To Øl Liquid Confidence

To Øl Liquid Confidence

The Liquid Confidence is all about showing what To Øl likes to brew. This a not a chili stout but a stout brewed with chilies. Smooth and fruity Ancho and Guajillo chilies to impart a vegetable, fruity finish and smoked Chipotle to give a hint of smoke. There is no smoked malt in the beer, so all the smoke is derived from the Chipotle. The beer is just lingering in the throat. This beer is designed to straighten your back an let the kick of chili just give you the boost you need to take the dance floor like John Travolta, ask your boss for a raise or tell your parents that you are skipping the uncles 90-birthday…

Ingredients: Water, barley malt (Black, Cara Crystal, Melanoidin, Pale, Roasted Barley), flaked oats, chilies (Ancho, Guajillo, smoked Chipotle), cassonade sugar, Sorachi Ace hops, yeast.

3.7 [Mikkeller Bottle Shop - Aarhus] Aroma: Moderately sweet, chocolate, coffee and roasted malt Appearance: Pitch black with a small fast disappearing brown head Taste: Moderately sweet and bitter, roasted malt, alcohol and chocolate ending in a coffee bitterness Mouthfeel: Oily-creamy texture with soft carbonation Overall: Quite nice :)
4.2 Keg at BrewDog Clapham Junction, Battersea. Black with a tan head. Aroma of rich tobacco, treacle, liquorice, dark rum and slight smoke. You know right away that you’re drinking a chilli infused beer, but it’s not overwhelming. So thick and smooth. Moderate sweetness straight up, followed by roastiness and bitter burnt notes and then a rounded balance. The chillies gently warm the back of your throat and the smokiness of the chipotles adds a nice extra element. In a word; fantastic.
4.0 Appearance: dark with mild carbonation Smell: spicy and sweet fragrance Taste: sweet, and ends with a bitter spicy aftertaste. Spicy kick increases when beer gets warmer.
3.7 Ciemnobrunatny, nieprzejrzysty. Nalał się z brązową, drobną, obfitą pianą. W aromacie kawa, lekka nuta ostra, papryczkowa. W smaku dość słodki, lekko alkoholowy. Całość gęsta, ulepkowata. W posmaku wyraźna, ostra nuta papryczek. Ale nie jest przesadzona. Trochę za słodki. Ale dobrze się pija, alkohol nieźle zamaskowany. Jest palony w posmaku. Całkiem ciekawe piwo.
4.0 Rich smooth dark fruit and treacle, some spicy woody hops. Simlar flavour, rich yet easy drinking, enough alcohol, moderate chilli heat in the finish. A well crafted smooth strong stout.
4.4 Dark with a frothy light brown head. Smell of coffee and cinnamon. Roasted, very sweet taste, giving the impression you could chew the beer. Light carbonation and a full body.
3.8 @Beerside at Belvárosi Sörfesztivál Black color with nice beige head. Roasted, smoky, chocolate, pepper aroma. Spicy chocolate, roasted, coffee, smoked pepper, liquorice, bit earthy. Warm and spicy, oily, dry, bit earthy finish, full bodied.
3.2 Tap. Black tan, head laces well. Aroma of caramel syrup w toast vanilla mocha raisin-like chile. Very smooth. Very sweet. Dirty toffee with dried fruit. Supermarket brand Garibaldis. Hot booze catches the throat - maybe some chile is there too but it's vague. Some bitterness at the end. Alcohol dries. Eh.
4.1 Lightly spicy , vanilla, a bit of flour taste, very very good. The spiciness is more agressive in the first zip but gets milder later.
3.8 375 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. Looks: Deep tan blackish brown colour with a thin ring of dirty yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head with dark beige foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with zero carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant dark malt, with roastyness, fairly strong smoke, strong chili, strong milk chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee, cream, floral, sugar, spices, dill, earth, bread, strong yeast, citrus and grass. Taste: Strong sweet rich dark malt, with strong roastyness, strong chili flesh and heat, moderate smoke, strong liquorices, caramel, sticky toffee, strong black coffee, light chocolate, whipped cream, floral, syrup, spices, earth, biscuits, yeast, lemon, strong bitter hops and grass. Body: Full body. Oily palate. Mouth Feel: Rich dark maltyness in a very viscous background. Immense chili flesh with notable heat, and flickering smokiness. Concentrated black coffee, toffee and caramel but light on chocolate. Creamy, flowery with syrupy sweetness. Strong liquorices but booze is well hidden. Yeasty, herbal spicy biscuity with lemon to round. Sweet and spunky! Hoppiness: Floral, spices, dill, earth, citrus and grass in nose. Earth, floral, spices, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is strong for a lasting, high astringent sweet-bitter roasted dark malty finish. After Taste: Quite dry. Earthy chili spicy and bitter to mouth. Comments: As a chili-heavy RIS, this one's spicyness is manifested in good fruity chili aroma and taste, while the heat is certainly tolerable and lands much of the beer's smoky character. The Sorachi Ace contributes good herbal hoppy elements and the strong booze is superbly managed. It's right up there with the best. Recommended!
4.2 Bottle. Color: Black, light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, chocolate, spicy hints. Taste: Dark roasted malt, starting medium sweet with well balanced notes of coffee, mocha, caramel and chocolate. After a few seconds the subtle but clearly present spicy pepper notes come in. Smoky hints. Warming peppery mouthfeel at finish, but the peppers are not completely overwhelming fortunately. Full body, below average carbonation, Bit creamy. Nice complex Imperial Stout.
4.2 375ml bottle served in a chalice glass. Pours an creamy oily black color forming a medium creamy and persistent dark beige head that leaves only few spotty lacings formed and left in the glass. Delicious nose. Strong notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, licorice and earth. Light booze. Sweet upfront taste. Strong notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, licorice, Oreo and grassy hops. Good persistent and lingering bitterness. Good bittersweet balance. Heavy body. Medium to low carbonation. Dark chocolate aftertaste. Great drinkability. Masterpiece
4.1 Vaguely sweet, roasted smoky chocolate and slightly too much liquorice but very nice. Good chilli burn aftertaste
4.1 37,5cl fles. Zwart bier met bruin schuim. Geur: aards, hout, wat bacon, cured ham, oude balsamico, hout, ietwat vanille, wat koffie. Smaak: zoete aanzet, alcoholisch, wat prikkelende peper, wat rook, ietwat bitter, wat chocolade. Matige koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht kleverig, licht bitter, ietwat zuurtjes.
4.0 Well stored bottle. Black body with a nice, dense beige head that lasts for a long time. Nice aroma, strong, dark malt, alcohol, wood, vanilla and some coffee. Flavor is sweet, rich, dark malt, some wood and vanilla in the background, quite boozy in a nice way, some licorice as well but I was not able to detect any chilly. Might have lost most of its power by 4-5 years. Fine body and long lasting warming alcoholic aftertaste. A solid one, quite boozy but seems to balance it somehow.

3.6 Nothing special here. Typical imperial stout, some coffe, vanilla, hint of chillies.
3.6 Zapachy lekko słodkawe; czekolada, wanilia, trochę alkoholu. Piana dość obfita, w ładnym, kremowym kolorze. W smaku fajnie zbalansowane, w słodką stronę. Papryczek tak w miarę, żeby poczuć coś tam. Tekstura oleista. Dobre piwo, tylko męczy w większych niż 0,2 ilościach. Przynajmniej mnie.
3.2 Słabo ledwo co czuc to chilli, diacetyl, sporo alkoholu. Paloność fajna dlugo zostaje
3.9 Czarne, nieprzejrzyste, piana drobna, dosc dlugo zostaje na powierzchni. W aromacie czekolada, rum, rodzynki. W smaku dosc ulozone, delikatny alkohol przysloniony dosc intensywna ostroscia chilli.
