Uinta Crooked Line Cockeyed Cooper

Uinta Crooked Line Cockeyed Cooper

Launch into the exquisite flavors of bourbon with splashes of vanilla. Watch for currents of dark chocolate and dried fruit. Generous amounts of hops and malts make for a smooth journey from start to finish. Decadent desserts and aged cheeses make superb companions.

4.4 Delicious barley wine with amazing vinious aroma with loads of dried fruits, caramel and vanilla notes and with a touch a lightly roasted malt. The taste is fantastic as well. Lots of sweetness but a good amount of bitterness in the finish adds balance and as does the alcohol though. Though very high in alcohol it does in no way become dominant or unpleasant. Very well balanced in both aroma and taste and thus a fantastic beer in my opinion.
3.6 bomber from sb. brown hazy. almondy toffee, some chocolate, coffee even on nose. light yeasty, feels even belgian at times. fully bodied, smooth, quite easy. some green hoppyness in finish. feels american strong aley. so clean. though has that barley winey almondynes. light buttery finish. ok.
3.6 650ml bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy amber, solid and lasting head, good lacing. Caramel malty aroma, sweet vanilla and oak barrels. Medium to full bodied, silky and mid-sweet mouthfeel. Resinous and caramel taste, pine bitterness and sticky figs. Alcohol is well hidden.
3.8 Beer tasting @ Jorn69, 28/6-17. Bottle from Systembolaget. Dried fruity with caramel, toffee, dill and pine needles, also notes of bourbon. Body is medium, the finish is bitter and sweet with caramel, toffee and dill.
3.8 Tasting @ Jorn69 20170627. Bottle (330 ml) from Systembolaget. Malty, hoppy and caramely, dried fruits, bourbon, dill, woody notes, sweet, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry, bitter and hoppy.
3.7 Bottle from systembolaget. Pours a amber colour beer with a medium head. Caramel and malty with chocolate, dried fruits and hops. Also some strange dill flavour. Dry finish.
3.7 Mahogany color, large beige head. Sweet aromas of dried fruits, syrup, candy sugar, wood, bourbon, vanilla and malt. Bittersweet taste with malt, dried figs, bourbon, alcohol, wood, candy sugar and hops. Bitter finish. 8-4-7-3-15.
3.8 Uinta did good with this one it’s a bourbon barrel aged barley wine ale. Plenty of malty bourbon flavor, would recommend.
3.0 [2/4/17] Draught/Bottle at Extreme Beer Fest in Boston. Brown. Bourbon, hops, dark fruits, caramel, malt, sweet, bitter finish, a bit harsh.
3.8 sampler at tailspin. darkish brown color with off white head. nice aroma heavy malt, dark fruit, caramel/toffee, bourbon, some oak and hints of vanilla. the flavor was all that and some. heavy bodied, excellent malt base, lots of bourbon vanilla oak dart cherry and toffee undertones. nice way to start the day.
4.7 Pours thick, dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of candied apples, toffee, cherries, tobacco, bourbon, & orange zest. Taste is incredibly complex with all the aromas coming thru in layers. Starts off with dark, dried fruits. Middle shows off the tobacco, maple syrup, & cloves from bourbon barrels as well as roasted malts. Ends with a floral & juicy citrus hop combo. A lot of sweet, tropical fruits in finish. Medium body with a light carbonation. Tiny bit of booze heat at the end. This is an outstanding BBA barleywine...
3.7 Brown murky pour with small beige head from bomber. Syrup, malt, caramel hops. Pretty good
3.5 750ml bottle @ home. Bottled 2013.09.25. Pours a rich and cloudy brown colour with a reasonable tan head that diminishes to a thin covering. Nose is of molasses, malts, vanilla and some oak. Flavour is licorice, molasses, toffee, and oak. Fairly boozy and hot even for the age. Mild bitter finish that lingers a touch on the palate.
3.7 At Hopishop 2016. Aroma of raisin, caramel and malt. Taste has mild pine, bitter grassy hop, carame and some malt. Solid US barley wine. The bourbon is almost completely absent though.
4.5 Mooi amberkleurig bier met fijne witte schuimkraag. Lekkere, licht zoetige, barley wine. Aardbei, confituur, mout, caramel. Hele lekkere hoppige afdronk. Subliem.
4.3 750 ml. bottle sampled @ HopisHop B.U.M.B. 2016. Dark amber, tanned head. Nose is warming oxidized malt syrup, low iron, sugar, herbal sweet sticky malts, not very bourbon forward. Taste is lightly bitter herbal, you get more sweetness as it warms up, sugar, herbal, pleasant toffee & caramel with low herbal malt bitterness, nice, sugar, little bourbon actually but it is a nice malty treat as it is so it doesn’t matter. Thick malt, herbal sugar body.
3.7 Quite good and extremely malty. Sweet too and alcohoclic. Easy to drink and enjoy. Storn taste and great aroma.
3.9 Bottle, 75cl. Deep reddish with a creamy tan head. Musky aromas of dried fruits, caramel, brown sugar, alcohol, light barnyard yeast. Full bodied, moderate carbonation. Texture is oily. Medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter. Rich roasted and dried fruit flavors into a complex, harsh fruity and bourbon finish.
3.7 Bottle, 750ml. A dark reddish beer with a small white head. Aroma is of drid fruits, firewood, red apples and alcohol. Taste is moderately bitter and medium sweet with faint carbonation. Medium bodied, oily and with a nice aftertaste of dried fruits. Somewhat heavy finish of alcohol.
4.0 This is review of 12/2013 vintage Pours a dark mahogany body, head is 1/4th of an inch and tan. Head retention and lacing are pretty good for an 11 percent barleywine. Smell is of tons of roasted malts, biscuit, spent grain, and slight oak. Alcohol, especially bourbon, isnt really detected. Hops arent there either, this is a malt bomb. Taste is of rich toffee, caramel malt, slightly burnt biscuits, and charred oak. Alcohol is well hidden but I also dont get a ton of bourbon unfortunately. Mouthfeel is full bodied, rich, and nicely carbonated. Head stayed present for a good while, which is impressive for such a big beer. Overall this was a solid barelywine, but i think I prefer their anniversary barleywine more. Maybe being cellared for 2 and a half years diminished some of the nuanced flavors that I was expecting from this beer. Not to mention I missed the bourbon completely. Still a solid beer, will have to try one fresher.
3.2 Sweet, tea-like aroma. Tannic, cherries, leafy, vaporous alcohol. Clear, polished bronze. Lively fruitiness, boozy, woody notes, candied tones without being too sweet. Body is not too dense. A bit too raw and unbalanced. On tap, Brass Tap Midtown Tallahassee.
4.1 Wonderful warming nose, molasses, hints of cherry, raisins, and licorice. Nice balance of alcoholic warmth, sweetness and bitterness. Medium body, oily and slick, but without any cloying sweetness. Pleasant bitter finish. A wonderful sippable barley wine
3.8 750ml corked and caged bottle from Bottle and Cans in Chicago, with a bottle date of 10/11/13. Shared with bananabi11. At cellar temperature. Reddish brown pour. Beige head. Aroma has fruits, nuts, caramel, light wood raisin . Berry/caramel heavy. Taste is of sweet caramel, berries, other fruits, some wood alcohol. Licorice. Raisin. Maybe some barrel. Medium to full bodied. Lowly carbonated, the blend is solid. Definite alcohol. Finishes tangy sweet. Not sure if the aging was a positive or not. Solid taste but not great. 14.4
3.6 Tap at Sedona. Thick and syrupy. Licorice, dark fruit, cough syrup. Heavy.
4.0 Pours a deep amber color, with a two finger off white head that had some staying power. Aromas of hops, sweet malts, and some more hops. Flavor isn’t as sweet as I was led to believe. You can taste the alcohol from the get go, what follows is a nice mellow caramel/brown sugar (I Guess) sweetness that finishes with a nice bitter hop.
4.4 Pours dark brown to black with light beige wisp and ring. Aroma is sweet, sweet bourbon, raisins and a little black currant. Taste is mainly sweet bourbon, touch of smoke, lightly bitter from the hops. This is bottled in 2013 so a lot of the hops have fallen off but still a lot of bite from the alcohol. Excellent beer.
3.7 Bottle from Whole Foods. Not much to look at, but a pleasure to drink. Bourbon barrel aging smooths out the entire package, making this one an easy to drink BW. Malts shine throughout, tons of caramel, toffee and butterscotch. Not much of the BA is readily evident, just subtle notes here and there, and toning down the 11% ABV to drinkable levels.
4.3 Darkm amber with off white head - Spiced malt and wood aroma - Good sweet malt body with some spicy wood notes with some nice alcohol heat in the back - Sweet malt and some fruity and spicy notes goes into the finish - This was real good
4.0 Bomber shared with brian dan and the duster...2014 vintage...aged beautifully...nose is fantastic with bourbon and vanilla notes...mouth was the same and excellent...every sip tasted better than the last...awesome brew!
3.7 Bottled 07/29/13. (aged review) This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a soft burnt brown color with a thin wisp of a white little head. Delicate messy lacing wove around the glass. The smell started off with dried dark fruits. Sweetness from the dried dark fruits rolls into a nice dried woody aroma. The flavor takes in the dried woody flavor with a nice sweet dying bourbon flavored dark fruitiness. Dry woody aftertaste and a semi-sticky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sipping to sessionable quality about it. Carbonation has definitely died off. Very dry and pounding on my tongue. Overall, its still a good Barleywine leaning towards the English side of the wheelhouse. I’d like to try again fresher. Still,, I believe this one aged nicely.
