4.2Draft. From notes. Loads of orange and grapefruit dominate. Long bitter finish. Very good.
3.5Pours a copper color with a thick, lasting head. Aroma is minimal with just hints of bread and citrus. Taste has more of a bitter start that I expected from the aroma. The malt and citrus bring some sweetness to balance the hops before a nice, bitter finish. Overall a pretty classic English / East coast IPA profile with a touch of citrus added just like the label says.
3.3Beautiful copper color, lots of citrus aroma and bitterness, very full flavor on a very light body, very interesting combination.
3.7Tap at New Bohemia. Really attractive copper color with a limited amount of head. Very fresh taste. Sweeter than expected bit with ample hops. Surprisingly not as citrusy as I thought. A smooth option with a pretty solid finish. Kind of your standard IPA. If nothing better on your way to the US on some old school pilgrim boat, this is OK.
3.7On tap at The Free House Pub. Amber color. White head. Citrus and floral aroma and taste. A good mix of orange and pine hops with enough malt to keep things drinkable. Dry and bitter finish. Lingering hop flavor.
3.5Pours a unique peach tinged light amber, with a brief white head. Aroma is slightly citrus. Flavor is also unique... IPA with orange peel instead of grapefruit. Dry, slightly bitter and bright. Pleasant surprise. (What food to pair?)
3.9Amber pour with a nice off-white head. Nice citrus nose. Big citrus hops in the taste with a huge bitter citrus finish. This is an excellent way to prevent scurvy.
3.6A decent ipa from tyrannical. Nicely bitter and easy to drink. Pours a dark orange in color. Has a live bitter fruity finish. Had at ba apple.
3.5No aroma on an ipa? Really? Flavor is nice with orange peel rind. Thin fading head good mouthfeel. Light citrus flavor on back of mouth with medium. Bitterness good beer.
4.0Clear light golden with a big fluffy off-white head. Love the orange peel here. medium body. Lots of delicious orangeyness. Greatfruit. Really tasty. Pleasant moderate bitterness. Need to have this again soon.
3.4Rated on 6-04-2010 (Bottle) This beer pours a small ivory head that mostly diminishes, golden body, visible carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt and citrus hops. The taste is mildly bitter, caramel malt, crisp, and citrus hops. This beer has a semi-dry finish. The palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, upfront citrus hops in the aroma and flavor. It is worth trying and refreshing on a summer day.
3.4Tasted from a 12oz. bottle. It poured a hazy amber with a white, quickly dissipating head. Aroma of hops with orange and hints of lemon. Taste is a nice mix of bitter hops and sweet citrus fruitiness.

An IPA brewed with orange peel could suggest a cross-pollination of styles, but in reality, the orange peel is a perfect companion to this complex IPA. Prominent notes of earth, pine, tea and grapefruit combine with the orange peel and toasty, mildly sweet, caramely malts to create a unique flavor profile in a crowded field, a feat in itself. The intensely aromatic nose is redolent of pine and earth with balanced notes of sweet caramel and leather. Full-bodied on the palate, but this was evident even as the beer was being poured into the glass. Crisp bitterness and a very dry mouthfeel from entry to finish. Dark-amber in color with pristine clarity and an inch-tall head that is light-tan in color and settles to a wide ring over time. Overall, Scurvy is full-flavored yet balanced, a bold IPA.
3.9Rich copper coloured body with a bright amber and orange coloured tint and a nice two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright grassy and citrus hops with some oranges, malt and alcohol noticeable. Medium-bodied; Assertive piney and grapefruity hops with a lot of oranges noticeable and a pungent blood orange bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows a nice blend of fresh hops, malt, alcohol and a robust citrus and orange flavour with a bit of sweetness. Overall, a very well-made fruited IPA with not too much fruit flavours and still a great level of hoppiness, with a well balanced malt profile. Definitely worth sampling if you can find this! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Binny’s in Chicago (South Loop), Illinois on 21-August-2013 for US$1.67 sampled at home in Washington on 16-January-2014.
4.4Every IPA talks about there citrus smell and flavor, this one has both big time. This is a nice IPA, one of my favorites!
3.4Pale copper pour with a thin creamy head and thick striped sticky lacing .... Aroma of citrusy bitter orange peel and light piney hops along with some caramel malt ... taste is very bitter and of citrusy orange hop, some light piney hops, caramel malt, kinda overcarbonated on the mouthfeel end ... Finish is fizzy and dry hopped... Average ipa
3.6Bottle. Pours clearish copper color with a good finger of off-white head. Aroma is orange citrus & floral hops. Flavor is a bit malty, but the bitter orange citrus and piney hops balance it out well. Nothing out of this world, but it works pretty good.
2.9Deep orange, medium head - not much aroma. Easy drinking, get the orange in the aftertaste - just a average ipa IMO.
3.7Bottled 5/1/12. Old bottle. Poured 8/26/13. Amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, caramel, pine, grass, fruity. Maltier than it probably should be, but that’s the age on it. Taste is dry, citrus, spicy, bread, orange, peel (really comes through), caramel; finish is pretty subtle, orange peel. Some really nice lacing. Medium carbonation. Mouth feel is wet, slick. At over 15 months old, a good amount of the hops has fallen off. That being said, it’s tasty and even refreshing. Still highly drinkable. Would love to try a fresh one.
3.7Draft at Greenbush Bar. Pours a clear gold with an inch of soft, frothy white head. I had no idea this was brewed with orange peel and my first note is that there’s an underlying orange citrus character that becomes more pronounced as it warms. They get that right for sure. Some perfume notes on the nose. Light-bodied, with a smooth mouthfeel that has soft carbonation and some bitterness on the finish. Nice, refreshing IPA.
3.7Nearly clear copper to hazelnut pour with a 1 finger, off white head. Aroma is sweet fruity and floral citrus, light pine, light grapefruit, toast, caramel, toffee, grass and biscuit. Flavor is deep caramel, some toffee and biscuit up front giving way to hay, planty hops, lots of sweet and bitter citrus, grass, pine, toast and fruity yeast. Medium body, off dry throughout and lightly carbonated. Good stuff, nice example of a complex, but citrus and caramel forward IPA.
3.0Draft. The pour is a faint orange. The aroma is mostly mild hops. The taste I don't much orange from until the very end. A little too bitter.
3.4On tap at the brewpub. Comes a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and malt. Taste is oranges, grapefruit, and malt. Not to complex, but very drinkable.
3.3Pours a pale, clear orange with a finger of lingering white head. Smell is mandarin oranges, bready malt, and citrusy hops. Tastes like somebody put a clementine orange into my beer, grassy hops, decent pale malt backbone. Not particularly complex but fairly refreshing.
3.2Bottle with Keith. Dated April, so 3 months old...pours copper with small clearish white head, not much lace. Notes of old hops, copper, vanilla, cheese, rye and lots of sweet malt. This might have been good a couple months ago...might have.
3.7Pours orange with a thin off-white head. Citrusy aroma with orange and grapefruit notes. Hoppy flavor with some dankness. The initial flavor is oranges then the grapefruit comes in at the finish. Crisp clean mouthfeel with moderate to high carbonation. The finish is fairly dry with just a slight residual hoppiness lingering on the back of the tongue.
3.4Bottle. Pours orange with some head. Decent hops flavor blended with oranges, very refreshing ipa.
3.5Draft at the brewpub. I’d say it’s a half shade darker than their Bitter Woman IPA. Side by side, I’d say this also a bit heavier in mouthfeel, but has about the same citric acidity, pleasant enough drink ability. (#5102, 7/2/2013)
4.2Pours a copper orange with lasting white head and great lacing. Aroma is citrus hops with orange zest as expected. Not out-of-this-world, but it works well. Taste is even better. It starts out sweet up front with a full malt flavor, but only for a few seconds. Just before it gets too cloying, the fruity citrusy hops cut through with some great bitterness. Some dankness comes through to keep things from being too resiny, but the bitterness remains there through the dry finish. Really balanced. Every time I worried it would go south, it redeemed itself with control and balance. Flavorful and full. Much different than my other high-rated IPAs, but this is deserving of it’s high scores.
2.9Bottle @ Greg’s house picked up in the Midwest. Pours a clear dark orange appearance with a thin khaki head. A bit goopy orange citrusy, somewhat sweet, a bit herbal aroma. Somewhat syrupy, a bit goopy, orange fruity, fairly malty flavor. Bleh.
