3.8 Thanks to Agnese, present from NL. Pours murky pale yellow with small bubbly top. Aroma of intens sweet fruits, melon, pineapple alike with touch of yeastyness. Taste is sweet, malty with medium bitterness, hoppy flavor is well complemented. Overall combo of malts and hops was very pleasant, seductive brew, very drinkable. Medium to full body, light dry finish. Medium, fuicy texture. Nice one!
3.5 Lemon aroma, pine resin. Straw in color, cloudy with a slight white foam. On the palate there are hops, resin, a little bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation.
3.7 A very very nice pale ale. Very neipa-like. Light to drink but big flavourful body. Tons of fresh tropical hop aroma. Top notch for the style. Albert heijn ams
3.1 0.33 l can from Amsterdam. Thanks, Dinko! Hazy golden, small off-white head. Moderately hoppy, citrusy, zest, malty, herbal, cardboard. Citrusy, malty. Refreshing, light body, moderate carbonation, light finish. Average.
3.0 Can 33cl. @home poured into a shaker. Clear pale amber colour, small moussy white head, mostly diminishing, thin layer remains, light lacing. Aroma pale malt, orange, caramel, bread. Mild taste, medium sweet and light bitter, malty, orange peel, passion fruit, light spicy notes. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, dry sweetbitter aftertaste, chaly, cardboard, spicy notes, not much character, average brew.
3.5 Sympa
2.2 Sabores cítricos, vaso
3.4 Sweet, lemony taste.
3.2 Bottle. Color: Clear golden, white head. Aroma: Malty, citrus, lemon, sourish. Taste: Malty, bread notes with refreshing citrus / lemon and a grassy hop background. Loght hints of butter. Medium body, average carbonation. Ok, but where is the funk?
3.1 Gelb Gold leicht trüb Feinporiger Schaum Geruch fruchtig Spritzig Zitronig Passt alles ganz gut zusammen und harmoniert vorzüglich.
3.4 Trübes Gelb, funky Geruch, etwas käsig. Im Geschmack schön hopfig etwas fruchtig herb, passt
3.2 0,33l Dose zusammen mit MBlessing. Sanft getrübtes hellgelbes Bier mit hellem Schaum. Cheesy Duft. Käse, Parmesan? Im Antrunk deutlich besser. Kräftig hopfig. Im Abgang dann auch Malz. Ganz ok.
3.5 Bottle from Albert Heijn supermarket in Gorinchem, The Netherlands. The beer is clear yellow/golden colored with a nice white head. Carbonation is good. The aroma is malts, oat, citrus, grass, lemon grass, light hops and spices. The taste is medium bodied and light sweet with grassy notes and malts, and goes to light hoppy bitterness with lemongrass and spices. The finish is light dry and long staying bitterness.
2.9 Blond bier met voldoende koolzuur. Geur mout, bloesem, tropisch fruit. Smaak mout, tropisch fruit, water. Dun wat wrang mondgevoel. Goede bitter in de nasmaak, beetje zoet en peper. Tja
3.5 Bottle from Sterk Amsterdam. Light hop, plenty of lemon, pleasant lightly dry finish. Nice session beer, good example of the style.
Goede koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht bitter.
3.1 Small white head over clear metallic copperish golden beer. Faintly hoppy, fruity, light green leaves, faintly peppery, fresh celeri (no doubt rather the lemongrass). Bitterish-hoppy, again these peppery hops. Chalk, soapy (idd...) and quite a bit oxidation. Light body, the hoppiness petering out. Feels better carbonated than it looks. Not ideal - supermarket purchased beer, hence?
2.9 An APA with lemongrass from this enthusiastic Amsterdam craft brewery - though the "funky" in the name lead me to believe that it could have been a Brett pale ale, wrongfully so, it seems. Longneck bottle from the Albert Heijn supermarket in Hulst. Snow white, mousy, frothy, quite thick head slowly breaking over an initially cristal clear, straw blonde beer with 'old gold' hue and a suspension of yeast bits throughout, and that is how it stays even with the sediment added to the glass. Aroma a bit lightstruck at first (ammonia-like mercaptans), slowly receding (yet never disappearing as it ought to) to unveil somewhat more flattering impressions of dried apple peel, old bread crust, moist white pepper, old dried out lemon peel rather than lively lemongrass, Cape gooseberry, straw bales, soggy chicken food, spoiled leek, hints of toasted garlic, old dusty 'herbes de Provençe', linseed, potato peel. Cleanish, crisp onset, subdued green apple, unripe banana, green pear and vague pineapple fruitiness but only restrainedly sweet, sourish undertone enhanced by lively carbonation, minerally, slick grainy pale malt sweetish core with thin white-bready edges, ongoing carbonation effects distracting from the actual flavour, until the hop component appears - bringing only soft 'end' bitterness, gently peppery and drying with some retronasal floral notes and a very mild old and dry lemongrass spiciness. Ends simple: cereally-grainy, moderately hop bitter and very lightly bready, with retronasal impressions of old dried herbs and some spoiled leeks. Clean, simple, boring and bland, this almost feels like a pale lager spiced up with hops, which remain altogether mild and have, more than anything, effected a nasty lightstruck effect, being the only "funky" aspect I could find in this beer. Granted, I should not have taken this from a bland and overexposed supermarket shelf and seeing other ratings here from trusted colleagues I clearly stumbled upon a sample in bad condition, but still... With a 'living' and fresh lemongrass factor and the right hops in the right proportions to support this, this could have been a fine modern pale ale, but in this form, it turns out to be boring, simplistic and even a bit unpleasant due to the mercaptans. This does not deliver at all what it promises - I have given up to find any true 'funkiness' in this beer meanwhile, but even as a so-called APA, this dramatically underachieves. Two Chefs may be commercially successful, to me they still have to brew their first truly great beer. This is what you get in Holland these days: cashing in on the hype, but lacking in experience, profundity and mere good taste. I would, however, give this non-APA a second chance if I would encounter it fresh from tap somewhere...
3.4 Bottle at Cafe Cuba in Amsterdam. Slightly hazy golden with a slim whitish head. Funky and fruity and lightly hopped. Light-medium bodied.
3.7 Kolor złoty, metny. Piana biała wysoka i długo trwała. Świeżo i rześko. Wysycenie średnie do wysokiego. Pełnia więcej niż średnia. Faktura płynu jest gładka i miękka.
3.3 33cl bottle from Beerwulf webshop. F: medium, white, not long lasting. C: gold, light hazy. A: malty, citrus, pine, bit caramel, tangerine peels. T: medium malty base, orange, bit caramel, toast, tangerine, mellow tropical fruits, decent bitterness, lower carbonation, ok another APA from Netherlands.
3.5 Lekker pilsje troebel blond. Weinig kraag.
2.8 Bottle from AH. Yellow with brief head. Piney lemon aroma. Hoppy start with bright grass and citrus but a dull finish. Eh
