Tree House Alter Ego

Tree House Alter Ego

What we did here is we took a whole bunch of Mosaic and Amarillo hops, a classic punch of citrus purveying goodness, and added them to the Julius dry hop. The base beer is exactly the same, but the dry hop is altered tremendously. The result is a beer with all the deliciousness of the base with a pungent additional layer of citrusy complexity. Soft velvety hop juice - we call it Devil Julius. A real treat!

3.4 At a tasting, medium bubbly head, very cloudy orange color, aroma of citrus and flowers, feels like orange juice, flavor of citrus, shrubs and a hint of onion, sweetish hint that becomes quite stronger. Nice, just a touch heavy.
4.1 Tropical mango and bitter orange rind in the aroma and flavor. Nice mix of juicy tropical hops with a slight bitter balance of citrus rind like hops. Very hazy, full bodied beer but still easy drinking. May even tend a bit towards the bitter side in the finish. Has a bit of a west coast ipa flavor with the very hazy juicy NEIPA. EDIT: having again when it is settled more. Still get citrus rind bitter, but it is very balanced with the sweeter juicy tropical citrus flavors. Some very nice stone fruit hop flavors as it warms as well. Really good.
3.7 Can pour into nonic pint glass from the brewery. Appearance is opaque, dark orange/light brown with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, 2-finger width foamy off-white head with decent retention and mild soapy lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit, milder grapefruit and citrus. Taste is tangy orange citrus, milder tropical fruit, very slight grapefruit and herb, late bitter. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, average-to-lively carbonation, mild numbing of the lips and mostly sweet finish but lingering mild bitterness. Overall, certainly the look of a NEIPA but the palate is too thin and a bit too carbonated. Aroma and taste of decent strength but not super complex and doesn't work as well as some of their others.
4.6 Hazy our with white head. Great aroma with lots of juicy notes. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Fruitnotes pufront with a slight lingering bitterness. Fantastic.
Mycket gott!
4.8 FN DELICIOUS
3.9 440ml can from a trade. Canned 11/06/18. Smooth, juicy fruity and hoppy with some pine, citrus and tropical notes. Quite juicy and not that bitter, but pretty balanced still.
3.9 Can (16oz). Cloudy yellow with white head. Strong tropical aroma. Taste is tropical fruits like orange and pineapple. Finish dry with a little pineapple bitterness.
4.1 Milky yellow orange pour with a white head and sticky lacing. Strong peach, pineapple, and citrus zest aroma is apparent as soon as the can is popped. Taste is citrus zest, mango, tropical, and lightly dank. Fruity after taste. Finishes fairly dry. Medium mouthfeel.
3.9 473 ml can at Sanders place, canned 1.8.2018, shared by Sander, many thanks! Pours a murky light orange with a white head. The aroma is hoppy and fruity with mango, sweet orange, grapefruit, tangerine, spicy, peppery, floral and some biscuity and bready malt in the back. Medium body with a soft carbonation, a light sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is medium hoppy and similar to the smell - orange, grapefruit, quiet some green dankness with spicy and grassy hops. Becomes better upon warming. 4.1 Canette 473ml, gracieuseté de msjpearson, Thanks Mike! Couleur orangée opaque, mousse beige laissant une belle dentelle. Arôme de houblon résineux, pointe d'alcool, malt, cantaloup, papaye. Goût de houblon résineux, un peu vert, écorce de citron, amertume moyenne-élevée, melon miel, malt. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen-dense.
4.0 Can (one off) from De Bierkoning. About 2.5 weeks old. Murky deep golden color. White-ish head, more that usual with a NEIPA, but retention is not too long. Aroma's: dank hops, tropical fruit, resin. Retronasal it's dank (gets more dank and juicy with every sip), weed, resinous, a bit citrussy, onoin. Flavor is light moderate bitter with light fruity sourness and lots of hops. Medium bodied. Mild hopburn. Moderate bitter finish.
4.0 1 pint can, canned Aug 1st 2018. Shared by Sander, many thanks! Amber, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, yellowish head. Aroma of green hops, citrus, wet grass, dankness, fruit juice, slight peppery notes. Tastes pretty similar, also very green. Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes dry, moderate bitter, citric, zesty, a bit piney, grassy, a bit yeasty. Tasty. Tastes very "green" throughout, the juicy fruits are more in the background. Drinks crisp and fresh, with just enough malt body. Maybe not as outstanding as expected, but still a really lovely, characterful IPA. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16
4.0 0,473l can at Sanders shared by Sander, big thanks. Canned 08/01/2018. dark yellow murky color, small white head. smells of ripe fruits, mango, passion fruit, some pines, earthy. very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, citric, grassy, pines, peppery, spices, light mango, some grapefruit. finishes lightly dry and medium bitter with notes of mango, grapefruit and some pines. very nice one, lovely balance.
4.2 Pours a dark orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of bright citrus and tropical hops. Taste is smooth and sweet. Well balanced. Not cloying. Hop flavor adds notes of mango and slightly peppery bite in the finish. Very good.
4.3 Pours hazy deep gold into a shaker. White head with medium retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Mango and papaya aromas. Soft with pineapple and mango upfront turning to mild tangerine in the lasting finish.
3.8 16oz. can: This one pours an opaque golden color. There is a wisp of a white head that leaves some lacing. A big fruity nose. Orange and faint pine. The taste is very good. Somewhat juicy and a touch bitter.. Orange and pine dominate. Another keeper!
4.2 Pours hazy orange, off white head. Aroma is dank citrus, apricot, dough, grass. Flavor is apricot, resinous hop, melon, creamy juice.
3.6 Another nice Tree House beer. Description says Julius plus dry hop Mosaic so it should be better but I think I still prefer Julius
3.4 Can [from trade thanks!!] shared @ Mancave Caesar tasting. Murky quite ugly pale yellow color, medium sized white head. Aroma is sweet tropical fruit juice. Flavor is slightly malts, nicely superbly fruity, nicely hoppy, but imo it lacks bitterness. Decent, but expected better.
4.3 W aromacie ogromna ilość tropików. W smaku bomba soczystych cytrusów, mandarynka i grejpfrut, troszkę zielonej cebulki. Odczucie w ustach świetne, ciało łączące się z fajnym wysyceniem daje mega kremowe odczucie. Pierwsza ipa ze Stanów, nie zawiodłem się
4.0 Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with a slight/medium beige head. Medium aroma; taste starts medium/heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Orange, tropical fruit, hops and citrus. 7/5/8/4
4.0 Can. Pours orange and hazy with a big white head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Lovely tropical fruit notes on the nose and tongue. Finished clean. Super crushable.
3.6 Aromat średnio-intensywny, nie ma tego uderzenia chmielu jak przy innych puszkach Tree House. Dominują słodkie, białe owoce tropikalne, dalej zielona cebulka i nuty nafty. Piwo orzeźwiające, z niską owocową słodyczą, i wysoką grejpfrutową goryczką. Krótką, ale ostrą i lekko gryzącą gardło.
4.0 Barwa pomarańczowa, mętna, piana nie za duża. Aromat zielonej cebulki, nafty, cytrusów. W smaku wytrawne cytrusy, trochę cebulki, lekka nafta. Goryczka cytrusowo żywiczna.
3.6 Aroma: green onion, petrol oil tropical fruits, citrus. Taste: medium bitterness. Head isn't impressive. Carbonation at average level.
3.5 can @Caesar's Mancave tasting, shared with Caesar, Benzai and Skortilla. hazy yellow/golden with a white head. aroma of a hughe amount of mango, pineapple, Taste hmmm it's just like a freshly squized fruit(mango) juice, with a light hopbitterness, expected way more from this.
3.7 My Bottom Line: Powdery resins and white peppercorns meet tropical fruit and light honey in this hazy IPA. Further Personal Perceptions: -A sheet of foam tops the hazy beige blond. -Mouthfeel is rather dry. -Bitterness levels are moderate for the style. -This lacks flavor definition to be a top-tier example, imho. Can.
4.3 Can: Poured a cloudy and hazy bright yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some excellent lacing. Aroma of floral undertones of citrusy notes with some tropical notes with some residual sugar notes is quite enticing. Taste is a great mix of floral undertones of hoppy citrusy notes with some tropical notes, dank and quiet a bit of residual sugar notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Incredible well brewed NEIPA thought maybe a tad to sweet for my taste.
4.1 16oz can. Poured a hazy yellow-orange color with a small off-white head. Aroma was a blast of citrus, pine and light floral notes. Flavor was really nice juicy citrus, floral hops. Pine resin notes. Tasty!
