To Øl Sans Frontière

"Heaven knows no frontiers, and I’ve seen heaven in your eyes"

This is how the Frontier beer series lost their ground, missed direction and finally found themselves again. This beer has no frontiers, meaning that it can now pick and choose among brewing specialties. Instead of being an IPA, this is a rather a Belgian ale, hopped and dryhopped with continental european hops and refermented with brettanomyces.
A tart, picturesque and rural beer.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, hops, Rock Candy, yeast and brettanomyces.

4.0 Bottle courtesy of Geraint and Helen, consumed at home, Friday 5th June 2015 Fresh, zippy nose, lively zesty with brett showing but in a balanced way. Lightly tart, and a touch of funkiness, possibly beer of the evening. Great stuff. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0
3.3 Light Brett aroma, with a hint of hops, the rock candy dominates the flavour, making it just too sweet , would have liked more Brett or hop dominance .
3.4 Cloudy honey orange/brown color, small white head. Some hops, but surprisingly mild. Sweet taste with sour finish, yeasty. Medium body, average carbonation. Expected much more. (Svijet Piva 0,75l bottle)
3.2 Bottled 750ml. -at Svijet Piva Zagreb. Cloudy orange coloured, medium sized white to off-white head, slight fruity nose. Moderate malty, spicy, yeasty, fruity and notes of alcohol with touch of brett in rather bitter finish. Smooth and easy going brew but to be honest pretty ordinary.
3.7 Aroma of Brett, and a mild farmyard fragrance. The pour is a cloudy orange with white ring and a small amount of lacing. The taste is a strong farm house ale. Brett, slight citrus, and mild farmhouse funk. Delightful. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, DELIGHTFUL,
3.6 Hazy/cloudy amber/brown color, big white head. Aroma of coriander, yeast, malt, some hoppiness. Taste is malty, very fruity, spicy, peachy. Medium body, soft carbonation. Mainly sweet, but also slightly bitter. Not bad, but too expensive for what it is. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
4.2 Bottle at Delirium Café together with Mathieu87, thanks! Orangewith quite a big head. It’s very Orval-like, but more like a young one. There’s hints of brett, yeast, herbs, nice bitterness. Very nice beer.
3.7 Bottle 0.7l. Cloudy yellowish orange liquid with average off white head. Medium body. Medium bitterness. Spices. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.5 4cl sample at Mikkeller Bangkok beer week. Thin white head. very hazy amber pour. A very different beer. Slight tartness with a nicely balanced bitterness. Very intertesting
3.2 75 cl Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Lightly hazy orange color, full sized soapy white head. Smells saison-ish, a little yeasty, a slight hint of brett. Taste lightly malts, again some brett, some herbs or spices, lightly bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Ok but not really my thing.
3.5 Bottle @ home. Hazy amber colour with a large off-white head. Smells sourish in a not nice way. Tastes fruity, sweetish.. Nothing crazy, but nice. Medium body, soft carbo. Fruity.
3.4 Bottle @home. Amber orange color with a big off-white head. Smells and tastes sour, sweet, fruity.
3.6 Tap at Mikkeller Bangkok. Poured a hazy mediun amber with a thin white head and a little broken lace. The aroma is yeast, slightly vinous. The flavour is light sour with a crisp, refreshing, vinous, light spicy citrus hop palate. Mediun bodied with soft carbonation.
3.6 Bottle. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is brett, malt, hop, fruit, yeast, spices. Flavour is brett, malt, hop, fruit, yeast, spices, orange. Nice beer.
3.6 7% bottle from CBB. Served in a snifter. A great ruby caramel pour with a minimal off-white head. A big zesty fruity malt aroma. A very tannic bitter malt taste with a solid citrusy fruity flavor. Very much fruity caramel bitter malts with citrusy hops.
3.9 Bottle. Belgian yeasty aroma, bit of Brett, pineapple, booze. Taste is pineapple cubes, booze, minerals, lightly bitter. Good stuff. Bit of boozy sweetness.
2.0 750ml bottles from Beers of Europe. Hazy reddish orange brown colour, big head. Flowery wheat aroma. Sour yeasty grain flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Don’t really like this one.
3.6 Bottle. Amber body, almost clear, with a huge white head. Aroma of apples, oranges, caramel, light bretty. Taste of apples, toffee, pepper and brett. Thick body for a brett beer, seems strange though doesn’t lower the beer. Dry and nice finish, though the sweet toffee is still present. Different and nice.
3.6 Food beer Kind of weird Little tart Candy sugar Caramel Soft carbonated Medium light bosy
3.4 Light fruity, amber malts, plus some biscuit base/ Add some light brown sugar and clearly Belgian yeast to add some sweetness to the mix. Moderately hopped with a mix that was a bit too light and lemony for me. Didn’t really fit the beer. Looks good though and has the fitting heavy carbonation. Brett? Not much to be honest. We did drink it a bit too warm though. Certainly no Orval clone! (Bottle shared by Valentin in between festival sessions during the 1FRBG)
2.0 Tap. Hazy, brown, tan foam, lightly sour, light sweetness, medium body, soft carbonation, & bitter finish.
