bubble frothy crema staying head, full lace Taste: Apple syrup, vanilla, coffee, some soy, licorice, roast, excellent with a earthy cigar.
3.9Pours oily black, opaque with creamy brown dissipating head. Aroma: roasted grain, malts, dark fruits esters, vanillin, bourbon.... Flavor is similar: roasted grain, malts with notes of bitter cacao chocolate, roasted coffee beans, caramel, vanillin (vanilla), bourbon, dark fruit esters, still some hops noticeable (vintage 2013!).
Full body, velvetly texture, moderate carbonation. As I remember regular version was better and cheaper at the same time.
4.0Liquid is black as night, average, light brown head. Strong aroma of chocolate. Heavy body, little bit carbonation. Taste of stout, sweet, a bit bitter.
3.8Flaska saveur biere. Svart vätska. Mustig doft av chokladbrownie och vanilj. I smak kaffe, choklad och lite knäckighet. Borbounlagringen känns ganska diskret. Fyllig munkänsla med värmande alkohol
3.9Flaska 37.5 cl. Svart med ljusbrunt skum. Doft av choklad och portvin. Söt och mustig, kaffesump, choklad och mörka bär.
3.7Bottle. Sensoric. Pitch black with almost none, small, light brown head. Poor head retention and lacing. Moderate to light heavy roasted malts aroma - mainly coffee, dessert chocolate, cocoa. Moderate bourbon, vanilla notes, slightly oaky. Taste is moderately sweet and light to moderately bitter, light to moderate acidic (due to coffee). ABV is somehow well hidden just a slight warming down the throat. In overall hard to sum up, there is bourbon, roasted notes, dessert chocolate, slightly boozy. You can feel that these all do not play in the same game..... Unfortunately, but still really good brew. Not more than 4.0 definitely.
3.912oz bottle 2014-12-04. Pours black with small off-white head. Aroma is maderation, cocoa, coffee and dried fruits. Taste has roasty coffee, caramel and dried fruits.
4.0Bottle from søernes ølbar. Pours pitch black with a tan head that disappears. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, bourbon sugary sweetness, and perhaps some smokey notes. Taste is bitter and smokey with a dark fruity sweetness. Not dessert sweet, but fruity, roast sweet.
4.2On tap at Side Project Cellar. Somehow, the coffee comes out more in the barrel aged version than the regular. Bourbon barrel is most present in the aftertaste. Lactose sweetness is replaced by bourbon barrel sweetness and oak. This was excellent.
3.7From notes. Somehow this drinking session evaded my developments. Enjoyed at Doug’s house on October 28. 375 mL bottle. The pour is a lighter black/dark brown with a thin ring of light tan head that slowly fades without leaving any lace behind. The aroma is really strange. There is a strong grassy hop right up front that slowly works its way through to a light chocolate and caramel malt and a pretty heavy oak and light bourbon. It’s really interesting, but way too leafy and hoppy for me. The flavor is good. There is a lot of bourbon and chocolate. The oak offers a nice complexity, but then the leafy hops come rolling back through. It’s just not my jam. The mouth feel is light and watery with a softer carbonation and a lingeringly oaky bourbon chocolate on the finish. It’s pretty decent.
4.3Bottle, received in a trade. Very dark, chestnut brown. Film and some bubbles of sticky, leggy, tan head. Nose has melted, dark chocolate. Brown sugar laden coffee. Vanilla pod. Sawn oak. Notes of prune and date. Bourbon and fudge. Smells pretty awesome. Taste is sweet, fudgy and chocolatey. Some vine fruit dryness. Any bitterness is woody and vinous. Silky mouthfeel. Some warmth. Right side of chewy. Vinous, fruit and nut chocolate, bitter finish. Lovely.
4.037,5cl bottle @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo. 17-05-2015.
BBD: 04-09-2023.
In Short: mighty IStout.
Pours black with nice tan head. Short head retention, poor lacing. Roasty, wood, sweet liquor aromas. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, silky texture. Taste is roasty, sweet, wood, caramel, licorice. Quite strong beer, long lingering mouthfeel, Very enjoyable.
4.0Bottle at home. Pitch black, beige foamy head. Nice bourbon barrel character with butterscotch, vanilla, nutty notes and soft roasted malty milky coffee, brown sugar, light red fruits. Lingering coffee bourbon finish. Good body, low carbonation.
4.1375ml bottle at home in Richmond as ’To Øl Goliat Imperial Stout Bourbon Barrel Aged’, 10.1%, 1st batch bottled in Sep 2013. Pours opaque black with a foamy brown head, leaving full lacing. Aroma is coconut macaroons and Turkish Delight, earthy dark chocolate with rose and vanilla, coffee. Body is smooth with low carbonation. Taste is earthy, dark chocolate, creamy vanilla, coffee, quite hoppy and floral, salted liquorice in the spicy finish. Rich and flavoursome. Tasty.
4.3375 ml bottle into snifter, best before 12/10/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, licorice, molasses, dark fruit, and roast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, coffee, bourbon barrel, and moderate fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with light licorice, molasses, dark fruit, and roast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate coffee/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great roasted malt bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish; with zero barrel booziness. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged imperial coffee stout! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
4.7375ml bottle. Pours a deep black with little off white head. Huge aroma of coffee, fruits, and malts. Full body with the Coffee, fruits, malts, and a slight sweetness coming through. The finish is bourbon sweetness with only a small alcohol kick.
4.5Piana obfita, sycząca, szybko opada do chmurki. Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta, z minimalnym brązową poświatą na dnie szkła. Aromat przyjemnie waniliowy, beczkowy, słodki, do tego kawa, czekolada, praliny, cola... W smaku intensywnie słodkie, waniliowe, likierowe, oczywiście sporo czekolady, kawy, karmelu oraz wysokiej, palonej goryczki. Długie, beczkowo tytoniowe posmaki. Wysycenie niskie do średniego, treściwe, dość gęste, wyklejające.
3.9Bottle. Pitch black pour with brown head. Aroma has lots of tar, chocolate and coffee. Taste is balanced with roasted malt. Texture is thick and oily. Low carbonation.
4.2Aroma is deeply roasted malts, caramel, fig qnd toffee. Light hints of espresso. Taste is rich caramel, toffee, butterscotch vanilla. Light tartiness to roumd a light hop body. Very very teasty. A chewy mouthfeel. Appearance is black with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.
