3.7Pours clean straw gold with one finger of off white head. Nose is nice and grassy with some floral notes and a lightly citric character and malty sweetness. Zesty and citrusy hop character, notes of fresh cut grass and hay with a medium bitterness.
3.2Golden yellow pour with an off white head. Aroma is malty with a little spice. Taste is malt backbone with a spice hp balance, nice lacing.
3.2Pours a clear orange with thin white head. Aroma is pleasantly hoppy and refreshing. Taste, however, leaves much to be desired. Not enough balance and too thin on the palate.
3.2Bottle. Sweet-sour orange malt aroma. Golden yellow color with moderate head. Mildly sweet orange malt and moderately bitter orange peel flavor. Nice.
2.9bottle - This brew hasw an off-white head and suspended yeast particles that look like sand. It has a rather grainy, underwhelming mildly bitter flavor and a light to medium body. It’s okay, but this brewer can do better.
2.8Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed on a September Saturday afternoon while doing some cleaning. Appearance a cloudy gold, tons of yeast sediment floating around with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma not really too apparent, maybe a touch of hops, but in a way it smells like a wet dog which is definitely unexpected. Taste is slightly sour which is not good for the style, also a bit of bitterness. Not really feeling this one.
3.0Tap at the brewpub in Lake Mills, WI. Clear yellow pour with a thin white head. Grain and grassy/citrus hop nose. Medium palate with some carbonation. Taste is grain and grassy hops.
3.6@Victors Fantasy Tasting-12oz bottle-pours an off white head and slightly hazy gold color. Aroma is sweet light/medium malt, resin. Taste is sweet light/medium malt, resin/herbal hops with some bite.
3.1Bottle thanks to Victor at Paul’s. Pours gold. White head. Nose/taste of sweet and pale malts, pine and light hops. Medium body. Clean. Dryish finish.
3.1Bottle at Victor’s bracket box tasting at Paul’s. Pours a clear orange amber with a thin white head. Soft hops, musk and toast. Slight malt and toast, oxidized and bitter.
3.512 oz. bottle from Woodman’s Madison
Ar: Mildly hoppy aroma with a bit of citrus and a good deal of grassy hops. Caramel malt is also prevalent.
Ap: Pours a light copper with orange streaks. 1/2" head dissipates quickly and leaves little lace.
T: Quite a bit of caramel malt sweetness up front, more than is typical for this style. Mild hop bittering on the finish rounds this out nicely.
P: Medium-thin body, medium carbonation.
O: This gets a bonus point for sessionability. It would be easy to drink and enjoy 5-6 of these in an hour or two. It’s simple, but there isn’t anything "off" in here. Nice effort, and a nice change of pace from the IPA’s that I love so much.
3.012 oz bottle. Amber pour, white head. Citrus, caramel malt, hops, and sweetness. Nothing too exciting, on the malty side.
2.4Appearance: orange with a puffy pithy head. Laces up with nice chunks of puff hovering atop her glittering depths.
Nose: orangey, citrusy, grassy, and mangoey. Grass lurks in the back while honey mingles with the orange. Green underneath.
Palate: smooth with oranges and an underlying sweetness of orange honey. Medium body. A dry finish with grass and hop resins. A bit sticky with the mouthfeel she lingers long in the middle with a brief start and short finish. Orange rind adds to the dry bitter finish. Mango freshly sliced and juicy finds her way to the middle where she has good company in freshly sliced oranges. Simple and refreshing with just a dab of toast upon which her other flavors preside.
Final Thoughts: one of Tyranena’s better offerings but not the greatest by far. A so-so pale ale she was assertive in her flavor profile which was unfortunately rather one-dimensional. Okay, but there are other pale ales out there I would rather quaff given the choice.
3.512 oz. bottle from Woodman’s in Madison, WI. Pale orange pour with a short off-white head. Aroma of light floral and grassy hops mixed with sweet caramel malts. Lightly bitter hopped flavor of grass and pine needles. Underwhelming yet drinkable and pleasant. I’ve come to expect many of the great APAs to be darn close to IPAs but there’s certainly nothing wrong with this being less than that. Overall this is a good American Pale Ale.
3.6The Stone Tepee has an orange/yellow appearance. The aroma is quite hoppy, and the hops are somewhat floral. The taste is a good mixture of sweet and sour. It’s kinda citrusy as well. The palate is great; substantial and full, but not harsh. Once again, another excellent beer from Tyrannena!
3.1On draft from brewery, pours clear golden with little or no whtie head to it, it does lace nice through out the glass, has slight aroma of hops but you really have to try, flavor is fairly bland but is still decent.
4.0Pours pale gold and clear with very little snow white head. Apprears to have low carbonation. Nose if of citrus and some earthy hops. Light caramel aroma and no esters. no evidence of dry hops. Taste backs up the nose. Bitterness cleans off the palate in the end and does not linger. This is a wonderful example of an APA. Way underrated!
2.712 oz bottle. Pours clear amber gold with a minimal fizzy head that doesn’t last long. Aroma seemed pine and malt, hardly any hop notes. Taste was medium to light bitter. Palate had a light body with light to medium slick texture. Light and fizzy. Finish was mildly bitter. Over all not great. Pretty weak even for an American Pale Ale. Like all beers, its at least worth trying once.
2.2This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a typically carbonated transparent yellow orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The aroma was musty and mild hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of wood and mild hops. An OK brew just nothing special.
3.1Bottle. Pours a clear golden amber with an off-white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma is pretty sweet with a biscuit and grainy nose with underlying grassy hops. Flavor is more nicely balanced with a bit of floral and grassy hops combining nicely with the biscuits and sweet grains on the tongue.
3.0Not a bad beer, but certainly not a pillar of awesomeness either. Its a an easy drining American pale lae that does offers some nice hop flavor and finishes refreshingly bitter and crisp. I nice one on a hot day. I don’t think this beer is trying to be anything other than an honest American pale ale and in that regard it is a success. If you want an easy drinking pale ale that you can put down down without thinking about it then this beer makes sense.
2.9Bottle. Fruity, very juice hop aroma with some pine. Some dusty almost honeyish notes, peach and apricot. Brilliant golden pour is clear with a large rocky white head. Light but lasting bitterness, honeyish with crackery, bready notes. Very full body and a little bland.
3.112 ounce bottle-blond pour-white head-aroma and taste of sweet, citrus, -nice hop bitter finish
3.7bottle thanks to Madvike, pours deep gold, tall frothy white head. Aroma is strong grass and hay with light pine hop notes. Flavor is rich bready malts and a nice kick of herbal hops finishing nice and dry. Solid.
3.3Aroma is of hay and grasses with some sweet bread quality. Appearance is a clear yellow, gold color with mild white head. Tastes is bitter with strong carbination with some sweet-sour hints. Overall it is a solid pale ale.
3.0Bottle. Pours a golden body with a white head. Grassy earth toned body with some light cracker, and pines notes. Medium light mouthfeel with some grain and citric hop tones. Simple session ale.
3.2Amber colored pour with smell of hops and citrus. Beer is smooth flavored with ohops and citrus. Nice lacing on the glass, flavor of oranges stands out more. Good ale, looking forward to trying more of their beers.
3.6On draft at the brewery day before DLD 09. Pours a clear golden copper with a medium white head. Aroma of bitter hops, grassy notes and sweat socks. Taste of bitter hops, grass and wet hay.
3.3Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. The look is clear, golden in color, with a whitish head. The smell is hops, malts, caramel, citrus, nice florals, and fruits. The taste is decent bitterness, malts, hops, and caramel.
