2.1 Julie feels that it taste like licking an air freshener. Very flower and forgettable she gives a 0.2. I think it is mellow but boring not very hoppy
3.4 At last, an AIPA that acknowledges unsubtleness. Clear, medium pinky-bronze. Fair label. Standard 12 oz longneck. Toasted toffee aroma. Steep bitterness, husky, tannic, grainy sweetness. Slightly heavy body, loses carbonation, bittering clings a bit. ABC Liquors, Betton.
2.5 On tap at Capones, pours amber with small white head, nice lacing. Aroma of resinous hops, sweet malt, and syrup. Flavor is sticky malt, orange booze, sugar, and mismanaged hops. Way too sweet and boozey with an ugly look as far as I’m concerned. Lowlight of the day.
3.6 Mild fruity and floral aroma, sweet cereal. Appears copper, some foam and lace. Tastes of bitter hopping that is balanced very well with sweet but crisp roast malt and sweet unroasted cereal. Palate is foamy. Overall, very balanced for a wet hopped beer, the was done quite well.
3.4 Bottle. Bubbly amber. Spotty lacing. Cereal grain nose. Yeasty body, almost raisin like notes. Bitter without being a palate wrecker.
3.8 Draft at The Keg Stand. Pours murky brown with some off white head. Not very attractive. Lots of grain and little hops in the nose. Some bitterness in the taste but tastes a lot like a barleywine.
3.5 Deep amber color. Big off white head. Plenty of lacing. Nice malt aroma with notes if bread and slight hops. Nice malty flavor with a bitter punch in the back.
4.5 Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade. She pours a nice cloudy burnt orange color and leaves the same colored body with a nice one finger white foamy head that leaves super nice spotty spider web lacing. The way the head dies is enthralling as it lingers a bit, turns lumpy, picks up the pace and then slows down, not sure how else to describe this, but what a show! The body is clear yet there is no carbonation seen rising. The smell has a magical earthy, bitter hoppy and malty, aroma that wants to pierce my olfactory senses but maintains a super nice balance between all. Its practically almost perfect. The taste brings back the earthy, hoppy, maltiness and gives a good citrus back-up that I really like. On the palate, she sits about a medium, with a superb creaminess, nothing harsh on the tongue. Though the ABV is fairly high, this is a fairly drinkable IPA. Overall, for a long time I didn’t like IPA’s and then I learned to distinguish between English and American and thought I liked the English more, this one really changed my mind.
2.8 Lot 2521, vintage 2011 Pours a dark reddish brown with a solid finger of soapy, peanut foam leaving behind pretty cobwebs. Smell is piny, earthy, tea like and has a solid malty backbone; some notes of toffee. Flavor is quite malty, with a Smacks cereal flavor. The malts definitely own this one, the hops come through as a cameo but are subdued to simple earthy, sweet notes, nothing particularly notable. Medium bodied with moderate carb. This is a lesser fresh hop IPA. If they marketed the beer as a fresh hop ale, versus IPA, then maybe a little more like my tastes. As it is, it’s a decent enough brew, but know it is not your typical IPA at all. That being said, I don’t know the freshness of this either. Serving type: bottle 01-02-2012
2.7 Bottle to shaker glass. Pours a clear amber color. Nice nose of some citrus and floral notes. A bit more malty than I’d like for an IPA. Still, good flavors of floral hop flavors. Heavy malt backbone.
3.9 Pours a cloudy orange with a hint of ruby with a half a finger of slightly off white, slowly dissipating but not overly foamy head. Not much aroma, just a really faint hop smell. Despite the odor, surprisingly strong taste. Starting off with caramel taste, it then sort ends with a slight hop bitterness. This is actually a very well balanced beer, and the hops aren’t overwhelming but the flavor is quite good.
3.7 12oz bottle from Andersons in Sylvania. Deep amber pour with a good sized off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, biscuits and citrus. Tastes are bready, floral, grass, sweet malts, little earthy, light spices. Little oily, moderately bitter, easy drinking.
3.0 Average aroma of hops....mostly floral....hint of alcohol. Amber in color....darker than anticipated...tan head. First taste is a mixture of very sweet malt and hop bitterness. Malt is stronger than bitterness until the finish. Finish is a bit too long and overpowering.
3.4 Bottle, Willamette. Pour is golden to amber with thin white head. Aroma is floral hop with some grain. Taste is floral and grapefruit hops, roasted grain character.
3.5 Tap at the Bad Apple, Chicago. Poured a cloudy medium bet with a round white head and some lace. The aroma is big hoppy malt and dough. The flavour is medium bitter with a dry yeast liqourice slightly medicinal palate.
3.4 Draft sampled at The Bad Apple, Chicago. Pours cloudy amber brown with an off white head. Aroma of peppery saison yeast and caramel malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.5 Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Billed as Heavy Handed #2. Dark hazy copper pour. Slight tan foam head. Rich sugar plum flavors. Darkly sweet without being cloying so. Barley sugar. Burnt orange peels. Thick palate. Not overly complex, but a great combo.
3.4 Willamette. Dark Amber Color, Medium Head, Decent Lacing. Not much of aroma, very faint floral notes, barely traces of pine hop. Malty, Sweet, Pine, Hop Bitter. Medium Body, Wet Finish. Really Nice. Enjoyed It. Recommended. *** Centennial #2. . Dark Clear Copper Color, Medium Foamy Head, Decent Soapy Lacing. Faint Floral Hop Aroma. Malty, Sweet, Pine, Hop Bitter. Wet Finish. Really Nice. Enjoyed it. Recommended *** Cascade. Slightly Hazy Reddish Amber Color Medium Big Head, Light Web of Thin Lacing. Faint Hop Aroma. Sweet Malt, Light Pine, Resin, Hop Bitter. Medium Body, Wet Finish. Nice. Recommended....
2.8 Bottle. Pours a nice deep amber, decent head and retention. Nose is a big dose of floral hops, orange peel maltiness hiding behind it. Mouth is a decent bouquet of hoppy bitterness until the grainy malts kick in (typical of Two Bros.) and ruin an otherwise worthy effort.
2.9 Need more aroma and hop taste...beautiful appearance though..................
3.0 Poured on tap into a pint glass. Nice head with citrus and pine aroma. Typical bitterness of an ipa. Has a stale aftertaste that hangs around after each sip.
2.9 Nice sticky head over hazy amber body. Aroma of pine, grass, and oxidation. Taste of upfront bitterness and very oxidized. Full bodied and fairly clean otherwise. Palate not as bitter as expected, but that might be an age thing.
3.4 Lot 2552 - 12oz bottle poured into a tumbler glass. Cloudy amber appearance with a small beige head. Aroma of grassy and piney hops, a bit stale, and some caramel. Juicy hop flavors, though not super fresh, with sweet maltiness and med-hi bitterness. Some nuts and marmalade notes. Medium body, dry, pretty balanced and can be awesome when fresh.
3.6 Draft. Hazy amber color, medium white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, flowers. Taste is bitter grapefruit.
3.4 Orange pour, caramel malts, medium bitterness, orange peel, cruit forward flavor. More APA than IPA
3.9 Had it out of a bottle, poured well with a yellow head and long lasting lacing evenly around the glass. Notes of Caramell and malts lives up to its name heavy-handed.
4.7 Tasted from a 12 oz bottle. Poured a dark amber with hearty yellowish brown head and lasting lacing. Strong hop taste and aroma with some malt and caramel. A full bodied IPA.
3.5 Lot #2612 (Cluster - Field #1): Slightly hazy copper coloured body with an amber glow and a light ruby shine and a centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pine, resin and a bit of pineapple with some good malt note and a hint of nuts. Medium-bodied; Assertive resinous and syrupy feel with a lot of pine, pineapple, honey and a bit of earthy flavours. Aftertaste shows some nice hoppy flavours with a bit of syrup and honey, a little earth and a good balance of hops and malt - more like a traditional IPA and not like a West Coast IPA at all. Overall, a nice beer and definitely worth trying if you can find it - not overloaded with hops, but a good balance for sure and nice to sample. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$2.79 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 19-January-2013.
3.5 Very flavorful and fruity ipa. Good amount of hops to make it bitter. Really like this one
