Ugly Duck Miami Vice

Ugly Duck Miami Vice

Crockett and Tubbs were to the drug world of Miami the same as the hops in this beer - a means to balance tings out. In the beers case the fresh citrussy hops balances the grains and gives you a sense of calm. A sense of what pale ales used to be under the sun, of good times and careless days.
This is a tribute to the series that ran from 1984-1990 and what can we say about Miami Vice that hasn’t already been said, except that it is the greatest TV show ever made in the history of television.

3.0 Aus der Flasche im 2017-10 getrunken. Schön erfrischendes APA mit einer ganz leichten Note von Dosen Pfirsiche. Das Hopfenaroma ist moderat und angenehm.
3.5 Hazy amber, offwhite froth. Fruity, piney aroma. Some caramel. Bitter flavour, grapefruit, a little passionfruit, pine. Light with lasting bitterness.
3.7 Orange golden with big white head; aroma is hop forward, citric, grapefruit, pine, some caramel sweetness; taste is hoppy, pine, citrus fruits, resinous, some malty sweetness, medium bitter finish; texture is creamy and a little oily with medium carbonation; great beer
3.4 Bottle from taxfree, SAS flight. Dark amber, beige head, lacing. Burnt sugar/knäck, malty, grapefruit, lemon + citrus peel, something tropical, maybe a slight nuttiness.
3.4 12 ounce bottle from an Irma. Dark orange color with some malt and light citrus. Ok.
3.4 Bottle. Clear amber color With medium creamy White mostly lastning head. Heavy hoppy aroma. Sweet and bitter flavor.
3.2 Orsted tap: pours deep gold with a white head. Aroma is malty and plenty fruity. Taste is fruity and lightly bitter. Not super interesting.
3.2 Bottle. Very nice and fresh fragrance. Very good hops. It is good balanced not too much or less. But after a half bottle it got a bit to dry. I would buy one again but don’t think I would be drinking two of them in a row.
3.5 Orange coloured beer with a medium creamy head. Aroma is dominated by hops. Flavor is hops, citrus and some grass notes. Medium palate.
3.4 Off white to beige medium sized creamy dense medium long lasting head. Beer is amber orange murky. Aroma is dominated by fruity hops. Sweet Mango, Gras and a hint of pine. Taste is as expected hoppy fruity medium to strong bitter. No sweetness. Medium to long finish. Texture is creamy watery, carbonation is medium soft. It’s a good refreshing beer. Though considered the price you’ll find more interesting beers.
2.6 Hazy colour, a mess between brown and orange. Bitter taste not very fruity. Not a very impressive beer.
2.5 33 cl. bottle @ Home. Aroma: not very intense aromas. Hints of malts, spices, caramel, grains, hay. Appearance: pretty amber-orange color with quite above average head thickness. Slightly off-white head with above average retention and low-to-none Brussels’ lacing. Hazy. Taste: medium sweetness, low-to-medium bitterness, very low sourness. Flavors of malts, caramel, fruits. Very light hints of citrus, grapefruit. Palate: light body, watery-to-oily texture, low carbonation, under average finish duration of malts, caramel, grains, biscuits, some fruits. Overall: i didn’t like this beer very much, but i think maybe this bottle was mishandled, because i couldn’t find the hallmarks of the style in the beer. I’ll have to try it another one and see if it was a problem with this particular bottle. The appearance was quite nice, but the aroma was very weak and the flavor not very strong. I’ve found more taste of malts than hops, and it should be the opposite for this kind of beer.
3.7 0.33l bottle. Looks quite nice this with a near glowing peach orange cloudy body under a medium sized slowly fading off-white sidesticking head. Lovely nose with lots of wet peaches, (I’m actually eating a peach as I’m drinking this, and it’s really peachy - all around!), lots of pine cones, some slightly darker tones of dark biscuits and red berries. Smells really fresh and inviting. Shockingly nice for a 4.8 percenter. Tastes really nice also. Lots of flavor. Some unwanted buttery tones in between all the piney hops and red berries perhaps, but it’s not disturbing. It feels light oily in the mouth and it’s about average on the bubbles. A little marmalade sweet and bitterness as you near the finish here. Quite nice and refreshing this. 18.07.2014
3.8 O K. Euphorisiert getrunken. Früher geiler...neues Rezept!?😉 ...schon wieder....SPRING BEER DAY HH...vom Fass....8/3/7/4/16 Beton, der Kaktus & The Malty Bitter Affair. Anderes Rezept? More Vegetables? 🙌 ...passe erneut an ;)...
3.7 0.33 bottle. A hazy, light brown color and a large, creamy, white head. Aroma of wet hops, exotic fruits, pines, soap, and a tad of malty straw. Taste is maltier though still with a dominating presence of hops; bitterness is above medium, and it is fruity rather than malty sweetness which provides the delicate counter. A medium body, a somewhat creamy texture, and an average carbonation. Finish is medium long and less bitter though by no means less hoppy. Overall quite a nice beer though perhaps more in line with IPAs than APAs.
2.7 Bottle. Hazy orange colour with white head. Aroma of hops, malt, grapefruit, soap, pine. Flavour is sweet with notes of caramel, fruits, grapefruit, pine needles ending in a moderate to heavy bitter finish. It’s ok, but not more than that..
2.8 Decent. Not too hoppy, fairly sharp carbonation. Not much aftertaste. Fairly thin body.
3.0 Bottle at The Sense. Red to amber. White head. Watery, grapefruit flavour. Light bitterness. Medium to thin body. Medium carbonation.
3.1 0.33l Bottle at home. Nose: hoppy, slightly metallic (not sure if it’s from the beer or glass), some malt sweetness. Taste: bitter hops, piny, light body. Refreshing.
3.5 Afrutada y cítrica en aroma Buen aspecto carbónatacion correcta En boca balanceada caramelo final seco y resinoso
3.3 Kindly shared in line during the Blåbaer release. Pours slightly cloudy copper. Lightly hoppy aroma and taste with hay, grass, some biscuity sweetness, floral hops and light citrus.

3.6 Fresh on tap. Aroma of pine needles, herbs, sweet orange, tropical fruits and discrete bready malt. Pours orange golden with a small white head. Taste is medium bitter and medium sweet. Medium body, oily mouthfeel, average carbonation and a bitter finish of pine and drying grapefruit. I enjoyed this.
3.7 Tropical fruit and citrus aroma. Light foamy head and good clarity. Well balanced and nice bitterness for a pale ale. Light mouthfeel and good drinkability.
3.3 Malty aroma, sour caramel with a very small hint of pine. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Very balanced taste, bitter and sweet, bitter finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Pretty long. I quite enjoy this.
3.7 Copenhagen 21/5 29016. 33 cl bottle from Irma. Slightly old bottle (best before 20/5). Fancy sports car on very pink label. Truly in the spirit of the TV-series from 1980s. Pours slightly hazy amber with white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is sweet with exotic fruit but with distinct bitter sour citric notes. Light carbonation and slightly thick palate. Taste is distinctly bitter with only subdued sweetness. A little fermented fruit and good bitterness in the aftertaste. Fine bitter brew even though I could imagine that Sonny and Rico would prefer a cocktail.
3.5 Pours slightly cloudy copper. Qrome is slightly hoppy, with a malt balance. Taste is hoppy, but not too much. American hops.
3.4 Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 18B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown (BBF 04.02.2016). AROMA: moderate hop notes with fruity character (tropical fruits) that disappear, remaining a slight sweet and caramelly malt aroma, with faint pine and resin notes. APEPARANCE: light amber color and clear. moderate ivory head with good retention. TASTE: like the aroma, moderate hop flavor with pine and resin notes. almost clean malty background with faint toffee-like character. medium-high bitterness that lingers beyond a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium-low carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: an APA that exceeded its best before date, so with more muted hop presence but still with a lot of its characteristics.
3.4 330ml bottle. Cloudy amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Citrusy hoppy aroma, notes of lemon, lemon tea, minimally sugary, pale malty background. Taste is moderately bitter hoppy, citrusy, notes of lemon, lemon tea, a touch of lime and peppermint; minimally watery interludes. Nice.
3.8 En fantastisk IPA. Tilpas med humle og bitterhed. Noget kedeligt udseendde, men smagen...
