1.0The beer I had was a year old, so take this review for what it’s worth. Very very bitter and little other discernible taste.
3.3Tap at the taproom July 30th. Notes are lacking in text. Decent/average IPA.
3.3Draft in Wisconsin, uncle mikes highway pub. Expecting more bitterness, fairly standard IPA, nothing extraordinary despite the cool name.
3.1Poured from bottle...i will be honest i bought because of the name...nose is malt and funk...hops is not present in flavor...i really expected more from this one...bitter woman made me a bitter man!
3.5Quite bitter, but delightfully so. Really good IPA. Caramel. Surprised not higher alcohol..
3.712 oz bottle pours amber with a white head. Aroma of malts ,floral and citrus. Taste is citrus and malts.
2.9Bottle in trade. Pours orange with white head. Aroma is mild hops, but strong malt sweetness. Taste is light, mild bitterness, sweet finish. Not my idea of an ipa.
4.0Reviewed from notes: Pours a nice lighter amber color with white head. Intense citrus and pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice bite.
3.1I am not a huge IPA guy but I found this one to be decent. Tap, orange/amber color with a small white head. Has a bitter caramel taste.
3.3Rated on 5-26-2010. This bottled beer pours a medium sized white head, transparent gold body, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is fruity, pine, bitter, and floral hops. The taste is bitter, fruity, pine and some citrus hos. The palate is lightly tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable, rather mild tasting for the style and worth trying,.
2.8Had it out of a bottle. It had a beautiful amber hue and thick white head and thats it. It has a wet basement aroma and a not so good bitter beer taste. Could have been paste its prime.
3.5Tasted from a12oz. bottle. It poured a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Had a hopped caramel aroma and a taste of malty hoppiness with a bitter finish.
3.2Bottle. Copper with some sediment. Malt and mild hops aroma. Oddly bitter but nice sweet finish.
3.2Pours a nice orange with white head and lacing. Sediment too. Aromas are pretty juicy and citrusy at first. Flavors are pretty bitter.. But I thought i thought it was a tad on the watery side.
3.3Clear deep golden/copperish pour with a thin soapy head and light sticky lacing .... aroma is of caramel malts and of light grapefruity/orange citrusy hops ..... taste is mildly bitter and of citrusy grapefruity/orange hops along with caramel malts ... finish is dry and bitter hopped with a lingering bitter bite .... average ipa
3.8pours clear copper with smallish white head. grapefruit aroma. taste is crisp, but bold and hoppy bitter. Long hoppy nasal finish. A really good IPA.
2.8Part of a mix your own sixer. Might have been a bit old, but the hops weren’t what I like. Musty aroma and muddled malt/bitterness.
3.212 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a darker copper with lots of chunks floating in it and a beige head of foam. The aroma has pine and grapefruit. Mild sweetness with a drying bitter finish.
3.9Draught pint, Sugar Maple, Milwaukee viii/23. More than solid light sessioning IPA, just like its origin midway between West coast citrus zest and more floral, herbal overtones, still Cascade, not Simcoe bitter. Dry malt backbone.
3.5(tap) amber with white head. Citrus hops aroma. Flavor is some malt, hints of fruit, citrus and resiny hops.
3.5On tap. Pours a golden copper in color with an off-white head that stuck around and left lace. Bold citrus hop aroma with some floral and malt notes mixed in. Big citrus hop flavor with a bit floral as well. Nice toasty, biscuit, caramel malt backbone that falls short of balancing it out. Body is medium and well carbonated.
3.6Hazy orange, great lasting head. Aroma sweeter. Taste not as sweet as expected. Sweet briefly, then into a moderate bitterness with a nice bready malt balance. Not bad.
3.4Nicely amber color, citrus and malt aroma. Good medium body and citrusy punch, solid all around ipa.
3.0Some citrius, bit of bitter. Very light, too light for my taste. Below average ipa.
3.512 oz bottle from De Bierkoning @ home (bottled 1 Feb. 2013). Clear amber color. Off white head with short retention. Aroma upon opening the bottle: resinous & cirussy, but only shortly so. In the glass there’s earthy hops, some roast/toast and a hint of tropical fruit. Retronasal there’s sweet fruit, earthy hops, herbal. Flavor is (strangely enough) rather sweet but with a decent bitterness for balance. Body is medium. Finish is long and rather bitter. Interesting interpretation of the style, but actually quite nice.
3.4A - Citrusy nose, also a surprising amount of malt and sweetness in the bouquet A - Nice golden, color; minimal head, disappears quickly T - More citric bitterness then suggested by the nose, almost tangy P - Thin body, lively carbonation, slightly oily finish O - Well done, fairly simple IPA, quite tasty. Perhaps a bit less complex than a truly spectacular IPA. 12oz bottle.
3.6Draft at the brewpub. Medium copper tone with a thin top. Very nice middle of the road American pale ale example, tangy and citric, another candidate for a go-to daily quaff. (#5100, 7/2/2013)
3.8Bottle. Pours clear amber, medium off white head, nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, resin. Flavor is the same, light sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body, oily mouthfeel.
