3.5Bottle. Cloudy golden-orange with a dense, lasting white head. Aroma is citrus zest, Belgian yeast, a touch of white bread. Flavour is sweet citrus, some yeast ad candy notes, a touch boozy for the ABV. Pretty classic Unibroue.
3.9Pours a huge frothy white head and has a hazy orangey golden appearance. Aromas of yeast and citrusy notes. Flavours are quite sweet with strong spice notes. The yeast takes a backseat and the hoppy citrusy hints become more pronounced. Also some notes of floral and earthy hops. Fairly excessive carbonation. Full bodied mouthfeel.
3.7Bottle. Pours hazy golden with medium white head. Arom is subtle; citrus blegian yeast, spices. Taste is sweet, citrusy and a hint of spices with a very light bitterness. Very good.
4.0341 ml from pasquier thx Alex A: light coriander, herbacy, bready, spicy app: hazy pale thick white head with great lacing t/p: med body with light bitter finish. Med to high carbonation. Crisp. O: great. Nice belgian character and superb overall drinkability. Unibroue should definitely consider reentering this beer to it’s already amazing portfolio.
3.7Bottle from Pasquier. Aroma: tropical fruits, lemon, spices and a smell that reminds us of brett even though it?s not. App: hazy golden with small white head. Some lacing. Taste and palate : medium body, light acidity finish. Average carbonation. Overall: nose is awesome, carbonation could be higher. Another great beer from Unibroue
3.3Bottle @ Home. Pours slightly hazy orangebrown with a small white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, light honey, spice, fruit. Flavor is light sweet, malty, belgian yeast, honey, sweet fruit, pear, little alcohol. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. 150910
4.3I just have to say, it took me almost three years to find this one so finally being able to write this review is very enjoyable. This tripel presents a foggy golden orange robe showing tons of bubbles. The head is very lightly tanned and seems to be creamy, even unctuous and fluffy at the same time. It retains very well and will show a good lacing. The nose first hits you with sweet and sweaty malts originating from the corn and barley malts used in its crafting. The corn is very present kind of supporting all of the other aromas. You can also decode some spice and a light bready side to it. The taste delivers the malts but very lightly so they don’t overwhelm the palate and they are mixed with some floral hops and a bit of smoke that delivers some kick. The taste is very interesting and presents no aftertaste. It could remind you of a strong lager (7% ABV and up) from the sweetness but it shows an interesting complexity that kills that idea on the spot. The mouthfeel is dense and creamy (even foamy) paired with a light sharpness that gives it structure. Conservative Tripel amateurs might not be impressed by this product but being a huge fan of Belgian style tripels this brew caught my attention for its distinctive taste and aroma. If you ever get the chance of laying your hands on one of those, it’s definitely worth a try. I kept two bottles in my cellar for two years and cracked them opened during the summer of 2013. Aged, this beer becomes much more complex with strong hints of buttered tablet and brown sugar. Very liquorish, it was outrageous!
3.3Really rather strong yeast taste on this beer. Otherwise relatively typical tripel I would say.
3.4Pours hazy golden-amber, with a 1-finger white head and a moderate amount of bubbling on the glass. Aroma is fruity with a note of honey. Medium body with a mild oily thickness and a dry finish. Flavor has notes of orange peel and earthy yeast. Some honey-sweetness beneath, and maybe a touch of apple as well.
3.0Tap. Pours a hazy golden with a layer of cream colored head. Aroma of overwhelming yeast. Taste of some citrus and yeast.
3.1Surprised I have not rated this. 750 ml, caged and corked bottle (drank tail gating before the Pro-Muay Thai fights). Hazy golden in color with an averaged sized head. Unibroue yeastiness, spicy, some citrus, and a lighter fruitiness.
3.4Bottle @ the rake dungeon stored in various rotboxes for the past three years. Slight gusher. Nice looking, hazy, bright yellow orange appearance with a cream colored head. The aroma is a bit heavy on the phenols and esters - lots of apple, banana, pear, some clove, and black pepper. Some notes of oxidation in the aroma. Decent carbonation. Somewhat dusty and lightly doughy flavor. Pretty yeast forward flavor. More banana and red apple. Some more oxidation. Not much of a problem with the alcohol - pretty smooth finish. Probably should have been drank a bit more fresh but it’s still kind of a fun beer.
3.4Cloudy straw colored pour. Small white head. Little lacing. Aroma of sour malt and yeast. Some banana. Taste is clove and banana with some notes of pepper.
4.5Poured into a tulip glass. Pours a hazy light gold color with a smaller than expected head for Unibroue. Nose is apples and spring fruits. Taste is light, refreshing, of apples ans fruit. Slightly sweet, with the typical Belgian yeast finish of bubblegum, clove, and banana. Tastes like cider made by Belgians Unusual, but quite good..
3.7341ml bottle. Pours hazy, and the colour of honey, with an off-white head of fine white bubbles. On the nose, light notes of lemon, wet concrete, yeast, black pepper, honey, with light floral and earthy notes. Taste wise, it’s sultanas, light corn syrup, light apple pie filling, and mineral notes that lead into a touch of metallic hops, yeast, and a fruity crisp mineral finish.
3.6Bottle. Murky apricot body, thin off-white head. Spicy nose, light fruits (white grape, pineapple), clove, and hints of pepper. Body with lots of apples, dough, and cloves. Cider-like. Rich, spicy, and fruity.
3.5750 ml bomber. Appearance: finger of white head that dissipates quickly, straw color, cloudy, Aroma: cereal, Belgian yeast, floral hops, citrusy orange. Palate: light body, dry finish, lively carbonation, thin texture. Taste: medium sweetness, lightest tartness. Overall, complex and great classic Belgian. Very refreshing and enjoyable to drink.
3.4Pen & Paper Log (Dec 2012)
Aroma - sweet aroma, with some citrus in the nose as well as coriander spice
Appearance - hazy orange, with a think thin white head, that eventually rings out
Taste - Unibroue’s charachteristic yeasty quality always shows up, and this is no different. Flavor is sweet and peppery, with coriander. Very typical of Unibroue
Palate - body is medium, the carbonation is lively on the palate, the finish is abrupt and has that carbonation yeast quality about it.
3.4Decent tripel without some of the buttery velvety smoothness of a Karmaliet. Sweet malt, flowers, some coriander, head lacks some of the normal fluffy body. Good, but not great.
3.3Golden yellow color with a small white head. Has a subtle yeasty aroma. Flavor is also very subtle. Has hints of yeast and a touch of sweetness. Doesn’t quite stand out against other top tripels, such as Unibroue’s own La Fin Du Monde, but is still decent.
3.4Bomber. Hazy golden pour with a thin amber head that disappears fast. Aromas of Belgian yeast, bread, citrus, spice and light earthy notes. Flavor is sweet citrus, light malt, yeast, and spice. Light to medium bodied with a dry finish. Lingering fruit.
3.7Golden amber color with a medium ot large white head. Aroma is spicy, yeasty and hops. A very spicy forward beer with notes of coriander and pepper.
4.316 months old 341ml bottle.
This is a typical Unibroue beer at their best. hazy with dark golden color. nice foamy head some lemon notes in the aroma. Unibroue’s one of a kind yeast is at best in this one I thinks it matches all the flavors together. slight touch of sugar. which makes this beverage hold in mouth very nicely. The only thing I may hate about Unibroue is that they use the same yeast base in almost every beer they brew ... but with such a good yeast who can really blame them... have it a try if you can find it . it holds very well in anyone’s cellar ... I advise to drink it after a year or 2 of fermentation in the bottle!! cheers
