3.7On tap half pint at Gilly's Craft Beer & Fine Wine in Rockville, MD.
Clear, lightly hazy, sparkling, reddish copper with 2-finger ivory head that lingers and very good lacing.
Aroma of pine and floral hops, caramel and a touch of tropical fruit.
Taste of caramel, brown bread, pineapple, grapefruit, floral hops and mango.
Medium full body and medium carbonation.
3.512oz bottle. Pours a hazy pale golden color with a two finger white head that has good retention. Big aroma of strong floral and citrus hops. The flavor starts off with some nice floral hoppy bitterness that lasts throught. The hops assert themselves with some nice citrus qualities while letting the smooth and creamy malt flavors creep in, in the middle. The finish is dry with a floral, clean hop flavor. Medium body and light carbonation.
3.4Amber in color with a good sized off-white head. Aroma is of light bubble gum, citrus, grass, and a hint of styrofoam. Taste is of spicy hops, leaves, grass, and grapefruit.
3.312oz bottle fresh from the brewery. Nice looking pour: cloudy dark brown with a small khaki head and nice lacing. Aroma is kinda light: more malt than hop. Flavor is more of the same: malt and then some light bitterness at the finish. Fine overall.
3.9brew in Birrerie Paradise, Alexandria,VA. pretty decent APA, great smell, long finish, nice color.
3.6Hazy amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of woody/floral hops, citrus, & caramel malt; Flavor of slight sweet malt, caramel, pine hops, and citrus; Finish is slightly bitter; Nicely balanced; Overall, very nice APA.
3.7Bought a case of this stuff for ~15 bucks. It’s lasted forever. Poured a rich golden red with a nice pillowy white head. Nice lace, clearly bottle conditioned. Aroma was sweet caramel and some grassy earthy hops. Flavors were just the same, some caramel with a nice hop presence that brought a nice bitterness to the table. Smooth and very drinkable. Well done on all accounts. Carbonation was average. Good stuff...
3.7Whole Foods Market, DC 4-pack ($11): Pours a copper color without too much in the way of head, although there is some lacing to be found. Aroma includes some pale malts and a moderate amount of hops; however, upon tasting the actual beer, it seems like there are a whole hock more hops than the aroma let known (this is presumably a good thing). The front is lighter than the back of the beer and the hops intensity grows up into the end and leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste. At the finish there is a note of something that reminds me of roasted malts. There is also a sweet note to be found at one point. This is a top-tier APA and should be respected as such.
2.812 oz. bottle. Pours a very murky, almost muddy amber with a very large linen white head that lasted until mid-glass and left partial lace. With such a huge head, it is difficult to pick up much aroma. There is a bit of malt and some biscuit and perhaps just a bit of citrus, but most of it is indistinguishable. The flavor is weak malt with a again some biscuit followed by some mostly flavorless hops bitterness. I just bought this bottle two days ago, but this is either a poor example of an IPA or an outdated bottle. Since there is no date on the bottle to determine its age, and it is not coated with a layer of dust nor is there any gross sediment, I don’t know what to think other than to say with all of the IPA’s out there, I certainly would not look to try this one again anytime soon.
3.4Poured a hazy orange color with a thin off-white head. Very hoppy citrus aroma with lemon and some butterscotch. Taste is also very hoppy with some grass and hay. Lots of grapefruit as well. Finish has some interesting caramel flavors with more citrus and hops. Overall pretty flavorful, and well balanced. I don’t know if I like the combination of flavors as much, but it is quite drinkable.
3.7Bottle. Bright golden color, white head. Aroma of freshly mown grass. Taste has lemon lime, straw, grapefruit. Nice.
3.2Bottle. Nice hop aroma. Flavor has some complexity with some malt and citrus, maybe grapefruit, upfront and some bittering hops in the finish.
4.2have seen this one for awhile...finally picked up a growler at Whole Foods. amber pour with a small off-white head. pine and citrus aroma. strong malt flavor, very hoppy. well balanced brew.
3.5From bottle. Light toffee and oxidation notes. A bit of metallic character and bittering resin. Medium roast aroma. Deep amber clear with a bit of a haze, topped with creamy off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts with light acidity, medium roasted sweetness and toffee. Big hop flavors, though a bit dull. Herbal. Huge chalky bitter finish and residual bitterness on the tongue. I think this was a bit aged when I bought it, so I’ll have to rate it fresher if I can find it.
3.5Pours amber. Aroma is earthy, grassy and hints of citrus. Taste is caramel sweetness. Light carbonation provides a oily mouthfeel.
3.8Damn tasty brew. Pours and deep amber orange color with a white foam head. Arome of citrus, pine, and caramel. Sweet citrus taste with a big caramel backbone and a nice hop hit.
2.4Very low hop aroma. A lot of hop bite keeps the smooth texture from being enjoyed. If you’re going to put that much hops in a beer that should be more left of it than the cheek puckering preservative aspect of hops.
3.2March Madness 2011
Aroma - very slight hop aroma, no indication of how hoppy it is
Appearance - cloudy amber, big head
Taste - HOPS! A little bitter overall and finish
Palate - medium body, lots of carbonation
Overall - A very hoppy APA, a little too bitter for my tastes but typical of the style
3.7Draft. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is rich pine, citrus, biscuit, caramel. Flavor starts sweet with a nice hop finish. Nicely balanced.
3.6pours an orange amber color, hint of haze with thin white head. Citrus spicy nose. Nice clean initial flavor, malt isn’t overwhelmed but hops still take over but not overtly so. It’s crisp and refreshing, not heavy or cloying. A nice compromise against some extremely heavily hopped IPAs. Yeah, this is very tasty.
3.6Pours a pretty amber with a pillowy lasting head. The aroma has some bread and caramel with a bit of pine and citrus. The flavor is quite nice, similar to the aroma, nicely balanced with a sweet malt start and a hop kick. Smooth and refreshing.
3.4Amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, pine. Flavor is heavy pine hops with some lemon and spicy notes. Bit of a caramel kick. Clean finish. Not to bitter. Nice beer.
3.2Appearance: Pours out a hazed, amber-gold body with a tall, meringue-like, off-white head.
Smell: Spicy, grassy nose, primarily, with supporting notes of biscuit dough, humble barley grains, mineral water, distant caramel, and dried citrus peels.
Taste: Pale biscuit-toned maltiness with a lightly sweet touch of caramel. Grassy, spicy, and herbaceous hoppiness at first, much like a strong black English tea, followed by musty citrus accents (passes from grapefruit to orange and back again). Moderate bitterness. A bit minerally on the back half, with the suds helping to accentuate the bitterness a tad. Finishes bitter and quite dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation. The body is just a hair thin and the carbonation a hair too hair, working against the beer as a whole.
Drinkability: It’s been a long time, Tuppers. Nearly eight years by my count. A nice revisit, though I wasn’t taken with it then, nor am I now.
3.5Bottle. Pours golden orange with an off white head. Grassy floral hop aroma with some light citric notes. The flavor has grassy and floral hops on a biscuity pale malty base, with light citric notes and a medium bitter finish. Solid.
3.6Pours a nice hazy orange color with an off white medium sized foamy head. Smells of both hops and malts. Seems to be slightly in the favor of hops but with a good amount of malts that balance the aroma nicely. Taste is not as sweet as I thought it might be. Has a nice malty flavor with a bitter finish. Tasty pale ale.
3.2Aroma: A roasty odor with hints of floral hops. Alcohol apparent, and possibly resin.
Appearance: Pours a reddish brown witha creamy head.
Taste: A heavy sweetness with light bitterness.
Palate: Full body with an oily texture, lively carbonation with a long finish.
Overall: A decent beer, but not as bitter as I’d prefer from a supposedly hoppy ale. Obviously well crafted, I could see this pairing well with venison or something similar.
3.5Pours a dark copper with a high, three-finger head into my tulip and has quite a bit of lacing. The aroma is a little bit week--some floral hops as well as a little bit of citrus. Some slight graininess to the malt. The taste is somewhat grainy with a mildly-assertive hop presence. The hop bill seems to consist mostly of floral hops, with a bit of resin there as well.
The mouthfeel is a bit thin with a tad less carbonation than would do the brew well; a bit of astringent bitterness (tea-like) in the mouthfeel as well. Drinkability is pretty good--low alcohol and a pretty good taste makes this a fairly-sessionable beer.

4 pack from Green’s on Ponce. Pours a really cloudy, muddy dark orange with an everlasting white head.
Lacing looks pretty good. Now for the real test: going in for a sniff.
Smells pretty decent. Plenty of grapefruit and citrus with adequate
sweetness. Sort of reminds me of orange juice. The hops make the flavor too.
It’s obvious and approachable Cascade business, but I’m certainly not
one to complain about that. The palate is just about right for the
style. Any heavier and it may get sticky. This seems spot on. I really,
really wish breweries would date stamp their IPA’s, but I seem to have
lucked out on this one.
3.3Bottle, hazy copper pour with light foam head. Grains and light hops on the nose. Earthy with malt grains and hop notes, nothing outstanding here just an average drinker.
3.5Poured a hazy amber. Nice off-white head that lingered and laced the glass nicely. Smelled of pine, resin, earthy, and a hint of citrus hops. Also detecting some small malt/caramel backbone. Medium-light body, creamy. THin on the finish which is otherwise dry and bitter. Tastes like it smells, hoppy, pine, earthy, citrus, w/ a small caramel backbone and nice hop bitterness. Definitely an old friend I’m glad to catch up with.
