Tommyknocker Imperial Nut Brown Ale

Tommyknocker Imperial Nut Brown Ale

Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

3.7 A clear brown body with a voluptous light brown head that leaves loads of lacing on the glass. Sweet nose with nutty, caramelly and creamy notes. Taste is sweet with some liquorice and a mildly roasty finish and a lingering bitterness. Soft carbonation and moderately ample palate and some warmth. Thos is quite pleasant and drinkable.
2.8 Pours a cloudy, dark chestnut brown color with a half finger beige head that quickly fades into a thin, lasting ring. Minimal spotty lacing. Slightly earthy aroma with grassy hops and a decent balance of roasted and sweet malt notes. Floral hops up front followed by hints of toast, chocolate, caramel and toffee. Medium bodied and surprisingly hop forward for the style. Some dry bitterness complimented by a complex malt bill and maple sweetness. A bit more roast than expected but nit overly dry or acrid with hints of coffee and toast. This is cut by the maple sweetness as well as some subtle spice, caramel, toffee and hazelnut. Decently balanced and the high ABV is well masked, but there’s an odd lingering aftertaste that hurts drinkability. Not bad but I don’t think I would go for this one again.
4.9 This is an excellent beer !! First it's high in alcohol at 9% it's smooth with a rich flavor and no bitter aftertaste !!!
3.1 Bottle from Wegman’s. Cloudy, syrupy knockout of a beer, malty like a barleywine, hits like a sledgehammer for whatever reason. Tastes a little like it’s been around awhile, but could also be this beer’s intended flavor. Enjoyed it more first time I had it, 3-4 years ago, so maybe I did get an old batch.
3.5 From tap. Brown color with beige head. Malty aroma, caramel, bready, light fruity, hazelnuts, licorice. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.4 Draft at the brewpub. Pours murky copper brown with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like sweet nutty malt, boozy, light earth and chocolate. Light/medium and carbonation. Smells like nutty malt, booze, chocolate, and sweet syrup.

3.3 Tap @Tommyknocker. Cloudy dark copper color. Medium size, beige head, stays. Sweet, alcohol, cakey, bready, chocolate in aroma. Chocolate, malty, alcohol, roast, faint oats and sugar in taste. Chocolate cake in aftertaste. Alcoholic mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.
3.0 Tap @ Tommyknocker, Helsinki. Pours a reddish brown with a small, yellowish brown head. Aroma is caramel, some citrus, some earthiness, some nuttiness. Some maple. Taste is quite sweet, following along the same lines. Less hoppiness. Too light in the mouth.
3.4 Tap at Tommyknocker, Helsinki. Colour is brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, caramel, nuts and malts. Pretty nice and soft. Can’t find any signs of alcohol.
3.4 Poured from bottle into glass. Pours a medium brown with a khaki 1 finger head. Aroma - maple, roasted almond. Taste - dark chocolate, maple, light hop bitterness, finish of dark roasted malt (medium coffee like). Better than the non-imperial version in my opinion.
2.9 Tap@Tommyknocker, Helsinki Deep ruby color, small beige head. Malty, nutty, a bit tart aroma. Medium-bodied. Malty, nutty, caramel and also some kind of tart vibe. I don’t like so much. Maybe keg has past its prime.

3.1 Draught at the Tommyknocker, Helsinki, Finland. Dark brown colour with a tiny light tan head. Sweet sugary, nutty and strongly malty aroma. The flavour is nutty, malty and sweet with some hoppy notes. Alcohol is evident.
3.4 Sample@tkcbb. Brown. Woody, brown malty, bready tones. And sweetness, bit molassey. Full bodied, soft smooth body. Chocolate. Malty. A bit flat though, feels bit industrial. Decent tho. -- bb
3.6 Draught @ Tommyknocker. Aroma is sweet but mellow with raisins, nuts, toffee and tipe fruits. Flavour has hayish malt, raisins, nuts, chocolate and ripe fruits. Finishes with lingering hops. Feels a bit harsh with the hay but I like the sweet chocolate tones. This could work even better for me with less hops.
3.8 Draught @ tommyknocker beer bar. Dark brown, thin off white head. Malty, bready, nutty aroma, really pleasant aroma. Flavor has fudge, pleasant sweetness, hops. Nutty notes coming more towards finish. Hides the % really well. Nice balance.

4.3 Great flavor, aroma, aftertaste, appearance, etc.. I love the high alcohol content.
3.6 12 oz. bottle The aroma is chocolate with hints of maple syrup. Pours a very dark brown with a thin off white head. Taste is heavy chocolate malt with notes of maple. Finishes smooth with even more maple flavor.
3.4 Hasselnötter & brownie med ton av marshmallows & nötcreme. Ganska lätt i kroppen & inte alltför lång eftersmak men den blir aldrig vattnig vilket är ett stort plus! Fin öl passar till mycket
3.8 Nice. Dark sugars, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, a bit of coffee, some back sweetness, bourbon notes, alcohol warmth. The abv is evident and the hops are a pleasant additive to a big brown ale. Dark brown with next to no head. Good stuff.
3.8 Bottle @ The Butcher’s Block, Sarasota, FL A nice, nutty, mildly roasted stout-tasting ale, though quite malty and not bitter at all. A hint of dark chocolate and fruits on the palate. Sticky sweet on the finish, but very well balanced. Refreshing.
2.8 "Not very nutty, pretty much the same as the maple nut minus the sweetness and adding in a little alcohol burn. Dark roast, a little fruitiness. A little on the generic side, but not bad..."
4.5 330 ml från systembolaget och beställningssortiment, härligt mörk med beige skum, underbar arom och fin och fyllig smak
