Detour blazes the trail for fresh and bold Double IPAs. Four varieties of hops combine to step up the flavor profile. A hoppy adventure that finishes dry. Big in alcohol and character. Venture to pair with other spirited flavors such as those found in spicy ethnic foods.

3.6More malt than your average double IPA. It has good flavor and bitterness hits after the initial malt taste.
3.7355ml can. Pours a hazy orange with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, peach, orange, grapefruit and light pine needles. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, peach, orange, grapefruit and pine needles with a dry, bitter, spicy hop finish. Medium to full body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad.
3.4Can. Pours a clear dark coppery color with a nice head and some lacing. Aroma is piney, with citrus and trace of malt. Taste of pine, citrus, bit of malt sweetness and grain. Good bitterness and finish is quite dry. Medium body, crisp, bit boozy with a nice hop feel. Not too bad.
2.612 oz. can into chuggin'mug.
bouquet of butterscotch and breakfast tea.
taste of black tea with ethyl alcohol.
I miss the hops and don't care for the malts. it does get you drunk, though.
1.9I love IPAs and double IPAs are great as well, but this one is way too malty and doesn't have enough bitterness to cut through the sweetness of the malt.
It's clear from the description on the can though that it's malty, so I should have known better.
4.0nice bitterness, alcohol is hidden well, crisp finish
3.8Intense bitterness of ripe melon, grapefruit, lemon, and some nice spicing. Juicy palate, dry finish. Fine lacing and a good bitter hop character.
3.5Rating #2649 2016.06.28 - Bottle brought back from Utah. Pours a darker amber, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is spicy, earthy hops, mild citrus sweetness, lots of piney, resinous notes, again subtle citrus sweetness in the flavour. Fairly balanced in terms of hop profile, and managing the ABV, this is a pretty average IIPA
3.4Draught @ PREfunk, Boise. Pours a clear amber brown colour with a small white head. Nose is resinous piney sweet hops. Flavour is quite malty sweet with a semi grassy resinous pine hop character with a pithy citrus twist in the finish.
3.7Massive citrus pine aroma in an amber pour. Hop forward balance with a big caramel fruit malt body and finish. Way easy drinking (dangerously so) but more like a TIPA overall. Would I have another? Yes, indeed I would!
3.0Caramel apple-sweet DIPA, with a boozy orange marmalade backbone and a resinous pinecone finish. Drinkable, but the heavy, heavy malts almost push it into barleywine territory, eventually overcoming the hop goodness and growing cloy as the pint warms. Clingy IBUs help the fade, but overall much too sweet for another glass. Alcohol warmth grows as well. Pretty, though, and the dank-citrus nose is inviting.
3.6Can from Das Stahl Bierhaus. It poured a dark gold with a white head. The aroma is resinous pine and citrus. It has a bitter taste.
4.0On tap at Taverna. Ciderlike color, thin head, good lacing. Boozy tangerine aroma. Flavor profile was similar. Ripe orange, citrusy zest. Sweet but just enough bite to make it not cloying. Enjoyable.
3.4Deep amber with tiny bubbles rising diligently to the top to support the bottom of a relatively medium sized but sturdy looking head. Small craters form in the top of the head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and resin. Aroma is actually pretty delicious. Flavor has a lot of malt and light clover honey. The hop flavor is there but is a little muddled. This beer is a bit syrupy in the mouth, which isn’t uncommon with a double IPA but the flavor doesn’t help to cut this one. The aroma is by far the best part of this beer. The rest isn’t bad but is a little disappointing just because the initial whiff of the beer is so good.
3.712oz can. Pours hazy dark orange, medium white head. Piney ripe grapefruit nose. Full bodied, with flavors of candied orange peel, caramel, molasses, generous dose of bittering hops. Alcohol not hot but evident. Somewhat thick and sweet in the mid-palate then dries off a little for the lingering bitter, orange finish.
3.712oz can cloudy burnt orange pour with off white head aroma is strong hay and grass medium sour with light bitter finish
3.9Pours the color of pumpkin pie, dark and murky, suspended particulate. Hearty ivory colored head, cascading lace. Aroma is heavy in citrus, grapefruit, strawberry, reeds on a warm day. Full and somewhat creamy feel. More citrus, orange peel, traces of caramel on the back end. Mild burn going down. Well balanced, well made.
3.3pours unclear medium dark golden orange with a nice reviving off-white cap offering some retention and lacing. very doughy and meaty mangoes, kind of buttery melons, candied orange fruitiness as well, underlying caramel perhaps, sweet pine gum, maple water, lots of peppery and piney alcohol, fruity yeast. moderate carbonation, medium body - very oily; sweet, assertive and burning hot spicy-resinous finish. hearty and dank but unfortunaley stingingly very piney and boozy. o-k.
4.2Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass at Taco Mac in Atlanta. The appearance is a clear orange color with a large off-white head. The aroma is pine and oranges. The taste is spiced oranges with some pine hops. A very nice beer.
4.112 fl oz. from local Alko, Viikki. Simply love this kind of IPA. This skilfully made brew reminds me of saying: “The few who do are the envy of the many who watch.” - Jim Rohn. Loving the exotic fruits!
3.7Bottle. Ambercolor with off-white head. Aroma has grass, pine, needles and some tropical fruits. Taste is fruity and a bit sweet with long bitter and quite dry aftertaste. Flavors of pine, needles, citrus and tropical fruits.
3.2Flarra rest krokius. Doftar tungt lite vinöst. Ja blåa druvor med övermoget äpple. (Kanske gammal Dipa?) Smakar likt doften dock med rätt fräsch medelbeska. Låångt efteråt kommer de där barren. Åh dessa tallbarr är av sämre kvalite. Ett dåligt trä kanske? Njaaee ingen vidare Dipa. Åh det du nu undrar. Skulle jag välja denna dåliga Dipa framför alla sk Jul öl som finns tillgå på ett svenskt julbord? Självklart är svaret .
3.8Bottle 355ml from Alko. Pours clear amber, off white head. Resin, herbal hops, pine, caramel in the aroma. Resin, sweet, pine flavour.
3.4Nice DIPA from Utah, where, when last I bicycled through, had some pretty restrictive laws regarding alcohol in general and the strength of brews allowed. Hats off to Uinta for thriving in this environment. DIPA is my wheelhouse. Aroma is malty with citrus, ale is full flavored citrus and hops, heavy on the malt, too sweet, pine and booze. This is a rewrite of an earlier review, as I liked my first bottle, but some time later I can’t get over the heavy malt sweetness.
3.7Shared 12 oz. can. Pours pale amber with a slight haze. Off-white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, caramel. Taste follows nose with some pine. Plenty of malt backbone. Very bitter finish. Medium body. Solid.
3.9Aroma: fresh and hoppy; Appearance: slightly hazy amber pour with thin white head that lingers; Taste: very rich and hoppy; smooth; malty; Palate: medium-heavy body with long, rich finish; Overall: quite good but one would be enough. Would get again.
3.1this one is way over rated. flavor is overly bitter and malty. somewhat sweet too. medium mouthfeel. pours coper with a thick white head . had out of can in park city.
3.7Clear, dark copper color with a slightly off-white head. A lot of tropical fruit aromas (pineapple, mango, tangerine). Arrives on palate very sweet—fruits and caramel up front. Finishes with mild, lingering piney/pithy bitterness. Medium body & carb; surprisingly dry aftertaste despite how sweet it arrives. Really nice DIPA that starts to borderline a barleywine’s sweetness & body, but it still has a lot of hops to pull it back.
4.3Dark gold with nice head that smells of grapefruit and juniper. Taste is grapefruit, herbs, and pine with a very acidic aftertaste. Thick but still goes down easy. Really good IPA and at a decent price. So other than having to get it in the CAN this is a brew that I will be picking up again.
