To Øl Shameless Santa

Ever got the idea that Santa likes to give out presents during christmas? Wrong! Mr. Saint Nicolaus or whatever his name is, likes to sit in his leather chair or or on the ice bear carpet, dipping bread crumbs in his cheese fondue and eats chocolate like Sylvester Stallone eats cottage cheese. And then Santa likes to drink Shameless Santa. A Belgian strong Red Ale, playing and using all the cheap tricks of the trade. Caramel malts, sugars, highly attenuated yeast profile, fruity novel hops as Mandarina Bavaria and Calypso. This is one greasy balanced beer that suits any situation involving Christmas, New Years Eve and any other event that involves roasted marshmallows.

3.6 Tap (100 Beers, Tallinn) 2017 vintage (7:4:7:4:14=3.6) Dark brown, persistent tight beige head. Pumpkinny and spicy aroma, but quite mellow. Full palate, smooth, gentle carbonation. Similar taste, sweet mellow bruin malts, toffee, pumpkin, gentle spices. Pleasant sipper. Finish a little dry and bitter, but still quite sugary. Nice one.
3.7 Na salóne piva september 2019. Vona: citrusová Farba: hnedo cervena Chut: silná alkoholova citrusová s karamelom
3.6 750ml bottle at the Beer Jerk Bunker bottle share, thanks to Max. Pours red brown. Dried cranberry, raisin, biscuit, damson, tart red fruit, chocolate, touch of toffee. Medium body. Very nice.
3.0 Sampled at Taphouse. Medium high fluffy white head. Hazy dark amber body. Sweet berries aroma, mix of rapsberries and strawberries. Alcohol dominated sweet roasted malt caramel straw flavor with little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long sweet finish. Unfortunately too boozy taste.
3.3 Draught Huge orangey-tinted cream head, very dense, and quite regular over reddish foxy-brown beer; rings of lace. Caramel, toffee, banana, after shave, liqueurwine, rosewater, oxydated over-exposed wine. Bitterish, woody character, more fortified wine, raisins, banana, X-mas cake. Finish is chocolate with reduced Madeira sauce. Seems very well-bodied at first, hopoil-slick, but somehow, the finish is thin. Starts trying to overpower, then peters out. Not convincing.
3.8 On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours hazy copper with off-white head. Aroma of dark dried fruits, caramel, ethanol. Tastes sweet with some bitterness. Medium bodied, alcoholic warmth and sharpness.
4.4 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy brown colour, large and creamy beige head. Very nice aroma and flavour of Christmas spices (not overdone though), brown kandij sugar and caramel, also some vinous notes. Decent hops in the finish. Well balanced, a very good beer.
3.6 God juleøl,appelsin, karamell, for syrlig for min smak
3.9 Særdeles god og velsmagende juleøl. Masser af fylde. Tilpas bitterhed. God aroma
3.8 On tap @ Brus, Oslo. Dark brown body with a stable tan head. Nice aroma of dark malt, dry fruit, chocolate, spices and warming alcohol. Flavor like aroma, quite sweet, nice and pleasant. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste of sweet malt, spices, bitter and warming alcohol. Pretty solid sipper.
4.1 Bottle from 100 piv. Aroma: dried fruit, caramel, candy sugar, spice. Hazy ruby color, long lasting huge white head, full body, oily texture, medium to high carbonation. Taste: caramel, raisins, little bit of licorice, alcohol, honey. Slightly hoppy in the end. Really like it.
3.7 v sokolovni. prijemna sladkasta alkoholova vona. tmavojantarova farba. chut vyrazna alkoholova intenzivna. na konci ostava.
3.7 10%ABV. Belgian quad/abt. Poured out amber-brown. 28ºSRM. Nose is malt candy sweet and with a musty dusty aroma note. Mouthfeel is watered honey. Palate has barley toast, graham cracker, bread crusts. Malt palate is full-bodied and leans towards being bready. There is a thin pervasive sweetness that runs through the palate. Hop flavors are wood with a hint fo sap, incense and perfume. Finish is a little warming and boozy. Overall, pretty good and reminiscent of a Westvleteren 12.
3.7 Big 750ml bottle from the brewery. 2017 version at 10.5%Aroma is yeasty fruit but dominTed by the cinamon. Taste rich spicy and light sweet. Medium to fUll body.
3.8 -late tap- Gingerbread, caramel and fruity finish. A great balanced sipper.
3.5 Not my fave of one of my favorite styles. Too much burn, and something a tiny bit off in the nose and the taste, and a bit thin in the taste department. Now, what did I like you wonder? Light reddish appearance, fine spotted lace, somewhat hazy appearance, some dark fruit in the nose and taste. Mouthfeel good, syrupy. Hmm better as it warms. Go Santa go.
3.5 Amber, hazy. Aroma dominated by typical christmas spices. Taste not so much, more dates, figs and raisins. Some yeastiness and bitterness also comes along.
3.7 750ml bottle shared with Egil Børge, Leif, Odd and Finn. Big, bubbly off-white head with fine duration. Dark apricot coloured body, decent lacework on the glass. Dried fruity aroma, doughy. Rich malt-fruity taste including caramel, wood and dried fruits sustained by a touch of cinnamon. Lingering malt-fruity ending, rather sweet. Slow sipper with Yuletide qualities. (Tasting session of Christmas beers, Tromsø 17.11.2017).
3.1 750ml bottle. Rather beastly Belgian Amber Strong Ale type thing. Heavy handed, not really nailing it in a Belgian way. The amber malt is thick, lending a big cherry tone. Odd fusel tinged Winter Warmer aroma. Malt liquor like at times, not unlike a Barleywine as well. Not really that impressive of an offering.
3.8 DWFADSJT; Poured moderate, hazy cover with a lasting, lacing off-white head. Nose is moderate to heavy, malt, sugar, yeast, moderate citrus, spice and light floral. Taste is heavy sweet and bitter with a lasting sweet, sugary, malt finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.4 Moderate foaming beer with fine aroma of caramel and dried fruits. The taste varies over a little plum and raisin, thyme and anise. It has a slightly sharp taste of alcohol in the end, but generally it seems that it is a bit too messy in its composition. There is no theme or edge in the flavors, but it is okay.
3.1 Piana obfita, drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, niezbyt trwała. Barwa czerwono bursztynowa, lekko opalizująca. W aromacie troszkę owoców w typie gruszek, jabłek, czereśni, do tego karmel i odrobina ziół. W smaku półsłodkie, głównie dojrzałe czerwone owoce, karmel, ciemny cukier, migdały i solidna goryczkowa kontra z pestkowym posmakiem. Niskie wysycenie, rozgrzewający alkohol, oleista faktura. Generalnie wyszło dość ciężkie, deserowe piwo, z mało intensywnym zapachem i na dłuższą metę męczące.
3.5 old backlog. Trademark estery belgian brown strong ale. Sweet, maltym with notes of dried fruits.
4.2 750ml bottle. Pours a deep amber with slight off white head. Fruit and spice on the nose. Starts off as a medium body which quickly develops into a full body. Flavour is originally bitter but again quickly develops into an extremely rich sweet fruit and spice profile. The finish is a little bit of a let down as the alcohol comes through and the compelxity wears off. I would love to put another bottle down for a few years to see if this removes the end tastes.
3.6 Bottle a brown colored beer with a white head aroma malts caramel dark fruits spicy some hops flavor malts caramel fruits spicy dark fruits and hops
3.8 Bottle, 10.0%. Rather weak fruity aroma. Almost clear dark amber colour. Big stable white head. The flavour starts off fruity and a little citric. A sort of woody citric note. Slightly sweetish flavour, dried fruit and mostly mellow alcohol. Has a little alcohol bitterness in the finish.
3.6 Nearly clear amber, white head. Malty aroma, some dried fruit, yeast, caramel. Flavour is sweetish with malt and dark sugar. Alc warmth, slightly boozy. Has some citrus sourness in the finish.
