3.9Bottle from drinkshop. Aroma: chocolate, alcohol, dried fruit, leather, nuts. Dark color with ruby notes, small brown head, medium carbonation, full body, oily texture. Taste: fruity, coffee, chocolate, roasty, higher bitterness.
4.2Bottle from drinkshop.sk
Oh, actually we never met before. But it's nice to see friendly face after family gathering. It wasn't bad of course, but I didn't want to share gems of my beer cellar. This black imperial is the balsam I needed. Dark chocolate, leather, resin. All blend well together. Excellent.
4.4Pours black, creamy, with a brown head and not much lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and leather. Tastes bitter, the roasty type of bitter, strong dark malts, chocolate, wood, leather, booze. Some tart fruitiness towards the end, before a dry finish. Full bodied, thick and tasty, can clearly see Buxton's hand here. Excellent iStout.
3.9Black, little dark brown head. Aroma is licorice, some kind of fish, roast. Taste is roasted malt, licorice, alcohol, slight cocoa. Aftertaste is bitter roast and hops. Very warming. Full body, low carbonation. Medium sweet, medium bitter, also some acid in the taste. Overall very good but too much ABV for my taste. Not easily drinkable, needs time.
Licorosa. Alcohol bien integrado aunque se deja notar. BOTELLA. BB 11/01/2027
3.7Bottle (at koht). Pours black. Aroma is sweet, roast, licorice. Flavor is bitter, roast, licorice, somewhat acidic, licorice, malt. Finish is roasty. Covers alcohol well. Overall: very good.
3.4Rami Rami is drinking a Long Time No See by To Øl at garwolińska
Melasa, owoce, oczywiscie czeko, kawa, jakies ziemiste klimaty, niemalo ciala, gorzkie posmaki...dobre piwko, ale przehajpowane. Alko jest
3.4Aromat wyraznie alkoholowy, estry, melasa. Dopiero w tle czekolada, melano, orzechy. Barwa czarna nieprzejrzysta, malo piany. W smaku kwaskowosc, troche slodyczy i melano. Goryczka umiarkowana, slodowa. Pelnia spora i wysoki alkohol na finiszu.
3.4Z: jakby jakaś beczka. Taka słodycz po whisky, może bardziej rum. Raz estrowe, raz wytrawnie. S: słodko, gryząca palonosc. Słodko, ciut mlecznie. Finisz łagodniejszy i aftertaste palony.
3.3W aromacie kawa, palone slody, alko, pumpernikiel. W smaku sporo spalonego ciasta i dużo alko. Meh/10
4.1Small brown head. Aroma: dark chocolate, roast, coffee, licorice, vanilla, nuts, caramel, dried plums. Intensive. Taste is full of chocolate, dark fruits, coffee, caramel. Some sourness. Alcohol could be better hidden, noticable on finish. Texture is extremaly oily, creamy. Full body, low carbonation. Very nice imperial stout.
4.1Black colored, medium creamy dark tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, dark chocolate, bit dark fruit, coffee, some alcohol notes. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, roasted, milk and dark chocolate notes, bit dark fruit, medium+ roasty and bitter chocolate bitterness, dryish finish, some alcohol with warmth, lasting bitter choco aftertaste. Full bodied, soft carbonation, creamy.
(on tap, Salt Horse, Edinburgh)
4.3Bottle at home, 16th September 17. Pours black and viscous. Aroma is intense, dark chocolate, bitter, dry, liquorice, roasted malts, bitter hops, a top notch imperial stout, no sign of the abv, great stuff
4.3Aroma: 8
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee.
Appearance: 5
Opaque dark brown/black beer with a slight/medium dark brown head.
Taste/Palate: 9/4
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, vanilla, chocolate and mocha; ends medium bitter and dry with roasted malts and coffee.
Overall: 17
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Insane amount of roasted malts and hop bitterness, making this very bitter and dry for its style. Perfect appearance and a great aroma and palate too.
4.1Bottled at Nov 2014, 2.5 years old botte. A head is small and dark brown. Aroma has strong salt liquirice and liqirice, dried and riped fruits, sweetness, some roastiness and alcohol. Brilliant aroma. Intensive taste has salt liquirice, roastiness, some coffee, also herbal bitterness, not so complex and more dominating as compared to aroma. Full bodied, low carbonation, hint of stickyness. Very tasteful and succesfully beer, if believed to mistake during the brewing.
3.8from boxbeer.dk
pitch dark, smooth brown head.
really nice roasted malty aroma with a faint whiskey or bourbon like note to it.
flavor is roasted malts, dry, bitter medicinal notes (cough syrup, herbs, bitter, krabask - could be some really weird wood effect). an extremely bitter imperial stout, the bitterness actually has an english feel to it, reminds me of some of the more bitter english kinds of hops.
4.433cl bottle. Had this beer a few times, a great Imperial Stout, right up my alley. Pitch black, viscous, velvety dark tan head. Tons of roast, dark malts, smoke, roasted coffee beans, light soy sauce, more roast. Very roasty bitter, full body, thick and viscous, low carbonation. Excellent stuff!
3.6Wyraźny aromat czekoladowo kawowy, do tego nuty chlebowe. W smaku dominuje kawa zbożowa, z ziołową goryczką, dosyć mocna kwaskowość. Czarne nieprzejrzyste, piana niewielka brązowa, otoczka utrzymuje się dosyć długo. Alkohol przyzwoicie ukryty, czuć rozgrzewanie w gardle. Bardzo przyjemny aromat, ale w smaku drażniąca kwaśność. Podobny profil do Odysei z Radugi, ale tamto zdecydowanie lepsze.
4.1Bottle shared at home. Pitch black colour, a fat finger brown head, with amazing retention for 12.8% ABV. Nose is molasses, chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is low-medium bitterness, some ashy sourness. Perfectly hidden alcohol, smooth mouthfeel. Amazing smell, feels a little bit weightless from the sour notes.
4.5Bottle 33 ’best before 11 jan 2027’ !!! :-)))
4.0Keg at Salt Horse. Pours oily black, dark brown head. Nose is big roast, tar, light liqorice, coffee, bitterish. Tastes huge bitter roast - this is not for the ones expecting sugary sweet IS. There is sweetness as well though, just bitter roast fronted, cocoa, caramel, coffee. First I thought its too roasty and bitter but its in fact nice to have sth like this after a while. Excellent heavily hopped and roasted IS.
3.4Prime stout for those whom enjoy some bitterness in them. Black coffee and dry smoke with a lingering aftertaste, but nothing well outside whats expected of a craft stout.
3.1Very dark imperial stout with an aroma of black, bitter coffee and resin. Slight carbonation. "Does not hide its alcohol well" per this site’s well-loved phrases.
3.8Tap @ Mikkeller. Pours black with a Brown head. Aroma of Cocoa, roasted malts, slight smoke, Coffee and liquorice. Taste of Cocoa, Coffee, roasted malts, weak smoke, dark chocolate and liquorice.
3.7Pitch black with light to moderate, thick, light brown head. Good head retention and poor lacing. Roasted as hell, dark chocolate, coffee balanced with milky, lactose sweetness. Taste id heavy sweet and light heavy bitter - very long, slightly increasing. ABV is perfectly hidden. Medium to full body, thick texture, soft carbonation. In overall very roasty and bitter. Not my favorite type of imperial stout, but all in all good one.
3.8Opaque black beer, bubbly brown head. Aroma of chocolate and earthy malt. Flavour has a proper hit, where a lot of these rich, imperial stouts manage to hide it. Not especially alcohol-tasting, just a big hit. Bitter, earthy malt. Dark chocolate. Liquorice. . An almost charcoal-y aftertaste. It probably isn’t my favourite imperial stout, but it’s a big hitter by any measure and while I might not rush back for more I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at it.
3.6Looks fenomenal; black with big, steady dark brown head. Aroma: sweet chocolate, carakel, roast. Full body, medium sweetness, medium bitterness. Chocolate flavour dominated by roastiness. Long ashy finish, although perfectly hidden alcohol.
