Tröegs Nugget Nectar Ale

Tröegs Nugget Nectar Ale

Squeeze those hops for all they’re worth and prepare to pucker up: Tröegs’ newest single batch brew, Nugget Nectar Ale, will take hopheads to nirvana with a heady collection of Nugget, Warrior and Tomahawk hops. Starting with the same base ingredients of our flagship HopBack Amber Ale, Nugget Nectar intensifies the malt and hop flavors to create an explosive hop experience.

While the brewery considers this an "Imperial Amber Ale" RateBeer considers it an IPA due to the hopping rate. There is no need to send any other corrections on the style.

3.5 nice clean amber look, good mix of hops, doesn't smell good, aftertaste is a little soapy.
3.4 Poured dark amber with decent amount of head. Floral aroma. Taste is smooth with a slight bitter bite. Aftertaste is slightly malty. Overall, another good beer from Troegs.
3.9 It's actually not crazy hoppy which makes it far better and more of a pleasurable palette
3.3 Bitter 7.5 alc Ibu 93 Amber ale
4.2 Can from half time in Poughkeepsie. Malts really shine with deep hops or compliment it. A bit of herbs and vegetables swimming in there.
4.1 Golden/copper color, with frothy creamy head. Aroma/Taste: Grapefruit, pine, pineapple, mango and lemongrass. Crisp medium dry finish. Very nice.
4.2 A deep unique red color not seen too frequently. Very pleasant nose, one that is unique as well. Definitely a solid beer that I stock up on as soon as my local bottle king receives it.
3.5 Very nice initial taste. Very bitter and dry after taste. Great color and smell to it though.
5.0 Earlier Rating: 2/22/2018 Total Score: 5 Best beer I ever had. 12.99 for 6 12oz bottles Really too much money to spend, but for special occasions it's wonderful!!!!!full body,
4.5 2/21/18 Had with Abby after a looooong day of thoracic surg. Made her French toast and chocolate strawberries. Poured from bottle. Deep amber with moderate head. Nose is all piney hops. Floral and inviting. Taste is similar. Floral and piney. Bitter with a bit of malty sweetness. Not as sweet/malty as I expected from it technically being a red ale. Medium feel. Somewhat sticky with lingering bitterness. Overall, a fantastic beer! Tastes more IPA than “Imperial Red Ale.” Very hoppy and very delicious! 2/1/19 With A watching iron man during dedicated. Went to hobby lobby today and ready to finish last 21q of UW tomorrow am. Nose is bold sticky resinous hops with lots of both pine and citrus pith. Taste starts out somewhat sweet and then erupts into a floral hop bomb. Malt up front quickly moves to sticky, piney hops. Aggressively hoppy with lots of floral bitterness. Palate is medium weight and fluff. Finish is looooong, dry and bitter hops. Overall, wasn’t ready for it last year. Expected a hop bomb this year and it delivered in a big way. Phenomenal.
3.3 It poured gold with a white head. The aroma was hoppy with floral notes and some carmel in the taste. It was mildly bitter but boozy.
3.4 Draft pint at Winking Lizard Peninsula Ohio. Thinner white head, some film on glass. Deep golden in color Earthy and hoppy in aromas. Taste is earthy and smooth. Alcohol is well hidden. Pretty decent India pale ale. Drinkable. Cheers!
4.9 Hands down one of my favorites. Love Troegg's, and enjoy the nugget nectar a lot. Love when it comes around.
4.0 Well made very good hoppy beer from a top class brewery Look forward to it's release every year
4.5 This beer is awesome.
4.0 From Sep 2006 Poured from 12oz bottle a clear amber gold with lots of bubbles and a huge head of foam that likes to start coming out of the bottle upon opening. The foam *does* settle down after a while but there's still a solid layer and lots of lacing right through the entire session. The smell is all hoppy with lots of citrus and some sweet malt. The taste is big on hops up front...the citrus in the smell is there but it's not super bitter as I expected and wait, the malt shows up mid way through with some caramel sweetness and it does a good job of balancing out the overall flavour. Nice. Very nice indeed. The finish just reiterates the balance in flavours that I mentioned and makes for a pretty darned delectable aftertaste. Wow. This is a goody! Bottom line: This is an awesome Amber that is so drinkable despite the rather high %abv and a *must* try in my book! Thanks to ggaughan and jwc215 for the samples I got in trade!!
5.0 full review at stoale85 on instagram. One of my legit fav beers. Defs would buy again. Always a trustworthy brewery. full review at stoale85 on instagram let's get fucked up.
4.6 Pours golden to light-golden amber with a one-finger off-white head with a hint of pine aroma. Tastes of perfectly balanced hops & amber malt with a heavy body & lively carbonation. Very full, complex, very good. Choc full of ingredients.
3.8 12oz bottle. Pours amber with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is caramel, floral hops, and a bit of resin. Taste is big caramel, pine, some citrus, and a little resin. Medium body. Average carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel.
3.5 Bottle to pint (from notes). Looks good for the style; a transparent amber with off-white head. Smells and tastes of citrusy, floral, and piney hops with notes of caramel and a bit of toast alongside a moderately bittersweet backbone. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full-bodied and fairly bitter. A good Red IPA.
3.5 Wow, how times change. Always wanted to try this. Now days it it is a bit heavy handed on the initial bittering and heavy malt body. Definitely not an IPA in the modern sense, but 10 years ago I could see it. Solid, but time has passed it by.
2.5 Very overrated beer. Bitter, and nothing special at all. I bought a 12-pack with high hopes, but ended up disappointed. I am giving the other 11 away to friends.
5.0 Reddish amber pour with a small fluffy white head. Aromas of hops, citrus, resin and pine. Sweet caramel malt taste up front followed by cirtus fruits and floral hops. Very nice bitter sweet finish. Sweeter and more malty than I expected, but very flavorful, smooth and wonderfully balanced. I thoroughly enjoyed this offering. Can see myself knocking back a few of these.
4.3 Hoppy and delightful. Pours an amber-golden color and clear, with a citrusy/piney aroma and a mouthful of yummy hops. Some good clean pine and orangey-grapefruit flavor behind, with hops coming up in front. Good for drinking in bed with cheese fries after a long day at work, as your sweet love tries to make you feel better. Always a favorite for solid and complex hoppy IPA flavors.
3.4 Pour is a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is a melon hop with some pine and caramel malt. Flavor is a fruity hop with a manageable bitterness. I also get some heavy but not overly sweet malt and a little resin left on the tongue. This was a decent beer but a bit too much malt for my liking. It’s not a sweet malt bomb but also not a real hop bomb as well.
4.1 35 cl can a fiend brought from NY. Dark amber color, clear, thick creamy offwhite head. Fresh resiny smell. Aroma is resiny, hoppy (dry hopping), caramel malts, yeast, a burnt note, some fusels, vague fruityness, minerals. Taste is structured, balanced, bitter. Texture is quite thick, average carbonation, full body. Aftertaste reminds me of dogfish iipa, mild alcoholic leftover. Quite nice.
4.3 Aroma’s good fresh hops, malt. Flavor’s like nose, excellent balance between bitter, sweet, tang, hops and malt. Great body and finish.
3.2 Aroma: Pine and slight citrus. Appearance: Clear dark amber with a white head. Taste: Hops and caramel. Palate: high carbonation but smooth. Overall: too piney for me.
4.0 3/3/17. Draft at Beer Durham. Pours a beautiful copper w a light head and nice lacing. Wonderful floral and citrus nose. Great balance between malt, alcohol, and hops.
4.7 Amazing seasonal release from Troegs Aroma: Intense floral Hops; sweet nectar goodness. Appearance: Beautiful Amber Color; Clear; frothy head Taste: Medium sweetness from the nectar, heavy bitter cause of the hops = amazing flavor. Palate: Full body with Slick & thick texture; Nugget Nectar is a lively beer with a sweet & bitter finish. Overall: Always look forward to this time of year where Troegs releases this gem!
