Uinta Hoodoo Kölsch

Uinta Hoodoo Kölsch

A hoodoo is a tall, this spire of rock that protrudes from the bottom of a basin or badland that are mainly located in the dry, hot areas. Hoodoos can reach heights exceeding that of a 10- story building. So why the name of your beer you might be wondering…well, nowhere in the world are Hoodoos more abundant than right here in our home state, more specifically, in Bryce Canyon National Park.

2.0 Bottle. Pours a golden color with white head. Straw, noble hops, pils malt aromas. Veggie, corn, straw, spicy flavors. The veggie/corn flavor is a little off-putting. Also a touch metallic. I wouldn’t get this one again.
3.5 Bottle. Clear pale yellow color, white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of peppery straw. taste is peppery hay.
3.4 Rated as Uinta HooDoo - Warner Robins, Ga. - Lazy Dog Growler - 12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light golden with a light soft off-white head that leaves just a trail of lacing. Aroma has some light spicy notes a hint of yeast. Flavor has some nice buttery accents, some bready notes, some nice saffron-like spiciness. Mouthfeel is nice and crisp. Love the bottle - has a drawing of "Thor’s Hammer" and iconic Hoodoo at Bryce National Park that I was just at 2 weeks ago.
2.9 (12oz bottle) clear light gold, fine soapy white bubbles. Nose is very sweet, candi sugar, grainy, grapes. Taste is quite sweet, oats, biscuit, honey, medium to light body, touch of butter on the finish.
2.7 (12oz. bottle) - Very small white head that collapses pretty fast. Light golden body. Typical Euro flavor and aroma. Mouth feel is actually on the watery side for me. Clean palate though.
3.5 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: This one has a clear bright golden body with a tall loose head on top. This head settles down quickly leaving just a few bubbles at the surface and around the edge of the glass. Smell: There is not much going on here. The aroma is very light. Only a slight citrusy hop presence is noted. Taste / Palate: The flavor profile is very clean and light. There is a very modest and refreshing cracker like malty base with mild lemony hop bitterness. The finish is quick and fairly dry.
2.8 bottle shared by Keith. pours hazy golden with small white head, notes are toasted malt, light caramel malt, bread, not really lemony or summer tasting. Light body with a lot of carbonation.
3.4 Bottle at home. Pours lightly hazy orange with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is Pils malt, corn and DMS with light spicy hops. Flavor is sweet malt dominant, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
2.7 Clear orange pour some head. Aroma of barley, yeast, hay, tang. Tastes full malty, creamy sweet. Not representative of the style. Leaves a thick creaminess in the mouth. Could’ve been a lot more refreshing.
2.6 12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s into a pint glass, one month past it’s date. Golden yellow and clear with a lacy white head, mostly lasting. Mild aroma of light sweet malts and light noble hops. Similar flavor, bland and crisp with light bitterness. Light body, tastes kind of old.
3.3 Appearance: poured into my favorite Gaffel Kölsch glass, it’s bright clear gold with a fluffy, bright white head. Aroma: light cereal grains, with some citrus zest, a hint of pepper, and a bit of hay. Taste: delicate flavors of lightly toasted white bread, bitter citrus and floral notes, and a bit of spice. Finish: clean, crisp, and dry, with a bit of floral bitterness. Notes: This is a nicely delicate kölsch, as the style dictates. It’s lacking some of the traditional sweetness I look for, but it’s pretty decent.
3.8 12oz bottle labeled as Uinta HooDoo at Brewmasters in Wilson poured into a pint glass. Golden brown hue with a hazy body with mostly lasting white head. I had a hard time on aroma but there were some citrus notes. Bitter fruit/citrus on the initial taste with a moderate lasting fruit/citrus finish. This was an okay beer!
3.1 12 oz bottle pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malts and grain. Taste is malts and a little sweetness.
3.2 Labeled as "Uinta Hoodoo." Yeasty aroma. Pale yellow color. Moderately bitter, but very drinkable. Not much character.
3.3 Clear, pale gold with a frothy, white head. The aroma has light cracker and lemon notes. It has a light, crisp texture with lively carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet with a quick, clean finish.
3.1 Pours a muted yellow and kinda of hazy. Lemon aroma. Flavor is light toasty grain. Bitter metallic finish. Would be great in mass quantities on the beach.
3.0 (bottle - 12 oz) Hazy light gold pour with a fizzy white head. Dry and lightly dank aroma with a touch of sweet malts under it. Sweet and slightly fruity at the start that leads to a light melon sweetness near the middle and then quickly fades into a lightly bitter and dry finish and aftertaste.
3.3 bottled as HooDoo Kolsch. Yellow pour, medium to lighter bodied. Nice kolsch. crisp , clean, easy drinking. mission accomplished here for Uinta, nicely done
3.0 Location/Date:Bottle on July 25th, 2013 as Uinta Hoodoo. Appearance: Pors an orange cloud with light white head. Aroma: Aroma of light biscuit. Taste: Faint bitterness, light biscuit, clean. Palate:Medium light body. Summary: I am new to Uinta in the last 2-3 years, so never saw these old labels. I really like the new designs. Decent beer, good for the summer.
2.9 Rated in 2010 (Backlog) - Golden with an average sized white head. Aroma is of grain and light lemon. Taste is of grain.
2.5 A hazed blonde kolsch with a thin lacing creamy white head. In aroma, a rather grainy and fruity malt with herbal notes and mash tun notes. In mouth, watery kolsch with grassy and grainy malt, mineral notes and underfermented worth.
2.5 Very difficult to get any aroma off this brew. Maybe some grasses, hard to tell. Light golden in color, the head dissipated fairly quickly with some clinging to the side. Pleasant, mild, grassy taste. Fairly decent.
3.2 Uinta HooDoo Kolsch Style Ale: Nearly odorless brew. Taste reminiscent of your Natty Bohs, PBRs etc. The difference with HooDoo is the presence of a pleasant aftertaste. Overall, a decent light-bodied ale. Good on a hot summer evening.
3.0 Bottle pour..medium orange like color..slight haze..little carbonated bubbles slowly rising..aroma is ok..slight green apple..bready presence..leaves some lacing..light bodied..taste has some sweetness that is toned down..mouthfeel has some intricacies involving citrus other fruits..overall this is a fairly good flavorful beer at this abv..would be nice to enjoy in summertime when much warmer out...
3.4 Nothing exceptional here, but I like the clean light feel of this one. The aroma is a little faint and blah, but it has a well rounded flavor. The beer delivers a grassy, faintly citrus, and almost a hint of tart funkiness... acidulated malt perhaps? Nice crisp finish that is somewhat smooth... not sure if this is the sun’s highest or lowest point in the sky.
3.4 Clear golden yellow color with lots of effervescents. Pillowy white head. Aroma of straw and grass. Clean, crisp and easy drinking. Also has a smooth finish. This beer is spot on for the style and a great beverage to enjoy on a hot summer day.
3.2 Tap: slight haze on a light golden pour with thin white head. Aroma is light with grass, bisquit and a little wood. Flavor is sweet with some honey and malt moving to a slight grass/grain tart. Palate is sweet but thin, ending with a light tart. Easy to drink but flavor passes by to quickly. Nice on a got night.
4.4 bottle named hoodoo. clear gold under a large, fluffy, white head. clean aroma. flavor is grassy with zesty lime and balanced malty sweetness. the head is puffy.. incredibly light, smooth, and flavorful. this is how its done. uinta rules.
3.6 12 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Best Before: 07/21/13. Appearance: Pours a clear, light yellow body with a tall, proud, white head. Drips and blurbs of lacing on the way down. Smell: Easy-going malts, a little sun-dried hay, a touch of crustless white loaf bread. Fruity-scented accents smelling of apple and sweet white grapes. Thin sliver of hoppiness. Taste: Soft maltiness, though, with a skosh more cereal sweetness than expected. A touch of sulphury apple lands early, a few drips of white wine. Lightly herbal hops, lightly bitter. Sweetish, fruityish finish with a good mouth of suds. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium-plus carbonation. Overall: Refreshing, easy-drinking. Solid enough for an American-born Kölsch.
3.5 4oz draft pour as "HooDoo." Poured a slightly hazy yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was wheat, bready, with some light malt character. Flavor was wheat, with light malts. Really easy to consume, nice to drink, very clean. Very sessionable.
