2.4 A: Copper colored with minimal Head, I really like the look of this in the glass S: citrusy and floral smell, can smell the hop fragrance nicely, not too overpowering T: moderate bitterness, I liked that there was a nice malt presence to coincide with the bitterness. Too often there’s usually a tradeoff between one and the other. Fruit and floral notes come through. O: At 30 IBU it’s not an “extreme” IPA and it’s not trying to be. I like this beer if I want to have a few and don’t feel like being overwhelmed. It has a nice palate and a balanced flavor that I can appreciate. In the end, I would take a Domaine DuPage from the Two Brother’s Brewery over this one, it is only a few IBUs less and has a ton of flavor and character, but I still recommend this one as well. -BeerandWhiskeyHQ.com
3.9 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 1/12/2014. Pours moderately cloudy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange zest, toast, biscuit, light caramel, floral, grass, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange zest, floral, grass, toast, biscuit, light caramel, light pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Light floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, orange/lemon zest, floral, grass, toast, biscuit, light caramel, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of hop and malt flavors; with a great hop/malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pale ale. All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.5 A nice pale ale that I no longer seek out, but is still great to find at a party. Nothing about the beer is oft putting, but nothing really blows my mind either. Despite the name, it isn’t crazy bitter by any means, and has a nice light hop profile and light mouthfeel. It’s not flashy, but could be a good go-to depending on the drinker’s taste and what else is available.
3.3 Bottle. Copper with medium white head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops. Light body with not much of a malt body and some hop bitterness. A nice session beer.
3.4 Pours a medium golden color with a finger of foam. The nose is a tad strange and floral but also has a punch of honey toast and malt with bits of citrus and grass, The palate follows with clean balance and a highly drinkable palate. Touch of floral hay lingers making it a bit more interesting but also a little strange. Nice pale though.
3.3 Pours a golden amber with a thin white-tan head mostly dissipating. Nose is hoppy. Average creaminess. Taste is mostly hoppy on top of a backbone of malt. Not overly bitter despite its name, with a nice dry finish. A better than average Pale Ale that pairs well with chili and Tostitos.
3.5 citrus, hazy, minimal head, medium bitterness, lightly sour, soft carbonation, bitter, medium body. Drank this out of a bottle in a pint glass. I don’t like pale ales, typically but this is a good one. These guys know how to brew beer and I’m not just saying that because I’m from Chicago.
3.3 Bottle. Slight bitter hops and a bit of grapefruit. Light, slightly sweet with some malt at the end
4.0 Bottled, amber color with tree ring lace, excellent balance of malt and spicy pine , smooth malty finish , great APA
3.9 Had it at Honky Tonk BBQ in Chicago. Poured a thin white head with solid even lacing, and a murky amber hue. It has a subtle hop aroma and a malt hop bitter taste.
2.8 Draft at Khyber Pass. Clear copper pour. Head mostly disappeared. A reasonable impression of an English ESB but not particularly bitter otherwise. Medium-light malty brew with just a slight spicy hop bite towards the end.
3.6 Not bitter like I would expect from the name, but a very nice beer. Pours an amber color with a medium head and moderate lacing. Perfect carbonation. Aroma is piney and fruity and hops. Flavors are nicely sweet malty with fruit and a hoppy bitterness, but not too much. A well-balanced beer that I would be happy to drink again. Two Brothers offers some wonderful beers.
3.2 Clear, golden pour with a frothy off-white head. The aroma has caramel malt with some light citrus. It has a light, watery body with average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet to start, with a slightly bitter finish.
3.5 Deep Copper Color, Big Foamy Head Dissipates Quickly Decent Lacing. Faint Pine Aroma. Sweet malt, slight citrus, light hoppy bitter. Mild, easy to drink, refreshing. Rather nice and Tasty.
3.1 Hoppy aroma. Slight tartness, hints of citrus zest, hops, spice. A bit of earthiness with malty caramel and nut flavor beneath.
3.1 Bottle in Minneapolis picked up in Minneapolis. Pours a clear, dark orange appearance with a nice off white head. Spicy, somewhat dank, grapefruity, a bit floral hoppy aroma. Somewhat sweet, light caramel malty, dull citrus, grapefruity hoppy flavor. Alright.
2.5 Pours amber with perfect head! Nose is faint, some mild malty caramel. Very light body, bitter, nuts and chocolate flavors. Not bad.
4.0 Pours orange-red amber with a short, rough, beige head. Aroma is leafy, herbal, earthy, hops.. bark. Flavour is earth, leaves, dry hops , wood Tastes like a walk in the woods.... and that’s not a bad thing. Very good.
3.2 This pours a clear copper with a medium white head. I has a somewhat hoppy aroma. The taste is slight bitter and a little sweet. Light to medium body with a somewhat creamy texture and a slight bitter finish. Decent beer that I wouldn’t mind paying a reasonable price for in a bar.
3.2 Bottle from Wegmans. Pours translucent orange with a medium sized head that hangs around a bit. The aroma has more citrus than floral notes. There is some earthiness in there and maybe some light pine. The taste has more of that pinecone, grapefruit, and almost a dryness. There is a nearly bready note to it. Solid but not as good as the Headwaters that preceded.
3.2 Golden/copper pour with a thin off white head and thick striped lacing ... aroma is of biscuity and caramel malts with a light hint of citrusy hops .... taste is of biscuity and caramel malts, bitter citrusy hops, light hint of pine and has a decent bitter lingering dry finish ... subtle is right, not the best way to describe your beer, but hey at least they were honest
2.6 Pretty average, yet better than most standard pale ales. Didn’t hate it, but nothing special
2.9 Pours a clear golden orange with a frothy white head. Aroma is subtle with citrus notes. Taste is balanced up front but the middle to the finish is a bit sour. Neither here nor there.
3.6 Fresh aroma of floral, grass, citrus, and hops. Gold with a hint of orange color and nice frothy white head. Nice balance of sweet malt and some spicy hops...Kind of watery on the palate...but finishes with some sweet and a tiny bitter note. Very good APA.
3.6 Draft at Five Star. Pours orange and clear with medium white head. Floral aroma. Mild hops. Slight bitterness. Easy drinking and good beer
3.4 Overall a very easy drinking beer with a nice balance of hops and malt. Hops are light but add a nice note of banana and light citrus. A great beer to enjoy on a daily basis.
3.1 Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks solid; a transparent orange with off-white lacing. Smells of hops and pale malt. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Alright.
3.2 Very tasty pale ale from two brothers. This is a really bitter pale with a lot of flavor. Big fan of two brother
3.3 12oz bottle from Binny’s Lakeview. Pours a crystal clear, deeper golden, amber tinted body with a finger-width, frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has some citrusy florals with a light pine note as well as a lightly sweetened, somewhat bready caramel malt backing. Flavor is similar. Lightly sweetened, bready caramel malt backing with a good amount of citrusy florals. Grapefruits grow a bit towards the end as this finishes dry, clean, and somewhat piney with a medium bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a crisp, medium-light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an easy drinking, well made pale ale. Nothing crazy, but crisp, clean, balanced, and enjoyable.
3.4 Long Island, NY - 12 oz. poured a clear hazelnut color with slightly colored head. Small amount of lacing. Aroma is of hops, some citrus and some malts. Initially malts and inherent sweetness follow the foreshadowed bitterness. A beer that's true to its name.
