With a little tip of the hat to our scientific, pioneering neighbors we created the innovative atom smasher limited run artisan beer.
A heft, full-bodied lager reminiscent of Marzen beers from days gone by. However, this beer is aged in our oak foudres to add a complexity unmatched by the imported version of Oktoberfest beers today. Just add Ledersosen!

3.9A strong marzen. But nice bready malty beer. Nose is fruity. Flavor is yeasty. Body is creamy. Wood is subtle but obvious. Nutty creamy marzen like well done. I would drink this or get this. Nice hop balance. Well done.
3.3Bottle from backlog notes. Pours a clear amber/copper color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, light spice, oak, some fruit character especially on the nose, general bitterness to the finish, ok.
4.6Nice balance of simple physics with a touch of pop. No huge hoppy explosion. Not too sweet or sour.
2.9Tap at GABF. Pours a clear orange with small off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is bready malt, spice, dark fruit. Medium body, rye, bread, light booze finish, decent.
3.2Alewife, Queens tap: pours amber with a white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, and some tree. Taste is kind of sweet. Low hoppiness. Some tree. Alcohol is relatively well covered. Easy drinking but not very memorable.
4.0Malty typical oktoberfest aroma with just a hint of oak. Very pretty amber color with a trace of a white head. The oak comes through more so in the taste and it is a welcome addition. It adds just the right amount of bite to a style that can sometimes come off a bit bland. The palate is superb - silky with more carbonation than most oktoberfest beers I have tried. Very drinkable for the ABV. This is a good offering from 2 Brothers, a brewery that everyone needs to check out.
3.6Bottle. Nose of caramel, honey, some chocolate. Light amber with lace. Fruity flavor, plum, peaches, caramel, light peppery bitterness. Don’t get all tha tmuch barrel, but nice stuff like a bock.
3.5Two brothers atom smasher
BA Oktoberfest that is a clear orange color with no head. A bit of tannic oak and a prune/apricot stone fruit character. The taste is dry, oaky caramel , molasses and clean. Quite nice.
3.6I’ve really been going after the oktoberfests this season. Fine copper pour very little head. Nose is oak and light caramel. Tastes of old caramel, biscuits, hay, cardboard, herbal, flannel shirt and oak. Dry and slightly boozy but I kind of dig it.
3.9Oak barrel aged October fest. Oak flavor really hits the palate. Pairs nicely with a good cigar. Nice to have 2 but couldn’t drink more than that.
2.9Draft. Pours bronze color with thin light beige head that dissipates quickly; some lacing. Bready malt aroma. Bready malt flavors with some subtle vanilla oak notes.
3.1Bottle. Amber-orangey-gold pour, frothy white head with decent retention. Nose is caramel, dried grass, candied orange peel, dates. Mouth is relatively sweet, lots of caramel, grass and a subtle bitterness, some orange, warm finish for a märzen.
3.1Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a semi-clear golden amber colored brew with an average sized off-white head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of roasted sweet caramel malt, a hint of floral hops and a touch of cream tartar Taste is medium bodied with flavors of sweet caramel malt and floral hops and a touch of fruit. Finish is semi-sweet with a caramel malt and floral hops. A nice Munich style oktoberfest and even has some aging smoothness detected in the finish.
3.5It pours bronze with an off white head. The aroma has dry roasted malt, oak and light toffee. It has a medium body with light carbonation. The taste is fairly dry for the style with lots of woodiness, spice, and crusty bread. Good.
3.6On tap at Ellyn’s in Glen Ellyn, L., dispensed to a house-logoed tulip showing a fairly clear, light mahogany hue, with a finger’s width of off white head foam, and spots & strands of lacing. The nose was some dark caramel & dried fruit sweetness, toasted maltiness, with a light but distinct Munich scent. Better than medium bodied, with fair carbonation, and a mild creaminess to the mouthfeel, the taste was as the aroma notes, including a slightly roasted, earthy, and lightly tannic bitterness that lingered, with noticeable alcohol presence. Would have appreciated a dryer, less sweet finish, but a tasty, Marzen "on steroids", nonetheless.
4.2Alcohol taste and smell with this beer. Kind of bready with alcohol lingering within the taste. Sits ok on the palate. Not what I would call a oktoberfest beer, very poor example.
3.2A little syrupy, very sweet. Slight nutty, slight spicy. Has a medium palate with a low carbonated beer. Nice beer for a end of day
3.0A light copper color, pours with a nice fluffy head. Carmel, some light roast malt on the nose and the first sip. The profile rounds out with just a touch of hops, and maybe some dryness from the oak. A lighter marzen that hides the higher ABV.
3.1Tan with a hint of copper in color. Somewhat fluffy light khaki head. Fairly weak head. I catch hints of toasted malt and sour mash and a wisp of noble hops, but not enough to make me take notice. Starts sweet with toasted malt and caramel notes. Hints of oak and floral hops. Pleasing in a sweet marzen way. A bit more toasted malt and tone down the caramel and floral notes and this one is golden. 10/14
4.5Poured into a perfect pint.
3.5 A: Clear light orange color. Two fingers of frothy/creamy beige head. Retention is about average and lots of spotty lacing is left.
5.0 S: This smells absolutely wonderful. Toasted malts, layers of caramel, and that lager yeast twang. Oak adds a nice layer of complexity with vanilla contributions. This is whatever the olfactory version of "smooth" is. It’s just such a pleasant, subtle nose.
4.5 T: The taste can’t live up to the nose, but that’s okay since it’s still delicious. Caramel and toasted malts, subtle vanilla, and a light metallic lager yeast flavor. Everything is right where it should be.
4.75 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Silky smooth with a pleasant creaminess. Near perfect here.
5.0 D: The best octoberfest beer I’ve had this season. It may not have bold flavors or a ton of complexity, but it’s so subtly well done, that it’s a near perfect beer.

3.0Draught @ Albion. Hazy reddish brown with small frothy beige head, very faint caramel aroma, high carbonation, woodsy flavor, slightly bitter caramel taste, abrupt finish. Interesting.
3.2Pours a medium amber with two finger head. Smells of light malt and a touch of wood. Flavors of malt, a little wood, and a touch of fruit.
3.3Very nice Oktoberfest beer. Higher abv but the overall taste wasn't heavy. Great flavor as well
2.8Bottle. Best part of this beer is its aroma. Taste rather average. Nothing really stands out. Kinda confused on genre but overall, drinkable.
3.8Clear Amber pour with a little white head. Sweet fruity aroma. Definitely malt forward but not as much as other fest beers. Slick and creamy kinda. I like it a lot. The oak aging adds a bit.
2.2Ugh. Not a fan of this beer. Lacks all of the malty goodness of an O/M. Aroma was weak. Earthy with a slightly toasty malt smell. Not inviting. Pour was a clear medium brown with a one finger off white head. Taste was not very good. This beer did not benefit from any oak aging as its flavor is thin enough that you can’t taste it. Lager yeast with a big metallic flavor dominated with roasted malt in the finish.
2.712oz bottle pours a clear Amber with a large khaki head. Aroma of faint mildly sweet caramel malt, fruity, and a light spice. Taste of caramel malts, fruity hops and yeast, there is a bitterness and spice on the finish I’m not digging.
3.312oz bottle. 1/11/16 BB date. Appearance: Crystal clear dark copper/amber, with a low, slightly off white foam head.
Aroma: Lightly toasted malt with some herbal hop notes. Touch of light caramel and vanilla.
Taste: Rich toasted and caramel malt sweetness, with well balanced, but not strong herbal bitterness. Almond noticeable on the back end.
Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation. Slight hint of alcohol on the swallow.
Finish: Well balanced bitterness, but this is malt forward with some lingering toast. Some alcohol and almond stick around as well.
Overall: A solid Marzen, still very drinkable considering the elevated ABV. Oak aging adds little character, but I do pick up a touch of almond. Nice on a cool evening.
3.4I have tried this one a few years in a row. I’m a fan of Marzen style and every year I have my fill of the traditional German Marzens. This one has a different spin on style. A full bodied malt. The flavors of the oak aging are there. The abv. is upped to almost imperial levels. Bready and caramel malts are the main focus here.
