Uinta Trader Session IPA

Uinta Trader Session IPA

India Pale Ale is a style of ale noted for its high hop content. The style of beer received its name in the 19th century when England controlled the country of India.

With no refrigeration or pasteurization in those days, the British were challenged to brew a beer that would survive the long, hot trip to India and upon arrival, satisfy the British citizens and thirsty troops stationed there.

In discovering that the hop flower is a natural preservative, the British brewed an ale with an abundant amount of hops, and it worked! Hundreds of years later, the style is still the favorite of many a craft brew drinker.

Uinta’s Trader is a well balanced version of the traditional India Pale Ale. The beer is dry hopped with a generous amount of Centennial hops that give it a nice floral finish and a citrusy assertiveness without jeopardizing its malt flavor.

3.2 355ml can from K-Citymarket Ruoholahti. BBE 26/07/17. Pours dark orange with a foamy head. Aroma of caramely malts, hints of old herbal hops and grass. Taste is sweet, malty and caramely with some gooseberries, pine, resin and herbal notes, some hints of aged hops. Finish is sweet, caramely and slightly bitter with some gooseberries, herbal notes, pine and resin. Doesn’t feel very fresh.
3.7 33 cl can @ home, BBE 26.07.2017 Aroma has tropical fruits, fruit candy and some juiciness. Flavour has tropical fruits, fruit candy, some juicy tones. Finishes with mild bready malt tones. Rather good S-IPA - especially for this ABV.

3.0 12 oz can. BB 07/26/17. (K-Citymarket) Tampere, Finland. Hazy brownish golden color with a small foamy off-white head. Citrusy hops, moderate bitterness, dryness and sweetish malt in the aroma. Nice. The flavor is a bit messy... with grassy and resiny hops, some citrus, mild bitterness, dryness and malt.
3.1 Sample at SBWF 2016. Light orange with a white head. Fairly mild with hops, light pineapple and citrus. Also some malt. The finish was on the sweet side.
3.1 Aroma is citrus, very light pine and lemons. The flavor is citrus, fruit, faint malts and a mildly spicy finish.
3.2 Lovely fresh piney scent. Flavor didn’t quite match it though. A bit dull. Soft bitter hop. Gold pour with white head. Drinkable but nothing super.
3.3 Golden color, white head. Sort of a blend of west coast and east coast hoppiness, leaning a little more toward the west. Very piney. Balanced with sweet malt. Would like it to be more intense in flavor
3.1 Picked up from the brewery, served from a can. Fresh hop aroma but body is fairly tamed. Experience is short lived.
3.1 Can from Wegman’s. Pours hazy straw with 2-finger, off-white head. Nose was caramel malt, hops, orange marmalade. Tastes hoppy, citric, with notes of orange marm, some grapefruit, overall someone sweet, cloying, and bland.
3.2 Pours a finger and half of head on a slightly hazy straw body. The aroma is pine, mango and pineapple. Nice tropical smells. The taste has a sharp pine bitter followed by a watery bitter. The texture is crisp. It has nice aroma but the flavor is a bit jarring.
3.1 Nice amber color; Light to medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of caramel malt, floral hops, & citrus; Flavor of malt, pine hops, some caramel, and citrus (notably grapefruit); Finish is slightly bitter; Overall, not that bad.
3.4 Can. Can’t identify the aroma characteristics, but it’s not particularly favorable. Cloudy amber with not much head and little to no lace. Reasonably good session IPA. Doesn’t blow me away. Basically about middle of the road among the 10 or so session IPAs I’ve had.
3.8 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear gold color with a thick white head leaving a little lacing on the glass. Aroma is nice - pine and some citrus hops in the background. Medium body, taste leans a little to the malt side although the hops are present. There is a little grain/cereal flavor as well. Finish is slightly bitter, but not overdoing. Pretty good!
3.5 12 oz. can. Poured clear orange with pillowy off white head. Tremendous lacing. Sweet malt, light floral and citrus flavor. Fairly average session IPA but fairly enjoyable.
4.0 Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. the appearnace is a clear, fairly dark yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is complex with hops, citrus and yeast. The taste is heavy with malt and has a hop finish. Overall, a really good IPA.
3.1 Pours a clear yellow/gold color with next to no lacing or head retention. Smells slightly piney and malty. Has a sweeter taste than an ipa should. Just ok....kind of disappointed.
3.3 Can from Beer and Wine. Hazy golden body. Nose is hoppy with some citrus. Taste is also hoppy with nice floral and sweet notes. Some oranges and pine in there. Pretty good little session beer.
3.6 14 oz from tap @ Salt Lake City Airport (where there’s some nice local crafts to be had). Golden color, lightly hazy. White head, somewhat rocky. Aroma’s: piney/resinous, some citrus, some malt. Retronasal there’s more citrus to it. Flavor is light grainish sweet, light bitter. Light bodied, quite thin. Finishes moderate bitter. Lots of hops, but still mild. Pleasant.
2.7 Not big on session IPAs and this one just underwhelms. Muddled hop palate exaserbated by the low alcohol. Blah.
3.0 Can 35,5cl / Lata 35,5cl. @ Maverik Adventure’s First Stop, Monticello, UT, USA A: Golden / Dorado. T/S: Cereal, slightly hoppy / Cereal, ligeramente a lupulo.
3.4 Draft at the brewery. Pours clear bright gold with a fizzy off white head and lots of lacing. Tastes like pine hops, resin, smooth mellow grapefruit, and toasted malt. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like musky pine hops, faint resin, and faint grapefruit.
3.9 On Tap at Bitter Creek, Boise Clear deep golden, big fluffy off white head., Fresh light grassy fruity hop aroma and flavors. LIght and a nice mild soft malty body. Very nice Session IPA Impressed
4.0 Surprised people are so harsh on this. Amazing head, nice lacing. Aroma is so amazing when you first pour it! Flavor is a bit malty, but nice bitterness, quite mellow as a session should be. Overall not bad. Maybe I just like beer more than the rest ;-)
3.0 Not too hoppy for an IPA, not very filling either. Good beer to have when only planning on having one
3.1 Beer of month club. Pours a deep gold with slight white foam. Nose of citrus and pine. It's on the taste this is obviously a session - I am so used to the big IPAs the difference is striking. There is some citrus, but it is pretty bready and much thinner than what I am used to. It's ok for a session, but think I will stick to the big guns.
3.5 On tap @ Uinta. Clear golden pour with a sticky white head. Mostly just smells and tastes like bread, though there is a fair amount of floral and grassy hop character. Slight citrus rind as well. A little sweeter than I’m used to for a session IPA, but does have some decent bitterness. Not bad, but kind of on the mild side.
