Toppling Goliath ZeeLander

Toppling Goliath ZeeLander

Ipa with New Zealand Nelson hops.

This zeelicious single hop IPA showcases the rare Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand. Delightfully confusing aromas of citrus and mandarin oranges give way to an incredibly complex body of earth tones and marigolds. This is truly like any hop you’ve ever tasted.

3.8 Can, Cask & Barrel. Nice big fruity aroma, pineapple and papaya and stuff. Expressive and appetizing. Not vague like so many hazies seem to do these days. Similar palate. Not quite as expressive, but okay malt base and quality pineapple taste.
3.6 Can @ Højbjerg tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is hazy golden. Aroma and taste are rich fruits, hops, flowers and malt. Nice bitter finish.
3.5 Frothy white fair mostly diminishing head. Yellow colour. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.
3.8 Can @Saxo. Hazy yellow, white head. Fruity aroma, tropical fruit, green grapes, mild herbal notes. Hoppy, bitter flavour, unripe tropical fruit, fruit peel. Lasting bitter finish.
3.8 Can @ Saxo tasting. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity and rather hoppy - citrus and fruity. Flavor is medium sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 200321
3.7 Can. A hazy orange golden beer with a off white head. Aroma of orange fruits, grapefruit, pine. Taste of orange fruits, grapefruit, pine, tangerine, some citrus.
3.3 1 pint can. Pours a cloudy yellow amber with chunky bits and full head. Aromas of melons, sweetened grapefruit, passionfruit and doughy malts. Sharper flavors of same with additional pine and pithy citrus. Not getting the high ratings on this one. Sharper stronger flavors than the average copycat Hazy, but not outstanding and awful looking
4.2 Pint can. White grape aroma with notes of mandarin orange, grapefruit, earthy and floral hops. Pours hazy golden colored with a large off white head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with white grape, mandarin orange and earthy hop flavors. Finishes dry, but mostly still smooth with grapefruit citrus and floral hop flavors. Really nice IPA that distinguishes the Nelson Sauvin hop nicely.
3.4 16oz (thx for bringing, Alex!) @ home shared with Alex. Appearance: murky straw with a white head. Aroma: weird like an aggressive cat pees, car exhausts, fruity. Taste: very fruity, somewhat sour and flowery. Overall: ok.
3.6 Well-made, and a good showcase for Nelsons; full of white grape sweetness, grapefruit zest, pith, white pepper, and minerals. Peters out on the finish, though, growing dry and somewhat bland, with only pepper and mineral in the fade. Solid IPA, but I’m more a fan of its construction than its taste.
3.9 1/2/21, tallboy can from Kenny Road Market: hazy yellow-orange, large white head, spotty lacing. aroma of fresh lemon. tastes are tart citrus, herbal, pine, lemon, earthy, grassy, just a little sweet. soft juicy palate. good. 7.8
3.3 Can pours very hazy with great head. Nelson hops, grapes, white wine, pineapple and fresh orange aroma. Dry, grapefruit, that chalky malt body I associate with neipas. Hops last a while, but so does that creamy chalky malt body I'm not fond of. Alpine Nelson is so much better if you want a Nelson showcase.
4.1 16 oz can from Half Time, 2/15/21. Packaged 2/18/20 and best by 4/18/21, so I'm well within that window here. The beer pours a nice golden-orange color with a white head some fairly strong steaks of foamy lace. Orange, lime, pineapple, and lychee all come through. A bit of white grape. Finishes on the peppery side.
3.9 16 ounce can. Cloudy yellow gold color. Small creamy white head. Bright citrus aroma. Notes of orange and lemon. Flavor is bold citrus. Notes of grapefruit, lime, pineapple and pine needles. Dry peppery finish. Excellent.
4.0 Hazy gold pour, white head. Aroma of white and concord grapes, citrus. Taste, follows, with pineapple, some lemon and grass. Delicious.
3.5 Can, well within freshness limit. Fairly dry IPA. A dash of pineapple and lemon over a bready ale flavor. Good.
3.5 Pint can from Woodmans Appleton, 2/5/2021. Very hazy yellow, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of pepper, dank, dry citrus. Taste is pepper, pineapple, citrus, lime, hay, pale malt. Medium bodied, medium bitterness, juicy. Solid.
3.6 16 oz can, canned 12/18/20. Pours very hazy orange gold with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass. The aroma is big stinky resiny hops. The flavor is wheat malt with big resiny piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation. Overall, a nice IPA.
3.9 TaveCan pours hazy yellow gold with a large lacy white head. Aroma is pine, apple of the pine, dank. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium-plus bitter. Well balanced, NZ notes of pineapple and dank pine resin, a little grapefruit peel. Medium body with a creamy palate. Very nice, feels a little old school.
4.0 Hazy golden colour with a white head. Citrus melon aroma. Citrus orange melon pineapple flavour. Medium body.
3.8 Can. It poured a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma was of hops, citrus and florals. The taste was similar to the aroma with more hops, citrus, florals, pine, tropical fruits with medium carbonation and a nice bitter sweet aftertaste. Nice.
3.9 Pours a hazy golden yellow with a foamy white head. Moderate floral aroma with notes of grain and citrus. Smooth and juicy citrus rind taste with a light bitterness. Finishes with a lingering juicy herbal aftertaste. Refreshing and enjoyable.
4.0 Cloudy deep golden with a foamy white head. Bright white grapey slightly dank tropical aroma with some light pale malt and wheat. Smooth full flavor that’s pale malty with medium-strong bitterness, lots of weedy dankness and a little white grape tropical kiss. Very complex and rich.
3.8 Can. Poured cloudy light golden color with an average frothy white head that lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy tropical citrus aroma. Medium to abundant body with a dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. This is a solid beer.
3.6 Pour is hazy IPA with a large white head. Aroma is white grapes and green onion. Flavor is more white grape with some melon and citrus. Finish is gone quickly with no bitterness. This was a pretty good down under IPA..
4.2 Bomber from Tavour. Pours hazy gold with a smallish white head. It is dank. Garlic strikes my nose. Probably not garlic, but that's the impression. Med body at least. Flavor is dank and garlic juicy. Earthy. Mixed tropicals. Light malt support. Dryish. Bitter. Dankish. No wonder this is rated at 99.
4.5 22oz bottle from Windsor Hy-Vee, in a Sam Smith pint glass. Aromas of pineapple and passion fruit, with some apricot, pear, pine, savory herbs and a hint of buttered biscuits. Pours a dense, hazy crayon box golden apricot color with two fingers of pillowy off-white head that leaves some nice traces on the glass. Mild and satisfying flavor that's nearly mirror opposite to the nose experience: Bready malt with herb and spice a bit like cilantro on the entry, with peach and passion fruit on the mid-palate and a moderately long, mildly piney finish. Light- to medium-bodied with great carbonation. Mildly hoppy astringent on the finish. Very well balanced and very easy to drink. TGB really seems to have a knack for that, the last three bomber IPAs I've picked up from them have all been absolutely steller. Well done fellas! Cheers!
4.1 Draught @ Meadhall, Cambridge, MA. Smooth, juicy and tropical fruity with some grapes, grass, herbal notes and hints of dankness. Quite nice.
3.7 Tap at Meadhall, Boston. Color is very cloudy golden with medium white head. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, tropical fruits, some herbal elements, hops and malts. Ok.
