Trillium Fort Point Pale Ale - Double Dry Hopped

Trillium Fort Point Pale Ale - Double Dry Hopped

This double dry hopped pale ale contains the same base ingredients, for both malt and hops, as Fort Point Pale Ale, but with an additional dry hop of Citra. The added hops richly enhance the juicy tropical fruit flavors of pineapple/mango, create elevated green, herbaceous aromatics, and increase body.

ABV: 6.6 %

4.5 Can via PUB'R Holiday party. Pours turbid golden with fluffy, white head. Nose is intense New England, with golden melon, mango pineapple, grapefruit. Smooth, complex, fruity as hell flavor, stays dry and floral, and has a pronounced dankness that gives it character. This is a great beer.
2.9 Canned on 11/30/17. Pours a white grapefruit juice from a can, opaque golden. Grapefruit like aroma as well, but not much. Thin grapefruit/citrus flavor. Bitter but not unpleasant finish. Mostly surprised by how thin and watery it is. Was hoping for more but really can't rate this higher. Okay beer.

4.3 Trillium is best known for its top class New England IPAs, the currently extremely popular beer (sub)style of which this brewery is basically the summit, so nice to try something else from them: an APA hopped with Galaxy, Columbus and Citra. Sample from a fresh can at Hopishop: B.U.M.B.A. in Antwerp. Loose, bubbly, snow white head, cloudy yellow blonde with peachy hue. Aroma of lime juice, ripe mango, sweet onions, fried pineapple slices, lychee, stale old grapefruit juice, sweet dessert wine, moist dough. Lively tropical fruitiness in the mouth, sweet and perfumey lychee and mango notes but perfectly balanced by sourish lime juice effects so in all not tasting truly sweet, fluffy mouthfeel with soft, 'refined' carbonation. Doughy 'soil' supports a very aromatic, beguiling hop fragrance, mango and lime again but some sweet onion, pink grapefruit and vague pine as well, followed by a slight hint at warming alcohol, while malty juiciness persists. They can call this an APA but this is basically yet another variation on the NEIPA theme - though admittedly again a top quality one.
4.1 At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of mango, pineapple and tropical fruit. Taste has lots of pineapple, mango, haze, dank garlic hop and tropical fruit. Very nice again.
3.4 473ml can @ the office. Canned 2017-09-27 Pours a thick cloudy golden straw colour with a tiny head. Nose is yeasty, dank hops, with ample citrus rinds. Flavour is quite similar, however sub in pine bitterness for the citrus rind.
3.5 Tall can at Brian's office. Canned on 2017-09-27. Pours a cloudy blonde with a white head. Aroma is yeasty and dank with some tropical fruit notes. Similar taste with some earthy notes. Good one.
4.0 Great hazy juicy looking IPA. Mango tropical juicy hops with a bit of a grassy hop finish. Lots of flavor and full bodied but light enough to be easy drinking. Malt base has a bit of a biscuity/bready taste to it. Grassy hops get a bit more noticeable vs the tropical hops the more I have. Very solid and enjoyable beer. Lots of flavor and tropical hops and grassy hops balance each other nicely.
4.5 Brewskival 2017.
3.6 Draught at Brewskival cone 2017-08-26 Helsingborg AR: pineapple, bitter, AP: golden yellow, wee head F: pine juice, pineapple, bitter
4.3 Draft at Trillium beer garden. Pours pineapple yellow and very opaque. Lots of tropical citrus and pine on the nose and tongue. Finished with a fair amount of bitterness. Very fresh and flavorful.
