’East India Pale Ale’ was first brewed in England last century for the colonies East of India such as New Zealand and Australia. The beer was unpasteurised and secondary fermentation occured in the bottle during the long journey. Thirsty settlers loved its natural effervescent character and we reckon it still hits the spot today.
Brewer’s Comment: This fine ale is a thoroughly refreshing beer with a light palate best suited to beaches, barbecues and all beer related occasions.
Serving Suggestions: Serve lightly chilled on its own or with any manner of barbecued meats. At restaurants, or when trying to impress others, try and use a glass. Do not mix with salad.
1.7330ml bottle
Amber pour with OK head.
Aroma is malty, grainy, sulfur and a strong banana/solvent note.
Not much in the way of bitterness to speak of.
Also very solventy.
Ho-hum.
4.0This is a very mild East India Pale Ale, yet it has evidents zests of the style. This light coloured beer is very drinkable and refreshing with just a touch of hoppiness and bitterness. A all in all good brew.
2.0light body, a relatively cheap NZ made beer. Nothing to rave about, but tastes fine after a spot of hard work. A bit of a price pusher, and a long standing Kiwi icon.
2.2Bottle. Dark Amber in colour. Looks like a pale version of Coca-Cola. Malty; lightly roasted malts, caramel. Unable to detect any hops at all. Sweet Malty throughout. Definitely NOT an IPA; didn’t taste much like beer. Bland. Nondescript. (2009)
2.9Clear dark, dark orange/brown with thin, foamy white head. Smells of sweet biscuit, caramel malt. Taste is quite sweet too, not as sweet as smell though. Some hops there as well at the end. Very clean and refreshing. Extremely drinkable. East India Pale Ale might be a little misleading, but otherwise a solid brew.
1.5Multiple cans. Bland watery brew lacking any tastes. Aroma is heavy metallic. Nothing resembling IPA at all, it is more like cheap pale lager. Avoid.
2.2Rating from old records: from bottle in shaker. A bit of caramel malt with an odd finish, a long way from a New World IPA.
2.233cl bottle. Clear amber colour with a small white head. Malts, bread in the Aroma. Average carbonation and light watery body. Taste is more on the sweet side but light. Overall, drinkable in hot summer day if there isn’t anything else.
2.3Dark amber clear with no head. Firstly sweet aroma, then comes some hints for bread in aroma. Mild amber lager, a bit sweet bread taste with metallic notes in the end.
2.5Appearance: clear, golden, amber, white foam, rocky head, stays average time. Aroma: bread, mead, sweet but quite weak. Taste: medium sweetness, lightly sour, lightly bitter. Palate: light body, thin feel, soft carbonation, no finish.
1.0ÜBEL!!!!!
1.8Nicely designed bottle. The beer pours light brown, white but quickly dissipating head. Aroma is mainly malt, citrus and what I think could be green apple or pear, but overall very watery. Taste is slightly sweet; notable is that there is none of the expected bitterness at all. The beer has a light body and a very thin, watery mouthfeel. Caronation is above average.
2.008-May-2016-0,33L Flasche. Helles Rotbraun, klar, cremefarbener Schaum. Aroma: Minimal malzig. Antrunk minimal malzig + röstig. Ziemlich nichtssagend. Bewertung 2 im Hinblick auf den genialen Werbespot ( since 1889 temptation has been rising => brewery run only by women/ georgeous women .... )
2.2Session IPA? It’s a joke not session IPA. It’s almost the same as tasteless lager from macro brewery. Almost no aroma, except a bit of malts, no taste at all.
4.8A refreshing aroma with 4% alcohol content makes it perfect refreshment for summer. Bottle, 330 ml with a neck shorter than that of, for instance, Corona. Taste, light sweetness. Light body. Good for happy hours.
2.9Clear red-brown color with foam layer. The smell is much like wet grains with no really recognizable hopping. The most present thing in the taste is the carbonation, even though it is not massively overdone. It has a sweetness with a malty character and it lacks a style corresponding hopping. Calm aftertaste. I would rather characterize it as an amber lager or a red ale.
2.0330ml Dose. Kastanienfarbebes Bier. Malziges Aroma, wenig Hopfen. Süffiger flacher Geschmack. Kein Pale Ale, der Name täuscht!
1.9Butelka. Generalnie jedno ze słabszych piw spożytych na Nowej Zelandii. Brak pełnego wysycenia, słaba goryczka a i reszta też do kitu. Polecam tylko na upały i jako ciekawostkę.
0.8Draft. What the actual f***? This is not in any world a freaking IPA. Amber color. The aroma is MALT. NOTHING BUT MALT. This is like a bad altbier or some shit. Flavor of MALT. Is there A hop in this, let alone many hops to necessitate a hop rack? Palate is meh. Listen guys, you can’t brew an American adjunct lager and call it an imperial stout. You’re similarly off here. Learn to brew.
1.0This slightly foamy IPA has virtually no aroma. Only a little bit of caramel may be suggested. When I taste I’m are in doubt about whether it is an IPA, for it is only a little caramel malt with a little watery hoppy bitterness in the final. I have tasted discount lagers with more hop bitterness than this IPA. If you choose to print the text ’India Pale Ale’ on a label, then you should also fill in hops so the beer has an IBU more than 2.
1.8Botella 33 cl tomada en 2006. Fc pref 11-2007. De el c. I goles. Sin muchos buenos recuerdos. Corriente sin más.
0.5Someone should approach the ’brewers’ of this muck at the Tui Brewery and ask them to define ’East India Pale Ale’, because it sure as hell don’t taste like one, and to top it off, it doesn’t even warrant the title ’ale’ or ’beer’ for that matter. What a shocker! Extremely insipid and utter Yuck!
2.6Bottle 33cl. Clear deep amber, small frothy white to off-white head, settles quickly, light lacing; shy nose, malty, caramel, bit toasted; taste light medium sweet and bitter, malty, caramel; light body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation, light sweetbitter aftertaste, herbal notes, bit watery; not an IPA at all but drinkable anyway.
2.2Butilka: Clear, deep amber coloured, lazy carbonation, rapidly collapsing off-white head; mild sweetish-caramelly nose, some vegetables detectable, but in opposite to the vegetables are the hops very hard to find; mild sweetish-bitter flavour, light bodied; a faint malty bitterness shows up short caramelly finish. An IPA? Oh no…
2.2330ml Flasche. Bernsteinfarben und klar. Kleine Schaumkrone. Leichte Malznoten, ansonsten ziemlich wässrig und langweilig. Aber geht gut und leicht runter.
0.5Taste more like water, no hops taste, no taste at all, sorry but definitly not recomendable :((
