Tuatara Pilsner

Tuatara Pilsner

A hopped up new world Pilsner using all NZ hops, creating a robust, hoppy Pilsner with a refreshing clean crisp finish. NZ Pacific Jade, NZ Motueka, NZ Riwaka, NZ Nelson Sauvin hops. An authentic Czech yeast throws the bitterness forward and enhances the malt.

Note: There is obviously 2 very different labels one for a Pilsner and one for Bohemian Pilsner, but it has been decided that they are the same?

Taste: Crisp, firm bodied with notes of citrus and grass. Good subtle hop bitterness and light aroma of citrus and malt.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, hops (bittering: Pacific Jade; flavouring: Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka), Czech yeast.

3.4 33cl bottle. A clear pale golden/yellow beer with a huge good lasting white head. Aroma of mild dry bitter hops, green hops, hay. Taste of dry grassy bitter hops, hay, flowers, some cereals, not bad!
3.5 Dumpf hopfiger Antrunk. Getreidig, runde Herbe, weich, sehr süffig. Spritzig, geringe Karbonisierung. Rund, zum Ende etwas trocken. Gut. 10/11/11/11//11
3.6 Nice head on a slightly hazy light straw colored body. Aroma has mild lemon and grain notes. Taste is clean moderate bitterness that builds. Texture is crisp. A solid pilsner.
3.5 Bottle. Poured a lemon yellow with a slight haze and a tall and rocky white head with good retention. Aromas of lemon, spice, white florals, grass, gooseberry, and faintly tropical hops. Mid-weight but firm and crisp with medium carbonation and a moderate length and intensity citrus and grassy bitterness to finish.
3.3 Bottle from Craftbeer-Shop.com. Clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and moderate hoppy - grass and flowers. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 210917
3.4 Tap. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is grainy, physalis, kiwi. Taste is dough, kiwi, lieblich, but also dry. Medium carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Fun!
3.6 330ml bottle at the House of Belgium, Xiamen. Pours clear golden yellow with a white head. Aroma of grain with hops. Floral grainy taste. Bitter finish. Nice.
4.0 Crisp and very tasty Pilsner - but £11.60 a pint in Pint Shop Cambridge... wtf?!
3.7 As Tuatara Bohemian Pilsner. Pours creamy yellow, nice white foam. Aroma is fresh, hoppy and grassy. Some biscuit sweetness. Lots of hops here, dry and hoppy lions. Not sure how well that corresponds with style guidelines but I like this.
3.4 Poured from their unique 330 ml bottle with the scaly, dino skin texture into a pils glass. The appearance of this pilsner brewed with NZ hops is a clear pale golden tone, topped with a moderate head of white froth of which a thin ring is retained throughout the drink. The aromas are a mix of bready malts, floral hops, and earthy doughy yeast. Tastewise, there is a little sweetness at the start, but mostly a clean crisp bitter flavour throughout, over the distinct bread and dough malts. Mouthfeel is light and crisp with an average level of carbonation. Nice, memorable example of a pilsener, thanks to the unique mixture of hops used.
4.0 well aroma little bit dry
2.9 Tap at Cosmic Comic Cafe. Clear golden color, small white head and lace. Light grainy and fruity nose. Light-bodied. Grainy, grassy, a bit buttery, very Bohemian. Well-brewed.
3.0 Draught@Brewdog Helsinki. Golden colour with a mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is earth, some grains, grass and mild sweet and bready malts to it. Flavour is grassy, hayish, some floral and mild grainy and bready notes.
3.5 1/2 pint on tap @ One Pint Pub. Pours clear golden with a medium head. Aroma is clean malts with some fresh hops. Flavor is bitter malts with a crisp hoppyness. Almost too hoppy. Almost. Nice.
3.3 Tap @ One pint pub. Pours clear golden with a thick white head. Earthy, slightly buttery and rubbery aroma. Grassy as well. Flavor has grass, wet hay, earth, hops, floral notes.
3.7 5%ABV. czech pilsner. Poured out light gold. 5ºSRM. Mouthfeel is light soap. Palate has a beautiful floral character with jasmine being most prominent, there is a hint of chrysantehmums as well. Malty palate is soda biscuits, water crackers, Hops are floral, then vanishing into a long thin sappy resinous bitter. Overall a floral hoppy Pilsner. Goes on Favorites List!
2.4 Taste was quite pleasant, but the aroma was subtle to the point of homeopathy. Refreshing with trout for dinner, and definitely didn’t overpower the fish.
3.4 Tuatara Pilsner. Molto carbonata, corpo medio-leggero.
3.0 Tap @ Konttori. Pours clear pale golden color with a large white head. Aroma is grassy hoppy, somewhat citric, a bit herbal too. Harsh grassy bitterness on the flavor, citrus, gooseberries. Refreshing but a bit too harsh. 4214
3.2 As Pilsner. Clear light gold with a thick head of foam. The aroma is incredibly perfumey with grape notes, possibly hopped with Nelson Sauvin? Crackery malts, ash and floral hops on a crisp light body. Possibly past its best as it was on sale but once was enough. Surprisingly grassy and bitter.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy straw coloured, with white, frothy well retained head. Great lacing. Very gentle lemon blossom and grass hops aromas, with a hint of honey malt. Great bitterness throughout palate, combining grass, spicy and citrus hops and an ever so slight sweet honey and bread malt background. Long, bitter, spicy finish. Refreshing, crisp, clean. Very good pils.
3.5 Bottle. Golden color, clear liquid, white head. Taste is rather too bitter for Czech pilsner. Aroma is on the hops side. Unpleasant vomit smell, but quite good beer though.
3.5 330ml bottle Pale straw color with good head. Aroma is grassy/citrus. Mild bitterness with crisp finish - a good session beer for a hot summer day.
3.5 330ml bottle. Crystal clear, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average to huge, thick, fluffy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Minimally soapy, floral hoppy and husky, malty spicy aroma, yeasty doughy undertones. Taste is malty spicy, slightly doughy yeasty, floral hoppy overtones; soft and smooth, clean palate.
3.2 330ml Bottle. Pours a very light and hazy gold with lots of white head. A subtle bitterness with clean hop flavours coming through.
3.8 330ml bottle. Aroma is grass, peach and melon. Flavour is funky grass, lots of peach and apricot into a bitter finish. Certainly not my favourite style, but by far the best NZ example of it. Crisp, fruity and easy to drink. If I’m in the mood for something lager then this is what I’d go for every time.
4.2 Not a huge nose on this beer, but then on tasting was pleasantly surprised by the lovely hoppy profile from the NZ hop focus. Good length, great fresh pallet. lovely beer!
3.0 330ml bottle into glass. Manky, earthy, grassy nose. Pale yellow beer with thin white head. A few bubbles. Zingy taste and YES, grainy pilsener notes. Interesting take, like a pils with over-ripe fruit and dry earth. Dry finish lingers.
3.9 This is ace - great body, a twist on the Czech style with some fruity notes, clean, compact. Just a really well made, flavourful beer.
