A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

2.7Tap at Tommyknocker, Helsinki. Colour is brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, some nuts and malts. Very easy.
2.6Pours a dirty mahogany with poor, uneven head that has little retention. Aroma is okay with some nice notes of burnt caramel, malty almost cola notes and a hint of maple nuttiness. Mouthfeel and flavor are pretty poor. Thin and watery with only the bit of sweetness from maple syrup saving the flavor. Not great.
3.0A malty aroma with burnt caramel notes, and a toasty nose. It pours a little hazy, and has the appearance of flat root beer. It starts out sweet, and finishes with a bitter, burnt note. Light body, with a thin texture, slightly fizzy finish.
2.7Just numeral ratings due to social interaction. Yes, there is still some. Even though smart phones exist.
3.0Draft at the brewpub. Pours nut brown with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like nutty malt, sweet maple, syrup, and corn. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like nutty malt, sweet syrup, and maple.
3.1Bottle. Reddish brown with small beige foamy head, malt aroma, low carbonation, slightly sweet caramel taste with nut flavor, thin body, abrupt finish. Quite watery but drinkable.
2.6Pours a dark bronze color. Poured aggressively and still no head. It’s very clear.
Smells great. Nice nutty aroma. I smell some chocolate, I smell coffee. I smell nuts. I smell sweetness. Is it maple, I dunno....I also smell some roasted malt.
Taste is somewhat of a let down. I taste all of the above mentioned stuff, but it’s so watery, so thin, it’s disappointing. It’s sweet. It tastes a little nutty. This is a little under performing however.
Mouthfeel is very watery. Extremely watery. It’s not at all what I expect a brown ale to be. The mouthfeel leaves a lot to be desired. It’s so thin and light, it’s really not even desirable. It’s barely drinkable.
Overall, it’ a huge let down. Think of this as a brown ale light. While the nuts and the malts are tasty, the body of the beer is so thin, it’s makes the beer bad. I would not recommend this.
3.4Draught at the Tommyknocker, Helsinki, Finland.
Reddish brown colour with a tiny off-white head.
Roasted malt, nuts, sweetness, nougat and dryness in the aroma.
The flavour is dry nuts, nougat, chestnut, malt and some sweetness.
2.8Draught at tommyknocker bar. Amber color. Notes of nuts, syrup, caramel. Nothing too special.

3.0Draught. Brown in color, tin whitish head. Nutty notes in aroma, light sweetness too. Sweet syrupy and nutty taste. Pretty mild though.
2.9(Keg at Tommyknocker, Helsinki, 20150523) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had caramel, sweetness, burnt sugar and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, molten sugar, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. A too sweet and still harsh brew.
2.7A small taste on tap @ Tommyknocker Craft Beer Bar. Pours clear deep amber with a low head. Aroma is malts with nutty notes. Pretty similar flavor. A bit disappointing.
3.4Cooper pour, little head retention, Maple on the back end, a little sweet, but very drinkable
2.7Tap @ Tommyknocker Craft Beer Bar, Helsinki. Pours a reddish brown with a decent, brownish head. Aroma is caramel, light roast, light flower, light nuts. Taste is caramel, light flower, some nuts, breadiness. Too light with low carbonation, tad watery.
2.7Poured from bottle. Pours a clear, thin looking, pale brown with a creamy 1 finger head. Aroma is fairly mild, some mild caramel and maple notes. Taste is a touch of weak coffee, milk chocolate, slightly burned extract, and maybe a touch of maple. There is also a slightly off sweet/tang flavor. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Not bad, but not memorable either.
2.6Draught at Tommyknocker. Dark brown color, beige head. Bitter taste with nuts, roasted malts, toffee and bread. Bitter finish with nuts, toffee and roasted malts. Decent brown ale, although utterly uninteresting.
3.0Tap@tkcbb. Brown, light haze. Nutty slight doughy nose. Malty. Lightish bodied, clean clear. Nutty huskey malty, some herbs. Dry finish. A bit bland, soft sweet brown ale.

3.1Brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, little nutty, little sweetness. Taste is roasted malt, nutty, very little maple syrup flavor. OK beer none-the-less.
1.6Nice maple nutty flavor but very watered down in the end. Nice brown color. Wouldn't drink again.
1.4First tastes of banana and sweet malts, caramel, roasty, toffy. Taste bitterness feels like 18-20. Very sweet malty beer
1.9Sickeningly sweet smell with a flavor to match. Smooth but very little carbonation. Very sweet maple syrup taste with a tounge coating feel at the end of each sip.
3.4Not as good as the Imperial version, but still very tasty. The nutty qualities are wonderful.
3.012 oz bottle.
Pours clear red/ brown. Smell is of roasted malts, a bit of maple sweetness, caramel. Taste is nutty, caramel malty,. A bit eatery on the tongue.
2.8Bottle.
A- Malty, real maple syrup, caramel, nutty.
A- Copper color, clear liquid, quickly fading brown head.
T- Malty, subtle maple syrup, caramel, bready.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish.
O- Not too shabby. I could actually smell and sort of taste the maple syrup. I am not a brown ale fan but this one was alright. Could benefit from more of a nutty taste and a tab more maple on the palate otherwise good.
3.0Pours dark brown with dark red hues and a foamy head. Aromas nutty, caramel, toffee. Flavors of light toffee, caramel and just a faint hint of maple (almost unnoticed). Lightly sweet. Light.
3.3Sweet aroma of malted grain, maple, caramel, honey, and light, floral hops. Very delicate, but very pleasant. The pour is sweet-tea brown with a very thin beige head that goes quickly and leaves no lacing. The mouthfeel is on the thin side, with mild carbonation. The taste is honey sweet, with a grainy bitter towards the end and smooth honey lingering. Very pleasant all around, shame the mouthfeel is so weak.
3.9Poured from a bottle into a pint glass purchased in Denver. I like it a lot. At first I thought it was sweet, but I may be associating maple with syrup.
2.5"Really light generic maple/caramel aroma and flavor with some light roast and a slight medicinal aspect. Not too impressed with this one............."
3.5Beer of the month club offering. Pours a clear brown with almost no head whatsoever. Sweet and malty aroma. Really enjoyed the taste - definitely had some sweetness from the maple syrup, and there was a core nutty-taste typical of brown ales. Good, easy to drink beer.
3.112 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, ivory head, with slight lacing, over a clear brown (SRM 20) body......nose is light cocoa, hints of chocolate, no hops, balance to the malts.....taste is slightly sweet, with cocoa, chocolate, slight spice notes, minimal hops, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, light of medium body, no alcohol, low carbonation, with slight acid. Although this beer has no major flaws, it is simple and light. There are many better examples out there. It lacks hop aroma and flavor, since it is slightly sweet, it falls into the "Southern English Brown" category of the present BJCP vernacular. To improve it would require a substantial redo of the malt bill and a reconsideration of hop types and quantities. BJCP 6/3/12/4/6
