Chambly Noire is a smooth and creamy dark beer with a beige and persistent head. Its torrefaction aromas and slight bitterness enable it to perfectly accompany various fish dishes, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts.

3.1341ml Flasche. Dunkles Bier mit hellem Schaum. Es duftet nach Malzbund Hefe. Geschmack leicht röstig.
3.1Poured from a tap. Dark brown color, medium off white head. Sour wheat aroma. Light body with a medium tart wheat and clove flavor and a light finish.
3.0Jet black, thin short lived white head , subtle aroma licorice, roast, cola. Flavor light aromatic spiciness unibroue classic gingerbread flavors. Not enough malt complexity for the style. Just drink a maudite or trois pistoles instead.
3.7Bottle. Aroma of wheat and malt. Pours black with off-white head. Taste is medium bitter. Has a light to medium body, a thin texture that I was not expecting, and lively carbonation. Seems quite light for such a dark beer, but nice and refreshing.
4.0Brown black in color, complex, smokey, malt, yeast, dark fruit, rich, silky.
4.0Pours very dark brown, with a light coffee/chocolate taste. A little fruity, it is actually a quite accessible brew. That ubiquitous Unibroue yeast is present here, as well. Not as complex or as bold as Unibroue’s other offerings, but gratifying nevertheless! 6.2 ABV, tastes like 4.5.
3.5Dark brown pour with burgundy highlights under a lingering khaki head. Nose is caramel and plenty of dark fruit, light cloves, some banana and bread. Lightly sweet with some prune fruitiness and a light spice component and some tartness. Mouth is medium- with slightly soft carbonation. Very balanced but not exciting.
2.0Can’t remember why I disliked this one so much. Will have to rescore it one day.
3.0Very light nose with raisin and prunes. some sweet raisins, malt, light chocolate. Thin mouthfeel. good lingering dark fruits and wood.
3.1375 ml Bottle thanks to Brian. Dark brown color, thin head, light lace. Aroma is spicy with hints of dark fruit. Traces of burnt caramel. Flavor is mostly the same with a light trace of funk.
. The mouthfeel is in the medium range with standard carbonation. I feel like this is old or sat around awhile or... It was the Brewers intent with the Lees. Meh
3.312oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel popcorn, fruity esters. Flavor is caramel, fruity esters, dry oak finish.
3.4Aromas of cinnamon, clove, soft cherry. Black with a mostly fading off-white. Earthy, spicy flavors redolent of Indian spices. Medium bodied.
3.5Draft at metropolitan. Pours dark but brown with a fizzy beige head. Smells like dried dark fruits, banana, light clove, malty, sweet wheat. Tastes like raisins, wheat, banana. Light/medium body and low carbonation.
4.1It is dark brown with a light brown head. There are sweet aromas of brown sugar, sourness, and dried fruit. Barnyard flavors with a bit of sweetness and sour combined. it is dry on the palate.
3.9Distinctive smell of Unibroue’s yeast. Red berries, spices, lemon and roasted malts.
Taste is light, mineral. Very fruity (blackberry and rasberry), torrefaction, dates.
Don’t expect a smooth and round stout because of the "noire". That’s a nice strong dark ale, very drinkable and accessible. It looks like a light version of the Trois Pistoles
2.7On tap. Find this beer...odd. Nice dark pour but body didn’t follow. I know it’s an ale but expected more volume on the body. Taste was somewhat sweet with spices dark fruits notes. Not bad just different in a way it didn’t appeal too me.
3.2Pour on tap, dark brownish red pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of big anise, dark fruit, toffee into a bit of yeast, slight earthy note into a bit of grainy, husky note. Taste was a mix of grain, husk, slight dark fruit into lots of anise, dark fruits, some slight caramel, finishing fairly spicy, slightly sweet.
3.0Pour is dark, dark brown with reddish tints. Head and retention are virtually nonexistent. Nose is....surprisingly fruity, with light roasted malt, and smoke that somehow gives off faint smoked meat aromas that seem out of place. Light (and boring) yeast notes. Taste is weirdly dry, with very little sweetness, and a surprising amount of water for a 6.2% beer. It’s not unpleasant, nothing tastes off. It’s just really boring.
3.7Pours an almost opaque hazy deep mahogany witha faint reddish hue topped by a finger of creamy tanned head. Retention is pretty good and you get nice lacing. The nose is dark fruits, sweet and toasted malts. Belgian yeast bring a fruity/earthy element. The taste is light dark bread, sweet and nutty where once again, the yeasts come through fruity and earthy. The malts aren’t overpowered but they don’t express their roasted notes very strongly. Combined with a low density mouthfeel, the brew seems a little diluted but still shows a nice character.
3.4Aroma is dark fruits, rich malts and slight earthy notes. Taste is sweet roasty malts and plum plus apple notes. Finishes pretty shallow and watered down sadly. Light bitterness that finishes fairly smoothly. Appearance is a black body with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.
2.8Dark brown and almost clear. Has an off-white head. Sweet, malty aroma, some caramel notes too. Flavor starts sweet, faint yeasty notes too, faint soy.
3.0341ml Bottle.. It’s been ages since I had that one. Very dark brown color nice head but goes quickly( trappist glass) smells really belgian. Typical Unibroue yeast that I’m not so sure about in this one. Taste is a bit fruity, dark roasted malts but not much... to tell you the truth there is not much going in the taste of that beer kinda shy and watered for a 6.2% ABV. this isn’t bad but not great it could be fixed very easily, hop it up and use a different kind of yeast... average
UPDATE: drank a 3 years old bottle and the taste is pretty much the same ... this beer does not age very well. in fact it doesn’t age at all
3.1"fruit and spice in a belgian beer. not unique in that, or in it’s similarity to several other Unibroue beers, but not bad. May try it again during the summer."
3.5Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roast, caramel, dark fruit, figs, the typical Unibroue yeast, somewhat dry. Not my favorite from them, but not bad either.
3.5Quebecois-style root beer I reckon, not too shabby at all. Dark brown with plum hue and a really quickly disappearing ivory head. Sexy basement-covered-in-licorice-bubblegum aromas. Taste has some leather, burnt toffee, dark roasty malts, raisins and prunes. Some winey booziness that is not unsettling. Mid carbonation keeps this dusky drink zazzy. A pretty fun trip to Unibroueland French Beer Amusement Park. Eat some strong aged cheddar and call it a night.
3.0Bottle. Dark pour with little head. Smells of raisin and banana. Taste similar with fruits and nuts as well, a little boozy too. The colour fools you, as the body isnt that heavy along with mouth feel. It is somewhat sweet and oily texture. Not my favourite from Unibroue, but then again not my favourite type of beer either.
2.812oz bottle, from Party Town. Best before 02-21-08. Wait, 2008??? Holy crap, I have never seen a unibroue bottle this old. Almost pitch black color. Thin khaki head. Loose bits of lace. Unfortunately very little flavor to this, and some noticeable oxidization. Dark fruit, light spice, some raisin. Very dry finish, papery, musty. Medium to bigger body. Kind of soft, lighter, very dry carbonation. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Light sweet in that super dry finish, maybe. Kind of a spicy bite in the finish. Much harder to drink than I was hoping for when I grabbed this from my fridge. Pretty shit, way too damn old. Waste of $2.75. I forced it down over the course of an hour, though, so that I’d never again be tempted to by a 7 year old bottle of unibroue. 5/3/4/2/7
Rerate, on tap at Dutch’s: Dark brown color, near-black. Thin off-white head, leaving some loose bits of lace. Fades to a minimal ring. Chocolate, cocoa, moderate unibroue spiciness, hint of metallic. Little roast malt, touch of coffee. Hints of dark fruit. Medium body. Kind of crisp, sort of soft lighter carbonation, with a dry finish. Moderate bitter taste, lighter sweet. Kind of dry taste. Decent, but still a bit rough and spicier than I’d like.
3.1Unibroue Chambly Noire
I had no clue there was a Chambly Noire. Im a big fan of the Blanche.
Versus dark black pour as expexted. Pretty much no head. Distinct smell I cannot place. Thick low carbonation. Very thick. Stout like. Nutty and fruity. Raisins and plumb and more.
Its okay. Not great, butnin no way bad.
