Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue

Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue

This single hop pale ale showcases the Citra hop for a well balanced beer that is delicate in body with a mild bitterness in the finish. She roars with ferocious aromas of grapefruit, citrus, mango and evergreen. pseudoSue’s unique and addictive taste is clean and bright with just enough bite!

Admin Note: Previously brewed as a 5.8% ABV offering, current and future batches are listed at 7% ABV per a tweak and translating the beer to a larger 30 bbl system. Tweaks may continue to change this ABV slightly as they settle on an official end product.

3.9 I poured it from the can into a shaker. It pours a hazy orange with a white head and lacing. The aroma is grapefruit, mango, and pine hops. The taste is grapefruit, mango, pineapple, hops, and bread. It's pretty smooth. There's a hint of prickly carbonation. There's a tartness and a nice bitterness. It's good.
3.9 can. Cloudy light orange yellow color. Light white head. Fresh hoppy aroma. Fruity nose. Fresh fruit flavor, hoppy. Fresh. Bright.
4.0 Hazy golden with a white head - Fruity hop aroma - Malt body with a fruity hop flavour with hints of bitterness - The furity hops goes into the finish - This was good
3.9 I've got a 16 oz can of Pseudo Sue purchased at a local craft beer store a couple of weeks ago. NE style not one of my favorites but I can appreciate nonetheless. My snifter from a TX brewery is arrayed for the pour, a curious lemon-orange color with a wispy head of pure white foam. The nose is nice, tropical, hoppy and clean. I take a drink, well, this is getting better. Juice, pine cones, grapefruit, crackers, a slight dankness and pineapple. Better than expected.
3.8 (Can) Pale amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy tan head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of mango, orange marmalade, apricots, dried pineapple and resin. Fruity, hoppy taste with mango, grapefruit, pineapple, orange marmalade, apricots, pine needles, caramel and a generous citric, piney bitterness. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and quite bitter with a rich hop presence, possibly a bit sharp and edgy. Very nice.
5.0 Love it, both Paul and I did
3.9 Can 473ml @ Sommerhuset Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus, grape and pine. Taste is medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter with a long piney, grapefruit and citrus finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
4.2 What stands out for me is the clarity of style and balance - clean, crisp, not overly bitter, lots of nuance without getting cluttered. Superior beer.
4.4 Draught - this is the real deal for the style. Murky pineapple juice appearance with a frothy white head. Nose is tropics, pineapple, melon and a dash of dank. Love the creamy feel with a slight peppery bite in the back. Good beer.
3.8 Toppling Goliath x Field Museum Pseudo Sue Hazy APA 6% I didn’t know this was a collaboration with the Field Museum and it’s named after the famous T-Rex skeleton Sue! Lovely milky gold color with a soapy white foam that doesn’t linger. Nice zesty citrus juicy hop bouquet though a tad sharp. Sharp dry carbonation and a light body that to me doesn’t match the style. Overall, a really nice drop at a reasonable price in Japan.
4.5 Can from Total Wine in San Jose near Cupertino (crazy huh?!). Rich nose pounding citra hop aroma. Wow. Really spectacular. Especially given Total Wines reputation of shelf aged IPAs, but this is fresh. Probably won’t last long. Pours a murky hazy golden color. I expect after a month, this will settle to a sludge, but today it is fresh and well integrated yeast haze. Body is medium to high oatmeal goodness. Lots of mango and pineapple flavors. Easy to drink. Fantastic and well deserving of its high ratings.
3.9 Poured from the tap. Cloudy golden orange with white head. Citrusy grapefruit hops with feint pine. Quite nice.
4.0 From a can dated 06/07/21. It looks like a NEIPA with its cloudy, milky looking yellow pour and tremendous, white foamy head. The aroma is more hop forward than malt forward. Th malts are bready but the hops are tropical and herbal. Kind of ashy. The body is around medium. The taste begins sweet and bready but then those tropical and herbal hops roar in to give it an added bite. This is really more like a newer IPA than a pale ale. But I can see why so many people like it. Just came to N.H. in June 2021.
4.2 Murky dirty yellow, veneer of a white head. Nose is tantalizing tropical. Middle is mango, pineapple, passionfruit, medium kilned malt, sweet citrus. Finish is all the above wrapped together.
3.8 Sixteen ounce can from mixed six pack purchased at Hyde Park Remke, tasted on June 4, 2021. Exceptionally hazy orange/yellow hue, big bittersweet nose with lots of citrus and other fruit, big bittersweet taste with some complexity. Some astringency keeps this brew from getting a higher score. Still, it's a really solid beer.
5.0 In a world now flush with high abv ipa’s this OG of pale ales will always be my benchmark. No sub 6% ipa can touch this perfection. Way back when Sierra Nevada set the bar and we were driving 12 hours for Fat Tire this awesome creature rose from my great home state of Iowa... and thank god now I can get it in Jersey! It’s easy to put $5 worth of hops in a can and get a crazy thick taste. But this simple citra brew defines elegance without all the brute force (even if it is a T Rex)
4.2 Wow, this is so good! I think I might like it even more than King Sue. It’s so juicy and citrusy. Well balanced and delicious. Yum!
3.5 16 oz can. Smells strongly of citrus, almost got a whiff of mosaic characteristics. Straw yellow with milky haze. Not as juicy as expected, getting citrus notes at the front followed by bitter grapefruit pith. Finish is mildly bitter. Gets juicier the more you drink. Decent.
3.6 Great flavour but also fairly bitter. Marie is not a fan. Very piney.
3.7 1 pint can. Pours a hazy amber with a few floaters and moderate foamy head. Aromas of grapefuit, mango, hint of pine and soft bready malts. Flavors follow same with a piney finish
3.7 tropical and bitter, sudsy with a bit of softness and fullness in dairy. strong grapefruit hop character a little oily and a finish of decent funk. Some juice and ivy.
3.5 Can from The Gull, North Vancouver, 01/20/21, 2 months old Cloudy to murky blond colour. Fruity hops, accent on citrus fruits, peel-y, bitter grapefruit; dry mouthfeel, but with good body strength; it's also a bit chalky, and definitively astringent in the finish. Has potential to be much better on tap at the source.
3.9 1 Pint can. Pours hazy yellow with a big fluffy head. Piney herbal hoppy notes, loads of citrus notes (tangerine, orange zest, grapefruit), a bit of skunk, hints of mango, papaya and pineapple. Crisp hoppy bitterness, light fruity sweetness. Full bodied, oily texture, soft to lively carbonated, dry hoppy bitter finish. Nice juicy and crisp Pale Ale!
4.0 Cloudy golden color with a white head. Intense floral and tropical/citrus fruit aroma. Smooth mouthfeel with a bitter finish, but not overly so. Sort of crosses the bridge between hazy IPA and pale ale, but captures the better part of both styles.
3.9 16oz on Alex's deck. Appearance: murky golden with a white head. Aroma: nice tropical fruits, citrusy, fresh, crispy. Taste: along the same lines, quite dry, a bit dusty, noticeable bitterness. Overall: good one.
4.0 Can, 0.473l. Aroma of citrus, ripe mango, passion fruit, herbs and biscuit. Pours murky dirty yellow color with medium sized soapy off-white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts juicy tropical fruity, citrusy and resinous, following is bready, herbal and faint medicinal, while mouthfeel is smooth and mild spicy with dry and bitter finish. Medium body, creamy texture and carbonation in palate. Juicy Sue...
3.7 Hazy gold pour. Aroma is of citrusy hops and bready malt. Flavor is of crisp hops that are well balanced with the malty sweetness. Citrus and pine. Medium bodied. Very good.
4.0 # 2432; 3/2021. Fruity, citrus, resinous aroma. Hazy yellow body, white head. High hop flavor, citrus, resinous, tropical fruits, very drinkable. Clean, bitter finish. 0,5 l, can, beershop, Prague.
4.0 Can poured into a shaker glass. Cloudy gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma is orange, lemon, mango, pine, dank. Initial taste is mimosa, pine. Fades to light pine and resin. Carbonation is vibrant but a little fizzy. Body is a smooth medium. Lives up to her big sister. 10/4/8/3/15
3.8 Can. A bit on the murky side. Not much head. Fresh citrusy hop nose with a hint of tropical fruit. Melon, grapefruit, orange on the palate. Medium bitterness, which I appreciate. The malts are ok. So bright hops and ok malts but that hop character is pretty good.
