Tommyknocker Alpine Glacier Pilsner

Tommyknocker Alpine Glacier Pilsner

Tommyknockers slipped into the mining camps in the 1800’s with the discovery of gold to the West. The majestic Rocky Mountains have inspired the cool refreshing taste of Alpine Glacier Lager. As clean and fresh as the rushing water from icy streams and as brisk as a climb up a frozen glacier, this brew contains the finest ingredients in the Tommyknocker tradition.

3.3 Bottle pours a slightly hazy orange with a full white head. Full malty aroma. Taste is semi-sweet pils malts and a slight hoppiness on the finish. Crisp and refreshing, but the taste is uninteresting.
3.1 Pours a light golden orange with a nice off-white head. Grainy aroma with subtle notes of citrus. Nicely malty up front with an aged note to it. Bitterness is not overbearing and the palette is average, as I like them to be more on the dry side. Not bad. I could get a six pack if I had the opportunity and couldn’t find anything else. Also noted... I picked this up at Country Garden 6-pack along with some good Pork Lo Mein.
2.7 Clear golden with a spicy saaz leafiness with a pale pilsner malt aroma. Kinda faint smelling overall. Flavor was light and pilsner-y, with some light saaz pepperiness and light pilsner grainy maltiness. Light bodied but at least tastes the way it’s supposed to.
2.1 Not impressive or distinct. Faint malty smell. Clear golden color with fizzy head. A step above macro brews but not by much. Average carbonation with grassy and malty taste but nothing notable. Not many flavors here. It stayed true to the style but doesn’t separate itself from the masses. Easy to drink and should go well with most bar foods.
2.4 August 26th, 2010 - Tommyknocker has borrowed from Coors’ marketing department to pitch their Glacier pilsner, evoking the images of sparkling clean snowcapped mountains to draw parallels to their crisp and clean pilsner. Sadly, the analogy doesn’t hold up. While Tommyknocker’s darker brunettes seem to be solid drinks, the lighter stuff is less appealing, and the Glacier tops this ignominious list. Bitter, flavorless and slightly skunky, this pils has little to recommend it, and should be left in the bottle in favor of Tommyknockers’ better brews.
4.0 I normally don't like Pilsners because they either have a skunky or sweet taste. This pilsner has a good amount of hop flavor while still being balanced by the pilsner malt backbone. Hint of apple cider at the end.
2.5 Well, it is what it is. Pilsner isn’t my favorite style, and this one certainly doesn’t rock my world. What a funny little aftertaste!
2.7 Bottle. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy aroma with weak hoppy hints. Fruity malty grainy weak hoppy citrus flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy finish.
3.1 Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a gold hue an an off-white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma is musty with grains and grass that is backed by a bit of crispness. Flavor is grassy up front with a musty grain backing. Nothing special.
2.5 Pours classic lager gold-yellow with above-average head and lacing for the style. Smell a bit earthy with some sweet malt and slight grass; flavor is the same. Not a fan of earthiness, so this isn’t a standout lager to me, but nonetheless has enough character to keep it from being totally forgettable.
2.5 29th September 2010 4.6%. Hazy gold beer, little white head. Light dry palate. Dry malt. Mild fresh orange and then a little grapefruit. Finishes dry and fresh. There is a nice flavour here but the beer is stupidly dry.
2.5 Bootle--the beer just sits there, it’s well made, but just doesn’t do anything for me. Musty malt aroma with a hazy, couldy gold color. Muted aroma with some malt. Soft taste of malt with light to medium carbonation. Produce place. 1.59.
3.4 Bottled. Poured crystal-clear, brighter golden with a creamy, sticky white head.. looked good. The aroma picked up fresh lemon zest, husk, and crisp grassy notes over bready malt and a pinch of honey.. fresh and enjoyable. The flavor opened with tangy lemon and prickly carbonation, with honey and pale malts trailing.. grassy notes joined on the edges.. finished with more of the carbonation and zesty lemon.. not quite as good as the nose, but still solid. Light-bodied with high carbonation on the palate.. crisp and refreshing.. carbonation was a touch too high.. excellent lawnmower beer.
3.3 Orange amber pour. The aroma is floral and grassy hops. Medium bodied, has an underlying malt sweetness, tropical fruit, and a crisp herbal grassy finish. Very well made, just simple.
2.8 Cloudy orange after pour. Bland nose. Fruity taste at first that turns into a bland wheatiness.
2.8 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a lightly cloudy gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma of caramel and grassy hops. Taste is very light bitter. Grassy hops and caramel malt. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and decently long finish. Overall, not bad. I’ll drink this one but wouldn’t seek it out.
2.8 Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a bubbly white ring. Crisp aroma, of yeast, malt, grass. Taste is crisp and refreshing, of yeast, grass, and a hint of malt sweetness. Lingering crisp yeastiness. Refreshing.
3.1 Bottle - called Alpine Glacier Pilsner with 5.1% ABV and 31 IBUs. Murky amber with a short ring of beige foam on the surface. Aroma is floral and grassy hops with malt notes, citrus (lemon) and faint tropical fruit. Taste is grass, citrus fruit, floral hops, light biscuit, sweet malt, and lemon zest. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more lemon and grass with soft biscuit, sweet malt, and light orange.
2.9 Pours a light golden color with a white head that settles quickly. The taste is light with flavors of hops and hints of malts, no stand out flavors. It is crisp and clean on the palate, bubbly with a quick and light finish. It is a good lager.
2.0 Hazy gold in color with a foamy white head that exploded out of the bottle and all over the floor. Very little flavor apart from water. Hints of malt and a bit of skunkiness.
2.6 Bottle. Aroma has notes of cereal and caramel malts, grass and herbs. Deep golden hue with an average foamy white head that mostly diminished and left ok lace. Flavor is medium sweet and bitter. Palate is medium bodied and watery average. Overall a lager for the general public when they visit the brewery. It does look really nice for a lager.
2.7 bottle. Hazy yellow with a small white head. Nose is light malts and effervescent. Taste is crisp malts with a dissipating flavor. Light body. Good summer beer.
1.8 this beer is not good. lots of yeast flavor that is punishing and does not end. yellow color but i have to admit the lacing is nice and long lasting but that’s the best thing about this beer
2.3 Pours a nice hazy orange, with a huge head - quite attractive I might say.Smelled lightly of wheat, oranges, honey and a lil’ yeasty. Tasted of sourdough bread, grapefruit (bitter), and tangerine (sweet). The finish was was hoppy, dry and left me with a refreshed palate. Not too bad, but a little bad for a lager in a sense.
2.8 12oz bottle from Mother Lode sampler. Pale yellow color, big off-white head. Slight floraly hops taste, mixed in that gives this an interesting enough aroma. Lemony. Lightly bitter up front, sour finish.
3.2 Pours a hazy golden color, thin white head. Aroma of citrus, spruce, hay. Sweet with a little bitter in the finish. Light body, lively carbonation, long tingling finish. Smooth and refreshing. Overall a nice session beer.
3.0 12 oz bottle from Joe Canal’s Brick. Pours a mostly clear golden body with an average sized bright white foamy head. Aroma of cereal, dust and orange juice. Medium bodied with slightly strong carbonation and a quick fading after taste. Flavor of white toast, hint of card board, some yellow grapefruit meat. Actually not to bad for a premium lager.
3.3 Pours a slightly hazy yellow-orange color, with a modest fluffy, cream-colored head. The aroma is unexpected and interesting, with a very floral hop profile being contrasted by a bit of biscuity malt. The flavor is more citrusy, with a kind of sweet orange character, but there is also a bit of light caramel and a light fruity sweetness that reminds me of a cheap sparkling white wine (in a good way). I didn’t find the mouthfeel to be "clean and fresh as the rushing water from icy streams" at all, and I actually thought it was a little heavy and resinous, which detracts from the light sweetness of the flavor.
2.6 It poured a yellowish color. The aroma was yeasty. The taste was citrusy and a bitter finish. Just ok.
3.2 Bottle pours gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma shows notes of sweet malt and light florals. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of citrus. Overall body is light to moderate with a lightly bitter finish. Overall it’s extremely well balanced and very drinkable.
