Tongerlo Nox / Brune / 6 Bruin

Tongerlo Nox / Brune / 6 Bruin

Bottle: Unfiltered
Bruin. Brune. Brown.

Previously known as Tongerlo Nox.

Tongerlo Brune is an authentic Belgian abbey beer. A brown beer with a sweet aroma that has a full flavour and a lightly roasted aftertaste. The age-old tradition of the White Canons of Tongerlo lives on in this officially recognised Belgian abbey ale. Re-fermented in the bottle Re-fermentation in the bottle gives the beer a more intense taste and aroma as well as a longer shelf life.

NOX, the Latin word for the night, refers to her warm brown dress. This subtle double gives off delicate hints of vanilla, complemented by the sweet bitterness of dark chocolate, fully highlighted. Lovers of beautiful brunettes will instantly recognize its perfect taste shades. As for those enjoying a brown beer for the first time, it will be a revelation.

3.3 Auburn with a foamy, beige head. Aroma of plums, toffee, bananas. Taste is sweet to tart with cherries and plums carrying the finish. Body to the light side of medium, prickly carbonation, watery texture. Not the best Dubbel but still nice.
3.6 Bottle from Beer52. Pours dark chestnut brown with a large frothy beige head. Aroma is bran flakes, caramel, banana, spice, pepper and dark fruits. Light smooth mouthfeel, natural carbonation. Taste is toasted malts, caramel, treacle, dark fruits, banana, candy sugar and finishes dry with a burnt caramel bitterness. Pretty decent.
3.4 Bottle, Beer52. Clearing dark brown, white bubbles. Decent carbonation. Sweetish and spicy, a little malty but really lots of fermentation notes, low bitterness. Quite enjoyable for a change.
3.7 Bottle 330ml; Look:Clear chestnut/dark red. Well carbonated with a large light-tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Aroma: roasted malt, pepper, banana Taste: wheat, banana, spice Body: medium end of thin Overall: a style I have always favoured. Not quite as strongly flavoured as some other examples I have tried but well balanced. A quality beer, of which I could enjoy a few
4.0 Nice brown Belgian abbey beer
0.9 Dodgy coffee
3.4 Dark ruby pour. Strong malt aroma with hints of dank spices. Flavour dominanted by malts with hints of spices.
3.2 Caramel and banana aromas, sweet, malty flavour, reddy brown pour, creamy beige head. Fine, but not really that great.
3.4 Caramel and Belgian esters in the aroma. Pours clean ruby red with a decent head. Perfectly carbonated. Caramel and malty flavours abound. Quite a dry finish. Not the best dubble but still decent.
3.2 330ml bottle via Beer52 sub. Pours dark brown with a ruby hints, frothy beige cap. Aroma: caramel, Belgian yeast, light bubblegum esters. Taste: Light to moderate sweet & bitter, spritzy, caramel, banana and cloves from the yeast, quite estery really. Medium body with frothy carbonation.
4.2 Very nice beer.
3.3 Flanders in a glass.
3.4 [33cl bottle from Beer52's Belgian box.] A deep cherry red pour a billowing off-white head; aroma of caramel and Belgian yeast; quite lively in the mouth with a smooth body, some caramel and banana and cloves from the yeast, an unusual taste for a Bruin ale. Interesting.
3.0 Lockdown April, 2021. 330ml brown bottle, unfiltered, from Beer52 as Tongerlo Bruin. I like malty beers. And I like beers that have a touch of sourness to them. The body is a little watery for the strength (6.5%), and there's not as much going on as one would normally get from a Belgian Bruin. But it is what it is, and I quite like it. [3.0] May, 2003, as Tongerlo Nox. I liked this. Good tasty malt body. Some interesting sour fruit notes at the back. Attractive floating spit. [3.0]
3.3 Deep brown, dense caramel on the nose, tastes a lot lightener than 6.5%, malty with caramel and pleasing bitter fade.
3.2 Pours a dark colour smells of figs vanilla really rich smell Has a slight taste of rich fruit cake a lot going on in the taste something you couldn't drink to manynof
3.6 Dark ruby colour with a big off white head, dark fruit, raisin aroma, medium body, smooth, more dark fruit, plums, light spice some chocolate in the finish a decent double
3.6 Bottle from Beer52. Reddish brown with decent creamy white head. Raisin and dates in the taste with dark chocolate in the finish. Brings bak memories of Belgian trips. Great.
2.9 brune simple sucree et trop sirupeuse. goût de prune, noix. mais trop caramelisee .
2.8 Dark fruity raisins, sweet but bitter tongue in aftertaste. Not fond of the shallow acidity. Feels like a beer trying to be strong ale but not really
4.0 Bottle from Beer 52. Dark fruit and raisins in a modest nose. Pours a deep rich ruby red (almost brown) with a cream coloured head and good lacing. In the mouth it’s the fruitness that catches the attention, plums, dates and over-ripe pears. But there is also malts, chocolate and spices that come through later. Finish is mainly fruity. Excellent beer – one of the best dubbels I’ve had.
3.7 Zeker nog drinken
3.4 Deep brownish color and a nice off-white head. Nose is sweet, caramel, something fruity/jam. Lots of caramel, crisp, creamy, roasted malts. Quite nice.
3.8 Bottle online from Beerhouseshop.be. Pours a very dark brown colour with a thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, chocolate with hints of candy and brown sugar. Taste has more dry dark fruits, plums, chocolate, caramel, toasty bread, roasted malts, spice and just a little sweetness on the finish. Medium body, fairly lively fizz on the palate and a slightly oily mouthfeel. Nicely balanced. Better than average dubbel. Nice beer
3.8 Strong Ale belgium. Doble ligeramente duce. Espuma abundante. Casi negro. Bastante cuerpo. Chocolate. Buena.
3.4 Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical.
2.5 Donker bruin bier met een donkere stevige schuimkraag. Het bier smaakt naar karamel, lichte chocolade, metaal, witte peper en licht gebrande mouten. Heeft op het einde nog een klein droog bittertje.
2.5 Keg (Black Cat, Klaipeda). Black color. Metallic, malty, grassy hops, sourish, Belgian yeast in aroma/taste.
