Tree House Sap (December 2015-)

Tree House Sap (December 2015-)

Our holiday IPA brewed nearly exclusively with Chinook hops! A pungent aroma gives way to a delicate beer loaded with hop flavor. Sharp notes of grapefruit, pine, melon, and young mango give way to a dry finish making this one hard to put down. Originally brewed to be ‘sappy’, Sap has morphed into a more delicate yet complex IPA. We quite love it.

New recipe starting with December 2015 batches. Cans under this entry have a solid red color. If your can is not painted red, you have an older batch.

4.2 Pours yellow gold, white head. Aroma is melon, pine resin, orange, pineapple, mango. Flavor is gooey pineapple, resinous hop, mango, bitter pine sap... did NOT think I liked Chinook but wow.
3.9 Can. Dank with pungent pine/resin and sweet pineapple hop highlights. Well balanced with a good body and mouthfeel. More bitter then some of the other Tree House IPA’s but still a very solid beer.
3.6 Passionfruit, mango, pineapple and tanerine in nose. Pours hazy orange with white head. Taste is sweet to medium sweet with overriped tropical fruits and citrus. Medium to low bitter finish, average carbo. Overall smells great but bit too sweet.
4.0 16 oz. can from Dave via Cory via Cam - thanks, guys! Canned 6/14/18, under two weeks old. Pours a hazy gold with a finger of white head that settles into a thick uneven ring and smooth film, leaving some trailing lace in the glass. Notes of orange citrus, sweet and doughy malts, tea, pine, florals, resin, pineapple, melon, and straw. Light-medium bodied, with moderate soft carbonation and a doughy, lightly bitter, fruity, soft mouthfeel. Really nice.
4.1 Can, by way of a trade with Leighton. All red “core range” can. 7%. Very hazy, milky gold. Thin and shiny, lasting, fully lacing, white head. Looks boss. Nose has ripe pineapple. Orange sorbet. Fusty and sappy pine. Taste is sweet, first off, turning robust, pithy, citrusy and resinous bitter. Medium body. Slick and slightly oily. Punchy, pithy, resinous bitterness to finish.
3.6 Aromat intensywny, słodkie, przejrzałe cytrusy (mandarynki, pomarańcze). W smaku mocny efekt słodkiej pulpy owocowej, goryczka średniej wysokości, grejpfrutowa. Finisz słodki. Całość mocno soczkowa i nieco przyciężka, głównie przez wysoką słodycz.
3.9 Barwa mętna pomarańczowa, piana duża. Aromat owoce tropikalne, białe owoce, lekka zielona cebulka. W smaku soczek z owoców tropikalnych. Goryczka, średnia, krótka, żywiczna. Mega pijalne. Fajne pifko.
3.1 Aromat: nuty podobne do aldehydu, jablkowe, przejrzałe owce tropikalne, lekka zielona cebulka. Smak: slodki, goryczka leciutka. Zamglone, świetna piana.
4.0 Can. From Brother in law. Poured a cloudy light tannish beer with frothy head. Aroma is tropical mango and pine. Medium body. Medium bitterness. Some grapefruit pine and mango notes. Some bitter finish. Very nice.
4.4 Can: Poured a bright cloudy/hazy yellow color ale with a medium size white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of intense tropical notes with some melon and mango notes clearly coming out as well as some residual sugar notes. Taste is a mix of floral tropical fruits notes with some mango and melon notes clearly identifiable, some residual sugar notes and loads of dry leafy hops notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Super enjoyable IPA that I would wish would be more accessible.
3.9 Sample at Belgium Chimipalooza. Aroma is pine tree, yellow fruits. Rather dry, some acidic note (but not sour), creamy texture, yellow fruits and lots of pine tree.
4.0 Can shared by “hannont”. Colour...hazy straw with no head. Nose...peach flesh and skin, lemon zest and quince. Palate...fresh, fleshy and ripe with lightly dank hops and grape pips. The palate is demi sec and the finish is long and citrusy.
4.2 Aroma - dry and pungent nature of pine and citrus natured hops. Appearance - the body is a clean gold. The head is a 2+" white fluffy head. Taste - has a big dose of PNW hops, grapefruit, melon, mango, and dry hop qualities. Palate - body is medium, texture is smooth, carbonation is average, finish is dry, hoppy, and slightly sharp.
3.9 Can. Pale bright orange color. Slightly firm head. Aroma has pine, grapefruity notes. Nice mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Nice and unpretentious
4.2 Pours a hazy light orange yellow with a white foamy head. Canned at the brewery yesterday. Aroma is earthy and grassy. Taste is light and sweet with apricot and flowers. Complex refreshing. Additional tastings... extra notes of mellow sweet banana and melon.
4.0 Aromat i smak grapefruit, mango, melon, konkretna żywiczna goryczka, wchodzi jak złoto, dobre.
4.0 Puszka. Trochę cebulki w aromacie, ale potem już owocki. W smaku super soczyste, mega przyjemne, gładziutkie. Super.
3.8 Can shared at Lucky Bamboo. Thanks Andrew! Pours a clearish, deep gold to light copper with a finger of foam. Resinous nose with honeydew melon, tangerine and peach in the background. Some sweet nectar on the palate with more pine resin and melon notes. Clean and a nice pillowy mouthfeel. Finish has some medium to low bitterness.
3.8 16 oz can. Pours a hazy, golden orange color and topped by a thick off white layer of foam that slowly settles to a thin film and leaves nice streaks of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of citrus fruits with grapefruit, melon, and mango coming through to go with hits of resinous pine and dank grassy notes over a soft bready malt base. The flavor follows suit and shows more of the bitter grapefruit, soft melons, unripened mango, and other citrus fruit to go with resinous pine and ample bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied and smooth with ample carbonation that leads to a slightly dry, and bitter sweet citrus finish. Solid and easy drinking IPA just as you would expect from Tree House.
3.9 Pours a hazy gold from a can. Big melon aroma, hint of white grapefruit. Similar flavor. Pretty good beer.
3.9 Thanks to Andy for this. Pours cloudy light gold with a small white top. Aroma is melon, grapefruit hops and light grains. Taste is a great bouquet of citrus, melon and fruity hops with light grains.
3.7 Sharp citrus aroma. Cloudy yellow color with a small white head. Moderate bitter citrus hop flavor that fades in the finish. Palate is a little light.

4.2 Can. Poured a cloudy golden color with a medium sized head. Fruity, citrus, pine and nice and hoppy.
4.1 Thanks to David Selleslag Aroma is citric and peppery. Taste is pine, exotic fruit, and white pepper. Juicy palate. Hoppy aftertaste.
3.7 23rd October 2017 Bodney Towers Bottleshare. Big thanks to Leighton for the can. Very hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is smooth, soft and fairly dry, modest fine carbonation. Soft dry creamy malts. Trace of orange and lemon sherbet. Fresher orange into mild hop spice. Soft dry piney finish leaves a spicy orange and lemon linger. Would be hard pressed to identify this as an IPA, feels like SIPA and lower end of APA territory. Easy drinking.
3.9 Mailed to be from a very dear friend who doesn't even drink anymore yet waited in line for a whole mess of Tree House beers to be released to send out as gifts. What a trooper. Nose is slightly bitter hoppy kind of grassy. Bit of bitterness in the initial taste. Fades as it warms Solid IPA
4.0 19/XI/17 - 1Pt. can @ home - BB: n/a, canned: XI/3/17 (2017-1887) Thanks to T. and Akke for sharing the can! Pretty cloudy orange blond beer, small creamy yellowish head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aftertaste: more grapefruit, resinous, pineapple, nice bitter finish!
3.8 Hazy orange golden colour, white head. Fruity aroma, pineapple, mango, passionfruit. Sweet flavour, fruity hops. Sweet and fruity finish. Too sweet maybe but it works. (from 50cL can shared @ work)
