To Øl / Mikkeller Overall IIPA

To Øl / Mikkeller Overall IIPA

English: English: Overall IIPA is - as the name denotes - an Imperial India Pale Ale created in close collaboration between To Øl and our good friends from Mikkeller. The mission was to create a hommage to the American beerculture, where beers needs to have flavour, taste and style, contrary to the urine-colored pseudo beer that we often drink in Denmark!

By first draught Overall IIPA has a sligthly caramelized malt profile, which gives you time to rest before your tastebuds are bombarded by a plethora of hop sensations, giving you hints of pines, citrus and grape. These are just barely harnessed by the sweetness of the alcohol. You suddenly realise that Overall IIPA is "overall" in your mouth and that drinking is living. For a short while you forget your tax-payments, work and the dishes. You relax and your shoulders drop down a couple of inches. You get carried away in a dream before you realise that your glass is empty and you need another one! Cheers!

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, flaked oats, hops (Simcoe, Amarillo and Centennial) and yeast.

3.8 330ml bottle. @home 23-03-2015. Courtesy of lukasmh. Thanks a lot!!. BBD: 01-07-2016. In short: robust ipa. Pours hazy dark gold-orange with frothy off white head. Moderate head retention, poor lacing. Pine, resins, earthy, malty and caramel nose. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is quite bitter, peachy, pine, fruity, some caramel, dry aftertaste. Robust beer, quite enjoyable.
W aromacie i smaku silnie zaakcentowane żywiczne igliwie i cytrusy. Pełne body. Przebija trochę alkohol. Piwo dość wymagające, ale nie "męczące".
4.0 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a white lasting foamy head. Lots of lacing around the glass. Aroma is of caramel, honey, pine, brown sugar, orange. Taste is of burnt caramel, grapefruit, pineapple. Long bitter finish. Chewy mouthfeel, soft carbonation.
3.3 Draft at one mile house nyc. Pours a tan color with a nice head that fades. Very hoppy taste with a nice balance that blends well. Pretty good.
3.8 330mL bottle from Molloy’s. The expectation from a collaboration brew from these two is pretty high I must say. Hoppy(duh) aroma and flavour, pretty fantastic, but with a slight more of a sweet malt backbone that is a little out of balance and leaves the finish a bit cloying, end of the beer gets a little chewy, still a wonderful IIPA though.
4.2 Bottle. Cloudy amber with a small filmy head. Reisin, pine hop aroma with some sweet fruit, a hint of something sour. Super bitter hops make themselves known immediately, sweet tropical fruit balance against the pine hops.
3.5 Aroma of pine and some tropical fruits, taste is piney, citrus, some malt, worth a try!
4.0 Bottle from Hop City Birmingham. Pours cloudy gold with foamy white head, Aroma of citrus fruits and hops. Tastes of very bitter hops with citrus and booze. Boozy and hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good.
3.0 Lovely cloudy orange golden color with a fine off white head. Nice lacing. Rich fruity and rich citrus hoppy aroma. Some alcohol. Full body. A bit unbalanced sweetness vs bitterness. Oily texture and a soft carbonation. Rich tropical fruity, a bit harse hoppy and some alcohol coming up. A bit unbalanced and some alcohol in both flavor and aroma drags it down. [Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends Bottleshop in Copenhagen, Denmark]
4.1 Bottle from Magasin du Nord, Kongens Nytorv, CPH - (new label/fresh batch) fuzzy orange amber pour with puffy off-white head. Big hoppy tropical fruity aroma and taste, deep caramel malts, toffee, fudge, hop resin and prominent topical grapefruit and peach on the palate, pine needles, dry bitter finish. Stand out DIPA!
4.5 Very strong hoppy smell. Almost an eteric oil strong one. Pours with quite some head, brown-ish. First taste is full bodied, very well balanced and you just search for the 408 ibu bitterness, but it’s not there! It comes after you swallow and pleasantly dries your mouth. An excellent beer!
4.0 caramel, bread, citrus, alcohol, amber, hazy, minimal head, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, full body, oily feel, soft carbonation, bitter,
4.8 APPEARANCE - Opaque orange amber with a 1-finger head that dissipates. Good lacing. AROMA/SCENT - Sweet, piney, hops. TASTE - Well-balanced. Sweet, piney, hops. ABV well-hidden. MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Not gooey. Reasonable carbonation. VALUE - A bit high. OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - Excellent mix of Imperial IPA and Belgian themes. Quaffable.
3.7 Bottle at Beer Ditch, Malmö. Hazy orange/red with a creamy head. Hoppy aroma and taste with grapefruit, tropical fruit, hay and some caramel. The finish was bitter and with some warming alcohol.
3.1 @ Beer Ditch 14-11-22: ganska tydelig malt.
4.1 Dens syrlige arme holder mig fast til gulvet. Tak for en hed aften.
Top !
3.9 Bottle. Completely hazy orange pour with sticky white head. Aroma is solid with huge amount of tropical fruit. Taste is balanced with nice bitterness and sweetness to balance it. Heavy body and low carbonation
3.5 330 ml bottle at home - 2011 vintage (I know, not good for a IIPA) - anyhow: pours clear dark orange to golden, fine white head. Nose is harsh pine and musty peach. Medium to full body, decent dose of sweetness to nicely balance out the bitterness. Taste is still loads of tangerine and grapefruit peel and juice. Like it more in the taste than in the nose.
3.8 A donation in a way from ciaranc. Cheers. Pours amber with lasting white head. Citrus, pine aroma. Plenty of caramel malt background with a medium bitter finish. Nice.
3.6 Robe legerement orangée, carbo moyenne, collet moyen persistant, belle dentelle.
3.5 (330ml bottle) Pours a lightly hazy yellow body with a moderate white head. Aroma of herbs, grass, manure, grapefruit, and caramel. Flavor of grass, herbaceous, citrus, sugary, stone fruit, and a noticeable alcohol bite and sticky finish.
Lite spritig kanske.
3.8 Bottle from Mogwai Bar. Smell of hops and some fruits. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Taste is hoppy and sweet with some tropical fruits. Palate is oily and sticky and bit stray. Overall a nice DIPA which is very tasteful.
4.2 Bottle from Drinkstore, left the last one in a fridge at elbernays wedding. Hazy orange amber, decent white head, lasting. Citrus, zest, orange peel, caramel, grapefruit notes in the aroma. Big bittersweet flavour, loads of body, decent carbonation, huge complex finish. Gorgeous.
4.0 Flaska. Mycket god beska men tyvärr något lite alkoholgenomslag.
3.6 33 cl bottle @ home. Pours cloudy amber with a white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma and flavour are pine, peach, citrus, and caramel - with a bitter finish. ABV is pretty well hidden.
3.2 Bottle at Øltorget, Oslo. Pours hazy orange with a big creamy white head. Strong citrus and orange aroma. Taste of mango, orange and some heavy alcohol, too much to enjoy. Dry finish.
