Uerige Sticke

Uerige Sticke

Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today’s fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn’t negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

3.8 Pours a rich copper colour with a thin head. Aroma of caramel and toffee, faint notes of leather. Rich and smooth malts, caramel and toffee, faint spices. Improves as it gets warmer. Low carbonation.
4.3 Bottle (6.0% ABV) from House Of Trembling Madness. Clear ruby/brown body with a thin beige head that fades. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of toffee, earth, coffee and dried leaves. Flavour of caramel, copper and a hint of chocolate. Medium body with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. This is fantastic. It has great depth of flavour and is very moreish.
3.2 Pullo @ Alko (6,0%). Kaatuu lasiin tummanruskeana ja hieman valoa läpäisevänä, noin 2,5 sormen paksuisella saippuamaisella vaahdolla. Tuoksussa on vahvaa pähkinäisyyttä, sokeria, hiven paahdettua mantelia ja hieman saippuaista tai voimaista hedelmäisyyttä. Maku on hyvin pähkinäinen, paahdettuna ja raakana. Lisäksi hedelmää on selvästi, etenkin luumumaisuutta, leipäisyyttäkin löytyy. Suutuntuma on melko napakan katkeroinen ja hiilihappoinen, hyökkääväkin, mutta mielenkiintoinen. Hyvin pähkinäinen vahva alt, aina yhtä erikoisia ja omalaatuisia tuttavuuksia.
4.7 One of the unfailing consistencies of the beer world. Leathery. Malty. Peppery hops. Delicate spicy notes. Perfect balance. Gorgeous copper pour with a sticky resilient head. Uerige Sticke Alt. Cannot be beat at its game.

4.0 Bottle (11.2 oz). Pours bronze with light tan head. Raisin, caramel, and bread crust aroma. Bready malt gives way quickly to fresh plums before transitioning to raisins in the long finish. Medium-full body.

3.3 Flip top bottle 330ml (Alko Web) Dark ruby colour, medium-sized beige head and some lace. Raisiny, sweet, malty aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Caramalt, raisins, some breadyness in the flavour. It has kind of ESB character even. Ok.
4.0 0.33 l swing-top bottle from Alko Ympyrätalo, Helsinki. Brown, clear, big head. Opened with a bang. Like a strong bitter or winter warmer. Well balanced. There might have been a hint of raisins.
3.3 Bottle 330ml at home. From Alko. Pours dark brown reddish with tan head. Aroma and taste have malts, caramel, dried fruits, sugar, bread. Medium body, average carbonation, bitter malty finish.

3.6 Pours a dark reddish clear color, with lots of chunks in it with a huge head that stays. Aroma is cheese, malt, caramel, bitter, floral, dark fruit, herbal. Taste is very mild, light caramel malts, slight funky cheese, bitter floral hops and stonefruit cores. Such an interesting style and I love it every time.
4.0 Dark copper with an off-white head. Sweet malty aftertaste, distant caramel. A decent bitterness to balance it. Good.
3.5 Hoppy for a German beer, lots of malt and hay and lighter grain flavors. Some sugar, fruit like citrus.
3.6 Sampled on tap at Industry, pours a reddish brown with a beige top and nice lace. Notes are plum, smoke, dark fruit, light hops, fig, and other caramel malts. Medium to fuller bodied. Rich and layered. Enjoyable for the style.
3.8 Bottle. Color: Dark copper, off-white head. Aroma: Malt, subtle caramel. Taste: Malty and hoppy, subtle caramel, lightly herbal. Moderate to medium sweet, moderate bitterness. Notes of grass, hay, bread, subtle dried dark fruit. Orange peel hints. A lot more of different flavours than an original Alt beer. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Pretty smooth and dense mouthfeel. Bittery finish. Nice.
3.6 33cl bottle thanks to @rauchbierlover. Pours murky brown with beige head. Aroma is malty, hay and apple cores. Malty taste and bitter finish.
3.2 $4.80 can, Wine Warehouse. Pours murky brown with a small beige head. Aroma is musty basement, earth, hay, brown grass. Flavor is hose water, dust, brown grass, grain, mineral water. Interesting.
3.2 02.03.2015, 0,33l bottle @ home: Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, caramel malts, raisins, grass, butterscotch, nuts, minerals, hay, alcohol. Taste is slightly dry, weeds, alcohol, minerals, grass, caramel malts, minerals, weeds, nuts. Longlasting bitterness, slightly harsh boozy mouthfeel. Fair enough.
3.4 Bottle at Holy Craft Beer Bar, Düsseldorf. Thick caramel malt aroma with a touch of tobacco, a hint of figs, more dried fruits, and toffee. Medium sweet and mildly bitter flavour. Body is medium. Pretty rich, beautiful malt.
3.7 Butelka. Bardzo przyjemny aromat chlebowo-chmielowy. W smaku podobnie, chlebowo, karmelowo i ziołowo.
3.6 Bottle from Londis, Knighton. Light brown, translucent with a thick beige head. Light malty aroma, bitter chocolate, a touch of forest floor and orange peel. Lovely balanced taste: there's an initial sweetness almost immediately challenged by an earthy hop. Gentle bitterness in the finish. Full body, heavily carbonated. Very good.
4.1 Clear, chestnut color. Medium sized, off-white head. Malt, bread, dried fruits and grass in the aroma. Mild sweetness in taste with pleasant herbal bitterness at the end. Great beer.
4.1 Bottle ( Swing Top ) Virtually black appearance. Welcoming Malty aroma followed by a lovely malty medium body which is quite smooth and well rounded. The label said 6 per cent not 6.5 per cent. First of this style I have tried for some time and it was very nice.
3.5 Hazy copper body with a small, vanishing, white head. Malty aroma: caramel, ripe plum, some banana. Taste is malty sweet again, with a slightly bitter finish. Medium to dull body, soft carbonation, thin texture
