An American-style wheat ale brewed with 30% malted wheat and 2 row barley. Low hopping rates allow the refreshing aroma and citrus flavor of a late addition of lemon grass to dominate. This unfiltered beer retains all of its protein, flavor, and some of its yeast, resulting in a traditionally cloudy appearance. 2000 North American Brewers Asc. Gold Medal

2.5Beer of month club offering. Pours a hazy yellowish color - not all that attractive looking. Faint nose of some lemon, grass and a little wheat. Taste is very simple - not bad, just not much to it. A little lemon - and a touch of malt. Pretty close to a water with some lemon, all in all. Drinkable, just a little boring.
3.0A cloudy golden brown body. A nice white head that faded to a white coating. A nice wheat aroma that had a tartness that mixed well with the tartness of the lemon. Flavor was similar. Although the beer was two dimensional it was refreshing. A smooth finish that had a moderate mouth feel.
2.5"Hefe like in it’s banana spice aroma and flavor. Maybe a little thinner, with a touch more grassy hops and a little cereal. So so. Probably won’t revisit..."
1.9Poured from bottle. Clear golden color, no head. Rotten fruit aroma. Light body with a sweet rotten fruit flavor and a light finish.
1.9Bottle. Trouble calling a wheat. Can’t really place... Tasted like a crappy fruit beer mixed with a dry lager
2.8Pours a hazy yellow with two fingers of head. Aroma is wheat. Somewhat corney. Flavor follows and is sweet. Medium to light bodied. Nice beer
1.1From the first scent to the final aftertaste, this "beer" (?) is foul and off-putting.
A pretty and unique orangey tea color pours into a flat, headless liquid which smells as if it’s gone bad. First sip tastes - indeed - like tea...like lemon tea which has been left out in the sun until something grows in it. The aftertaste is sour and skunky.
Mine had 4.7% alcohol, so I can use the rest of the 6-pack to clean rust off old hinges.
2.3Not a terrible wheat but I’m not impressed by any means. Good pour & bland aroma. Never been a fan of wheats & this doesn’t change that stance!
1.3Bottle.Pours an ugly orange with no head to it. Aroma is solely of orange. The taste is really awful, has lemongrass and some odd sourness to it. Tastes like it went bad, but judging from other opinions, that’s apparently what they were going after. Absolutely can’t recommend. Site says 5.4% alcohol, bottle says 4.7%.
2.7One of the better wheats I've had recently. Not too sweet or fruity. Has some slight hops. I like for once. Had this on draft at tommyknocker brewpub.
1.9Clear orange with no head, no lace. Taste is not quite right - sugary sweet malt opening that has weak carbonation and even weaker bittering...it could pass as day-old Mountain Dew in which the ice has melted. It doesn’t work on any level. Not recommended
3.0Bottled. Hazy golden color. Fruity to the smell. Tones of citrus and wheat. Light body.
3.2I like wheat beers, but this has more of a fruity aroma and taste. Not bad, just unexpected. Not a fan of the cloudiness, almost murky.
3.0Quite sour which makes it pulls slightly to Berliner Weisse. Relatively comfortable experience a hot summer day.
3.0Overall: Thin, sour, but refreshing’
Note: On-tap at Horse & Hound. Reviewed 2013-08-03.
3.3355 ml bottle. Slightly hazy golden with white head. Aroma of bread dough, wheat and some vinous notes. Taste of dough, wheat with some herby finishing notes.
3.4Totally incipit and not much good to talk about. Crafty but with slight hints of wheat no more.
2.8Agreed.
bottle into glass, golden clear pour with white head, nice clean slight fruit malts aroma, tast is light orange, and some marshmellow... nothing special but def not bad
2.7bottle into glass, golden clear pour with white head, nice clean slight fruit malts aroma, tast is light orange, and some marshmellow... nothing special but def not bad
2.5Way too sweet. Lemon and other citrus flavors, themselves artificial tasting. The wheat is barely there.
1.9bottle 4.7%. Poured hazy straw coloured. Light sweet lemon-citrus aroma. Light body with tight carbonation, finishes a bit sour, low bitterness. Grainy wheat flavour with notes of lemon and some yeast. Kinda bland.
2.0Very hazy yellow with a short, off-white head.
Lemon-citrus aroma, light spice.
Wheat, lemongrass, citrus, pepper notes in flavour.
It’s ok....just sort of "there".....nothing awful, nothing memorable.
Dull.
2.812 oz bottle. Gold and hazy with a small white head and patchy lacing. The aroma and flavor is citrus, lemons, grass, herbs and wheat malts. Crisp feel with a light body. Pretty refreshing and really easy to drink.
2.1355ml bottle.
Pours a slightly hazy medium straw, with a white head.
Fruity, quite spicy aroma, citrus, wheat, cloves.
Dry, light bodied, low bitterness, lively CO2.
Spicy, grainy taste, citrus peel, wheat, cloves, finishes quite soapy. (2013-04-22)
2.2Poured hazy yellow with a thin white head. Very little wheat detected on the nose. Super sweet. Tastes like a lemon sweet tart. Pretty foul.
2.6Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Light wheaty base, a hint of sweetness, toffee, and very light citric notes. Not great.
2.3Bottle pours a hazy yellow-orange with a medium white head. Citrusy aroma with a funky lemon scent. Taste is wheaty, lots of lemongrass (almost to the point of being overpowering), and black pepper. Not very enjoyable, a bit of a funky taste.
2.4Tap in CO 1/10/13. Notes of lemon and some orange. Taste presents a hint of wheat. Not a well balanced or great beer.
2.8The head on this was overbearing. I don’t understand how it could be so out of hand being poured into a shaker. Pours a somewhat hazy yellow other than that. Has a distinct aroma of steamed carrots with maybe some other steamed vegetables in there. Medium to heavy sweet taste. Light, fluffy body with a thin texture, soda-like carbonation and a sweet finish. Unlike most wheat beers I’ve had but not necessarily in a good way. It would be a great ice-cold beer for a hot summer day, but it is nothing special.
1.1Of the ones we tried this one was absolutely horrific tasting. The Lemongrass notes are overwhelming to the point of making my wife gag a bit as we choked this down and the beer itself kind of faintly reminded me of drinking crappy lemonade mixed with stale beer. Of the two sampler packs we’ve found most of Tommyknocker’s offerings are at the very least drinkable... This particular one was so awful we avoid getting anything that has any of these in it as noone wants to drink them.
