3.3A deep golden amber color. Taste is strongly hopped as per the name. There is a nice Caramel back bone to balance out this dipa. A great offering all though not the best dipa I’ve had.
4.2Lcbo. Ambré. Nez: malté. Caramel. Houblon. Gâteau. Fruit confit. Bouche: belle amertume. Sucré mais pas trop. Fruité. Pomme caramel. Florale. Cerise. Résineuse. Ananas. Sèche en finale. J'aime.
3.7650 ml. (8.5% abv). Pours a honey brown, copper colour with a small one-finger head that dissipates gradually. Aroma is fresh hops, grass, berries, and mild alcohol. Taste is hops, hops, and more hops! Little hints of grass, straw, pine, grapefruit, yeast, toffee, warm mild alcohol, and light cheddar cheese. Caramel and biscuit malt backbone becomes more evident as it gets warmer. Has a very hoppy bitter and pine aftertaste. Warm and lively mouthfeel, low carbonation, and dry notes on the palate. Oily texture. An overall nice brew.
3.6341mL Bottle 8%, from the Tree Hop Pack. Pours a darker amber, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is citrusy, grapefruit hops predominant. Taste is extremely hoppy, tempered with a pleasant citrusy sweetness that disguises the higher abv quite well. Very nice.
4.0This pour brings me to my knees: sunburst amber with a fluffy two finger cap that fades to hills & valleys. Drinks like a good red wine: swills well as you grill the Lake Erie bass & pairs nicely with food at the dinner table as you try to fool the wife into thinking you didn’t drink as much as you did. Yes it has all the other things the ratebeer crowd mentions but sometimes our reviews need to go beyond tasting notes & remind us that beer is more than spreadsheet data: it’s life itself. But anyways.
3.5Bomber from the LCBO. Dark amber with a bubbly off white head. Some resiny hops but light and airy, nice malty backbone, mild citrus, fresh. Moderate body but light, moderate+ carbonation, balanced bitterness, some alcohol, malty and more resin. Interesting.
3.4Bottle (650 ml). Thanks Andrew! Unclear dark amber with a huge creamy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is of malt, vegetal notes, some sweetness, pine and citrus. Taste is moderately sweet with malt, caramel, citrus pine, vegetal notes, soap and slight to moderate bitter finish. Medium body. Dry. Ok DIPA. Not too heavy but a tad too sweet.
3.4On tap at alibi. Had many farty nights drinking bombers of this a couple years back. Easy drinking, low resin impy.
3.9Cloudy light amber appearance. Aroma is quite hoppy - citrus and pine with a hint of caramel as well. Carbonation is light but perfect for this style in my opinion the mouthfeel is also bang on with the right amount of oily-ness. Taste is quite hoppy a lot of pine and kind of skunky as well. The bitter and citrus flavours take over towards the end. The malts are quite balanced and suit the hops well they didn’t go overboard on the caramel like some IPA/DIPAs.
IIPA.
4.3It tastes like treacle, figs and currants. And pineapples, grapefruit. It;s also got a weird eucalyptus taste.
Surprisingly sweet (but not cloying or syrupy).
Very close to barleywine
3.2Bottle - Citrus and pine and some biscuit. Clear orange with a thick head. Piney with a significant hit of bitterness and a bit of alcohol. Very dry finish with the bitterness lingering. I remember this being much better when I first had it, I may have a bad batch.
3.4650 ml bottle purchased at the LCBO on Rideau and King Edward (Ottawa) on March 1, 2013. Dark orange, medium head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops, a little sweet. Taste of herbs and pine hops, dry alcohol, not very bitter. A little better than their IPA, just a little!
3.7Bottle from the LCBO, this beer pours a cloudy golden colour with a thick frothy head. The aroma is of thick citrus and malty notes, the taste is delicious with a citrus and pine hop notes. Behind all that hoppy goodness, is a malty backbone that offers some delicious thick caramel malts. This is a great double IPA, and I will definitely try again!
3.8Une bouteille de 660ml. Version à 8,5% bouteille peinte inscrite Limited Edition.
4.2Nice sticky bitterness to the palate. Aroma of alcohol and pine. Molasses butter and tylenol to the taste.Very bitter, balanced by sweetness, but the dull sweetness that’s only a backnote which i very much prefer. I enjoyed this bottle much more this year than last. And for the price, I’m considering stocking up!
3.7Slightly muted aroma, oniony/catty hop sweet smelling aroma. Dark brown, hazy, white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Flavor shows a lot of hop character, piney and tropical, with a malty middle and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Pine aftertaste. Not that assertive in terms of bitterness compared to other DIPAs. Medium bodied, medium carbonated. OK.
4.2Tree Brewing's regular Hop Head is very tasty, so there's surprised that this is twice as tasty! Strong hoppy bitterness that unfolds with settle citrus undertones.
2.71 finger head mostly dark red and cant see into it but on side can see little crabination. 8.5% strong pinny hop smell and on taste mostly the pinny grassy hops with a earthy bitterness but backround is a little of the fruity/citrus hops. veary pinny and bitter eathyniss and heavy bodied.
4.3Amber with orange tinges. Aromas of pine, hops, some fruit. Bitter, but well balanced. I liked the full body and lingering finish. Great beer.
4.6Pours an amber colour with a slight orange tinge. Big white head that dissipates but leaves a healthy ring and lace covering the entire glass. Aroma is mostly pine, some grassiness, some citrus, and some sweet malts. Flavours are pine, grapefruit, grassy, earthy, dry finish. So well balanced the 8.2 abv is hardly noticeable.
4.0On tap at O’Hares in Steveston. Golden reddish amber color. Hops on the nose. Big hops with solid malt backing on the tongue. Long, bitter aftertaste. Yum!
4.6Pours a clear orangish amber with a nice off white hat that leaves sticky lace. Aroma is a nice burst of grassy & piney notes with some sweet malts. Taste is a lot of pine & grass with some resin, biscuit and grapefruit. Extremely well balanced for an 8% dipa.
3.6On cask at Toronto’s cask days festival. Pour looks great with amber colouring and slight head. Aroma is strong and hoppy with citrus and pine notes. Taste was mild strong with good bitterness.
4.2An excellent IPA. If you like Tree?s standard, you?ll love this double!600ml bottle. Beautiful amber pour with thick off-white foamy head. The aroma hits you in the face like a trip through the pine forests of Canada! Very hoppy with loads of other complexities... citrus peel, resin, and perfectly bitter and balanced. I love this beer!
4.0Great combination of the citrus and pine with the strong caramel malt make this an excellent example of a NW DIPA. I often find the style too strong for me, just like the spiciest of chili sauces, so it was nice that this didn’t go too far. Extreme flavour here.
3.5Bomber poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit with a crisp dry bitter lingering earthy finish.
4.0650 mL bottle. Pours a deep amber with a thick off white head, lots of lacing here. Pine, honey, lavender, citrus and soap on the nose. Big and sweet followed by a bracing quantity of hops, big bitter finish. Waxy on the palate, lots of carbonation. Enjoyable on its own, probably better with some spicy south east asian food.
