Toppling Goliath Pompeii IPA

Toppling Goliath Pompeii IPA

Inspiration for our newest Hop Patrol IPA comes from the House of Faun in Pompeii, Italy. At this site, some of the world’s most famous mosaics were preserved under layers of ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

Just as Mount Vesuvius preserved the complex mosaics of Pompeii, this single-hop IPA preserves the luxurious taste of the Mosaic hop.

3.9 Can. Hazy, pale yellow-amber. Bubbly dirty off white head. Potent aroma of melon, mango, citrus, dank, and white bread. Tastes lightly sweet, moderately bitter, with citrus peel. Medium bodied, dry. Nicely done.
3.4 Canned , 5/27/21 orange 🥤, consistency, aroma has a,lot of orange juice and grapefruit with slight pine and herb. Gets a little pithy on the end.
3.0 Mop malt biscuit aroma. Murky yellow colour good head and lacing. Malt orange citrus herbal flavour with biscuit aftertaste. Smooth lingering aftertaste.
3.5 Poured from the tap. Hazy, almost cloudy golden orange with off white head. Muted citrus and melon with a bit of chalk.
4.3 From a 16 oz. can packaged 06/17/21. It looks the part with its milky, hazy, pulpy orange-golden tone underneath a soft ivory head. An array of aromas greet the nose such as tropical fruits, melon, cantaloupe, resin, and a lower profile cereal grain breadiness. Soft medium-full body. The taste is at first sweet and bready but then those tropical fruit characters usurp the sweetness and lead the experience to a mild-moderate fruity bitterness to finish. Many breweries do these Hazy NEIPA's. Toppling Goliath got it right.
4.2 Burnished medium gold pour, some haze, small but steady white head. Nose is dank pine and berries. Middle is pine, mango, blueberry, medium kilned malt, a little citrus snap. Finish is pine and citrus swirling together, not too bitter. Balanced and delicious.
3.5 Supremely hazy pour that’s very light orange/beige. Healthy fluffy white head about a half inch high. Supremely juicy aroma of pineapple, tangerine and grapefruit with sharp astringent herbal hops indicative of a NEIPA, but very expertly carried out. Very soft carbonation, mouthfeel a bit frothy, clean effervescent finish. Flavor follows the nose with rich and juicy complex hops that are expertly balanced. Fantastic NEIPA.
3.9 From a 473ml can on 25/5/202. Pours a hazy medium golden with a medium head. Has a big juicy citrus nose. The flavour is also big on the citrus, both sweet with the orange and savoury with the lemon and grapefruit, with the bitterness very pronounced for the style. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Quite powerful and challenging, with lots going on, but also harmonious and satisfying. Excellent beer.
3.8 On draught at Frontier Brewing and Taproom. Pours a hazy orange yellow with a decent head of foam. Smells tropical, citrus, the usual aromas for the style but of course, it is Mosaic all the way. Tropical fruit, citrus, pineapple, dank like many of the style are. Decent amount of bitterness. Wears on my palate after a while; that's normal for me. Good mouthfeel. Another nice one from these folks.
3.8 Plechovka z americanbeers.vona silna vyrazne citit chmel mosaic. Bleda kalna farba pena rychlo padla. Vyrazna chmelova citrusova chut.
2.8 Bitter and tart with citric and earthy hops. Medium length finish. Medium body.
3.7 1 pint can @ One Pint Pub. Canned on 28/12/20. Pours hazy yellow with a medium head. Aroma is dry juicy malts. Flavor is dry juicy malts with some hops. Strong dry-hop. Good.
3.5 In can, smell is of citrus and hops, a slight floral. Taste is of some tropical fruits, citrus, hops, a little malt, and caramel. Ends hoppy with a little malt back.
3.7 Poured from 16 ounce can bought as part of BOY six pack at Hyde Park Remke, tasted on April 30, 2021. Extremely hazy golden hue, big bittersweet nose with nice tropical fruit notes, solid bittersweet. flavor. Although I'm a hop head, mosaics aren't my favorite, but things hold together pretty well here. A fine beer that is well worth trying.
3.8 1 pint can. Pours a cloudy amber with moderate head. Aromas of stoned fruit, guava, pithy citrus and wheaty malts. Flavors follow same with additional sharp pine and grapefruit
4.0 Hazy golden body with a medium sized, persistent, foamy white head. Aroma is mango, pineapple, mild piney notes. Taste is fruity, mango and stone fruits again, with a nice resinous counterpart. Bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body soft carbonation smooth texture
3.4 16 oz can. Should have checked the date, packaged 5/1/20, almost a year ago. Smells of malts and lime zest. Dark yellow and hazy with sediment. Hops a little muted, as to be expected from an older can. A bit juicy, getting grapefruit and other citrus flavors with a slight toffee taste in the background. Finish has mild bitterness with citrus flavors. Pretty good, will adjust rating later if I drink a fresher can.
3.5 Can from The Gull, North Vancouver, 01/14/21, 2 months old; no ABV on the can Murky blond colour. The aroma is moderately dank, there is also some citrus zest. Dry mouthfeel, on the weak side for an IPA, and a bit too chalky; the combination of chalk and lack of sugars highlights certain pithy bitterness elements, overpowering the hop qualities; definitively a beer that would need some cleanup and sweetness. Good, but dirty.
3.6 Can. Cloudy and sort of a dull orangey colour. The aroma is sort of melony, maybe that white grapefruit thing. On the palate, the malts are relatively clear for this style, the hops taking on that very pale fruit note, a bit of juicy tartness in there. That said, this is way better than any beer I had at Pompeii. Not a hotspot of Italian craft beer.
3.9 Hazy gold pour. The aroma is of tropical fruit and hop resin. The flavor has fairly high bitterness with resin, tropical fruit and bready and caramel malt.
3.5 16oz (thx for bringing, Alex) @ home shared with Alex. Appearance: murky golden with a white head. Aroma: dank and fruity, juicy, Taste: along the same lines, on the dry side, very bitter finish. Overall: it's ok, but for this price (almost C$10+ in most of the locations)? No, thanks.
4.2 Pretty good hazy.Good citrus/pineapple/papaya.Some bitterness adds a twist
3.4 473.18 cl (or 16 american democracy units) can at home, bought at Slijterij Groningen. Appearance: hazy golden straw with medium sized frothy white head. Aroma: citrus, mango, pineapple, yeasty, slightly grassy. Taste: medium sweetness and rather high bitterness. Notes of citrus, yeast, pineapple on sirup, hop resin. Bland. Palate: medium bodied, watery texture and lively carbonation. Dry bitter finish. Overall: maybe very good at the time of release, but to me this one is not that extremely good. Aroma is okay, but the taste is just a bit bland and boring. Not worth its price.
1.5 Had this on tap at mad mex in robinson, nice pale eye and nice happy hour dude. Big hazy pour. 1 Inch head. Heavy hop aroma. Near BO nose. Taste is bitter an difficult. Long nasty bitter finish. Good c02 from start to finish, odd for an IPA. Almost makes it confidingly acceptable.
3.9 Murky yellow color with medium white head. Aroma: pineapple, papaya, pine. Taste: strong presence of mosaic hops with mango, resin, earthy notes, bitterness lingers towards finish. Medium body, moderate to high carbonation, moderate to high bitterness. Clean, refreshing, full of Mosaic, tasty.
4.1 Shaker pint draft at Talk of the Town in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is a hazed yellow golden with a foamy white head that leaves behind big lace. The aroma is bright tropical tangerine pineapple, with softly bitter and bright tartness towards the back. The taste is a clean bright tropical tangerine and pineapple right away, with a perfect amount of bitterness and mineral that leads to a silky smooth finish. The palate is medium to light bodied with an unfiltered mouth feel and the tropical fruit with bitter finish. Really nice.
3.6 16 oz can pours an orange color with a nice white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, resin. Light bodied, great mouthfeel. A very good beer.
4.0 Can from 100 pív Excellent hoppy citruses on a nose. Tastes hoppy, medium bitterness, fresh citruses. Good one.
3.8 Hazy yellow colour big white head, aroma is full of citruses, taste is medium bitter, medium sweet, lot of citruses, smooth and balanced.
3.3 Can. Mútna žltá farba, biela bublinková pena. Vôňa tropického ovocia, výrazne šťavnatá, mango, ananás, citrusové plody, extrémne chmeľová. Chuť trpká, ovocná, kandované ovocie, sušené mango, nasládlosť vločiek. Alkohol a výrazná horkosť v dochuti.
