3.8 Murky brown/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, some funk, caramel, dark fruit, hops, & spice; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel, molasses, dark fruit, spicy hops, and some citrus; Warm finish; Nicely balanced; Solid.
3.9 Vintage: couple a’ years ago. Pours coppery-brown and cloudy with a small light tan head. Aroma is leather, vanilla-oak and mellowed malts. Taste is smooth, creamy vanilla, carob and light molasses. This could pair with ice cream. Nice.
3.8 Some sweetness, dried fruits, apricot, caramel, dark amber with a good ocher head, full body, carbonation is quite soft, taste is similar...maybe not very intense but good.
4.0 Bottled. The aroma has red fruits, raisin, red wine, caramel. Dark red coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is light bitter and has fruity sweetness. Nice, full and complex.
4.3 Bottle at home, reddish brown beer, small head. Aroma is malt, caramel, sweet, dried fruit. Taste is the same, sweet syrupy aftertaste, very very nice.
3.6 light fruit aroma, amber, hazy, off white foam, light sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, nice harmonich finish.
3.4 Amber coloured and hazy.Has a white head, medium duration. Heavy aroma, notes of herbal hops and lots of sweet sugars.
3.8 Bottle @ home. Aroma of dark sweet caramel, heavy malt, some dark fruits, some sweet boozy. Clear brown with off-white head, not lasting. Taste is heavy sweet, light boozy, some bitterness. Full body, oily thick feel and sweet malty finish.
4.4 Bottle, 0,375l, shared with my colleagues. Pours hazy orange brown color with rocky tan-like head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of toasted malt, candy sugar, dried fruit and yeast. Taste starts with medium sweet toasted malt and caramel, following fruity with candy sugar note and mild spiciness, mouthfeel is warming with well hidden alcohol, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, syrupy texture and average carbonation in palate. Mine was better than yours...
4.7 The aroma of caramel and whiskey; Taste the bright sweet (but not off-putting), dominates a little burnt sugar and dried fruits; a slight bitterness and spice, add a pleasant aftertaste; Drink well; Recommend; Moscow, Craft Republic
4.2 Bottle as Christmas present thanks to s_Hartshorne, cheers Shane. Dark amber beer with medium head and decent lacing. Aroma of malts, tangerine, toffee, fruity and boozy port. Taste is rich malts, boozy, some wine, apple, fruity, toffee and a hint of a tang. Medium bodied and oily. Overall, solid. Excellent.
3.4 Deep mahogany pour, small off white head. Mild sweet cherry aroma, with notes of candied fruits. Very sweet flavor, of cherry, dates, caramel, sugar, dates, prunes, booze. Interesting but too sweet and perhaps a bit thin.
4.6 Bottle from Bradleys. Best before 2026. Hazy copper with little head. Sour fruit aroma. Really smooth and fresh. Sweet fruit with a tart finish and nice hop profile. Spectacular barley wine.
3.6 Poured from a 375 ml bottle with a 2024 best by date. Aroma is very malt forward with lots of caramel, toasted bread and hints of toffee. Some light honey notes. Some medium light hop notes that are woodsy and herbal. Light burnt sugar notes. Pours brown with some burnt amber hues and a medium sized, thick, tan head that recedes slowly to this edges where it lingers as a thin film. Medium light lacing and medium legs. Flavor is very sweet with lots of caramel, light toffee and burnt sugar. Light honey notes. Moderate raisin and dried stone fruit character. Medium to medium high bitterness with a light woodsy hop note. Light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent barleywine. The sweetness is a bit too much, but the malt profile is nice and the hops and bitterness are fairly well balanced.
3.8 Bottle. Orange copper color. Nice aroma of candisugar, raisin, toffee and caramelised malt. Full taste of sticky raisin, candisugar, caramelised malt, ripe fruit, raisin, plume, mild booze, yeast and a warming finish. Nice dessert wine-ish stuff.
3.9 Bottle. Amber color, creamy foam. Aroma: plum wine, a barrel, a little sour, candy. Taste: sweet wine, bitter, barrel, plum wine, strong alcohol, dried apple, very warming.
4.3 Deep clear copper/amber with a large foamy and sticky ivory cap. Big sticky nose of deep Belgian candy sugar, apple, cherry, brown sugar and boozy phenols. Huge boozy flavor that’s brown sugary, some candy sugar, stone fruit, subtle earthy bitterness, and more boozy phenols at the end with a earthy caramelly sweetness.
4.2 Butelka. Barwa ciemno miedziana, mętna. Piana średniej wysokości bardzo trwała. Aromat intensywny cytrusy, owoce. Smak mocno cytrusowy, kandyzowane owoce. Finisz lekko kwaskawy. Konsystencja oleista, likierowa, bardzo pijalne oraz bardzo treściwe. Wysycenie niskie, goryczka średnia, grejpfrutowo-owocowo-żywiczna, niezalegająca. Alkohol delikatnie grzeje w podniebienie.
3.5 Bottle 37;5cl, a cloudy amber beer with low head. Nose is on barley sugar, ripped fruits such as apples and oranges. Taste is very sweet, aroma is on barley sugar, tannic, notes of banana, quince and orange. Finish is on dry grapes and white vine notes.
3.9 Aromat trochę nieułożony, alkoholowy (ale dość świeży egzemplarz otwarłem), natomiast i tak znalazło się tu miejsce dla sporej ilości owoców (czereśnie, jeżyny, cytrusy), odrobiny żywicy i słodkich ciateczek. W smaku gęste, cukrowe, rodzynkowe, ale klawo skontrowane ziołową goryczką i lekkim cytrusem w posmaku. Barley Wine - klasa !
4.2 Piana dość obfita, gruba, szybko opada do mięsistej chmurki ładnie krążkując. Barwa miedziana, mętna. Aromat to kombinacja amerykańskich chmieli (cytrusy, tropiki, żywica) i konkretnej podstawy słodowej (karmel, ciasto drożdżowe, keks).
3.7 Pours dark amber with high bronze white head Aromas of caramel, sweet fruits, sweet bread, dried fruits, alcohol, hints of fudge Taste has loads of caramel, candi syrup, sweet fruits, hints of dried fruits, wee bit oakyness, wee bit buttery Mouthfeel is sweet, round, wee bit sticky alcohol, medium carbonation, low bitterness
3.9 sample, poured a chesnut light amber colour with a light tanned head on top. nose of sweet caramel malts, toffee, raisins, nuts, honey sweetness, plums, and butterscotch. taste is sweet, with even a slight chocolate sweetness in the back. full bodied with a sticky mouthfeel. very enjoyable barley, would love this on bourbon barrels
3.7 Bottle. Pours a l copper Amber with a dissipating tan head and sweet fruity, slight wine aroma. Taste is strong, with lots of fruit throughout along with alcohol, sweet malty notes, caramel, and hops into the long finish.
3.7 With Z, pours an amber reddish pour with no head. Nose is fruity and sweet and nicely aromatic . Taste is also fruity, and sweet with some tannins and noticeable alcohol. Finishes on the same sweet fruity notes with a moderately long finish. Nice sipper ! Quaff Score 8 / 10
Carbonazione media. Alcol in grande evidenza. Ottimo barley wine.
3.7 Backlog............................ Tap @ Mikkeller & Friends, Copenhagen 20131016.
