3.2 5/16/15. On tap at Reverend’s, Bowling Green, OH. Golden pour with a small off-white head. Sweet, fruity aroma, reminds of the other Ephemeres, can’t say I get Musca cranberry specifically. A bit more cranberry in the flavor, sweet, pale malts, doughy. Not bad.
3.5 Large white head from a cloudy golden body. Straw aroma filled with slight cranberry and a touch of orange to cut the bitters. Very drinkable ale.
2.5 Semi-see thru straw colour, with considerable carbonation. Thin white head. Not a particularly attractive looking beer. Aromas of apple (I’ve had the apple version of this and it smells the same... where is the tart cranberry?), and maybe a bit of Belgian yeast. Mouth feel is thin and sparklingly crisp. Tastes are more towards cranberry than the aroma, and dried fruits. Bit of grain. Overall, this is too light and fruity of a beer for my tastes. Would not buy again.
3.5 Bomber from Wilbur’s. Appearance: 3 fingers white head that lasts, straw yellow, cloudy, ok lacing. Aroma: cranberry, light wheat, light caramel, apple, light orange, light grassiness. Palate: light body, average to lively carbonation, slight dry finish, tart, sparkling texture. Taste: sweet cranberry and apple with a spike of cranberry tartness, with light wheat astringency, and perhaps a little bit of grassy hops on the end. Overall, very pleasant, really drinkable, very good beer!
3.5 12 oz draft pours golden with a white head. Aroma of fruit, yeast and grass. Taste is spice, fruit and malts.
2.9 Bottle from the lcbo. Pours golden. A bit of cranberry in the nose and palette. like a cranberry-flavoured saison. Average.
3.6 Smells like cranberry juice with notes of malt. Cloudy gold colour. Tangy front with notes of cranberry, plum, and malt. Medium in body and carbonation. A tasty beer.
3.9 Bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow, with quite a bit of carbonation. Somehow I expected this to be cloying, but it’s actually quite delicious. Initially light and fizzy on the palate, which fades into a very nice dry cranberry note. I could drink quite a bit of this without a problem.
3.1 Bottled sample courtesy of Drew Scurfield. Pours straw colour. Minimal head. Very bubbly. Tart tasting.
3.1 Pour is straw yellow with a tall and fluffy head. Aroma is yeasty with lite fruit notes. It’s a nice beer and very easy drinker but leaves you wanting more. I will say it’s best to drink a little warmer then the 38 deg frig temp. As with most beer the temp warms and the flavors are more pronounced. Starts out yeasty and wheaty then comes the fruit followed by a tart bitterness.
3.4 [6715-20140830] Bottle. Minty cranberry fruit aroma. Hazy, light yellow orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Fruity cranberry yeast flavour. Medium body. Good. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4
3.2 Tap at Busters. Strange beer. Slightly hazy yellow pour. Great aroma of yeast and dark fruit. Smells like a winner. Taste is different - kind of cheap and bland. Bizarre discrepancy here for me.
3.4 On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford. Appearance: Amber body, white head. Aroma: Cranberry through and through. Taste: Creamberry with some Belgian yeast. Palate: Medium bodied, moderate carbonated. Overall: One note, not bad though.
2.6 Appearance: clear bright gold, with a short and shy fizzy white head quickly fading. Aroma: strong aroma of cranberry extract, light yeast, tart stone fruit. Taste: prominent cranberry fruit character up front, then some slightly sweet light malt (pilsner?), then a dose of yeast. Finish: pretty astringent and medicinal, with the cranberry becoming more and more fake-seeming . Notes: Probably the most disappointed I’ve ever been with a Unibroue beer. Cranberry seemed pretty artificial, and the beer lacked the tartness you’d expect. Clearly the weakest of the Ephemere family. Bottle from Roots Market, Olney, Maryland.
2.5 2014 LCBO release. Pinkish tinged body with tons of foaming white head. Light cranberry aroma. Taste seems supplemented by malt and while a bit tart, I have had better efforts at delivering cranberry taste.
3.2 Pour is a little darker than other ephemere’s with a thin white head...smell is cranberry, yeast, and doughy...taste is malty, then some sour cranberry that builds into a nice finish
3.3 In bottle; not bad .. poured a hazy golden color ... aroma of cranberry with a hint of citrus and spice. Very easy drinking ... one of the better choices from Unibroue
3.2 Pours cloudy gold with a big frothy white top. Aroma is bitter cranberry with sweet grains. Taste is a very solid basic beer infused with the bitterness and tart from the cranberries.
2.9 Cloudy dirty yellow color. Slight yeasty fruitiness on the nose. Taste- tart, yeasty, wheaty and perfumey. The cranberry is subtle but present. Not very sweet, more dry. Very effervescent. Refreshing but overall, somewhat boring.
4.1 750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, best before 7/25/2016. Pours hazy bright golden straw color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big tart cranberry, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, clove, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Awesome aromas with great complexity and balance of cranberry, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart cranberry, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, clove, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of cranberry, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, clove, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of cranberry, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; wit ha great yeast/malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent fruited witbier style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of cranberry, fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.2 Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is powdered sugar covered cranberrys. Flavor is a spritzy wheat ale with cranberry in the backround. Not as heavy on the cranberry as I was thinking this would be. Still it’s a better than average fruit-wheat beer. Nothing artificial in this.
3.5 11/7/2014. 750 ml. bottle. Hazy golden yellow with a white head. Fruity wheat aromas with Belgian yeast and spices. The cranberry is somewhat muted and this is mostly a Belgian Wit. Still pretty tasty.
3.6 On tap at SPTR, pours lightly hazy and murky golden brown with small to medium white head. Aromas and flavor of Belgian yeast, dark fruit, cherry candy but faint, not much cranberry. Medium bodied. This is alright just not nearly enough cranberry in this one.
3.5 Bottle. Aroma is slight, not overpowering, with delicate cranberry hints to it. Looks light golden in colour, no touches of red at all. Tastes on the sweet side, lacks any kind of tart cranberry flavour which is both a blessing and a curse. Some tartness would’ve balanced it out. It has a light finish and polishes more refreshing than you’d think. Quite nice.
3.0 Tap sample. Poured hazy amber with an average frothy white head that was fully lasting and produced fair lacing. Medium fruit aroma. Light to medium body with a thin texture and soft carbonation. Sweet fruit flavor with a light fruit sweet finish of average duration.
3.4 Slightly sweet wheat malt aroma, with a nice cranberry presence. Pours a clear light golden with a full white head and visible carbonation. Much sweeter then I was expecting, with the cranberries more of a hint of flavor then the tart presence I was expecting. Very light bodied, with lots of carbonation. Easy drinking, and I can see this pairing with several options for Thanksgiving.
3.2 Tap sample at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy light golden color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma and flavor have a soft fruity character, Belgian yeast, light bready character, mild sweetness, thin and a bit watery.
4.2 Very bright tart fruit aromas, lemony, candy like. Sharp, tart, delicate cranberry flavors, spicy. Funky finish that lingers a little bit.
3.8 Aromas of tart cranberry candy, Italian ice, somewhat lemony. Hazy yellow-orange, white had is mostly fading. Very refreshing, citrusy. Light bodied.
3.7 Bottle from LCBO. Pours amber, not red as one might expect. Pleasant tart flavour with just the right amount of cranberry. My favorite ephemere, I think.
