Upland Cherry

Upland Cherry

Lambics have been made in Belgium for over 500 years and we are honoring this tradition by brewing our own Indiana version. Upland lambics are fermented by wild yeast and aged in oak casks for over a year which creates a tart, complex beer. We then add whole cherries, giving the beer enticing aromas and flavors. The beer is bottle conditioned which adds a zesty and refreshing carbonation. Upland Lambic is the perfect drink to share with friends over a plate of good cheese and fresh fruit.

3.9 Draft pour at Snallygaster 2017. Poured a hazy vibrant ruby red color with a small off-white head to it. Flavor was light sour, light woody vanilla and plenty of cherry. Cherry skin, tartness.
3.7 (En fût à Bottlecraft LI): Un nez de cannelle et pâte à tarte pour enrober un déluge de cerises. Ronde acidité et aspect bonbon de la cerise en plein essor.
3.5 on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy red amber color, off-white head that drops to a thin cover, sheets of lace. Taste is malt and sour cherry, medium fizz, and more tart to finish. Full-bodied lambic.

4.5 Bottle shared with koleminer20. I met my yearly goal for new beers tried this year on this one. Whoops. Aroma is cherry funk, sour, skins, smells a lot like 3F Oude Kriek. Appearance is hazy red, off white pink head. Taste is sour as fuck, cherry, sweet, funk, tart, skins, wow. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, wonderful cherry candy sour aftertaste. Overall, wow. This is so so good.
3.9 Bottle shared in the Ølbutikken Blåbær release queue (30/07/2017) - (in the pouring rain hence short notes) :) pours red with a white pinkish head. Aroma and taste is prominent resonating cherry fruity, cherry drops, medium sour, slight wooden nuances, tart cherry finish.
4.0 Bottle. Pours dark red with no head. Aroma of malt, sweet cherry and lots of funk. Malty flavor with cherry fruitiness before the ever-famous super-sour Upland lambic finish.
3.9 Draft to snifter at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy reddish amber color with a thin off white film. The aroma and flavor have nice tart cherry fruitiness, acidic, mineral notes, oak, a nice balance of of sweet and sour, I have had this many times but never typed it in until now, solid
4.1 Bottle:(9-14, batch J14) Pours bubbly, light cherry-red with a quick, pinkish cap. Lactic, bright cherry aroma. Taste is tart, spicy-sour cherry. Nicely dry and biting. Leaves a wonderful, almost acidic sting on the tongue. Excellent.
3.8 Bottle. Pours hazy reddish pink, very tiny off-white head, minimal lacing. Aroma is cherries, barnyard, horse blanket. Flavor is dry with light plus tartness and a medium funk. Light plus body, low carbonation. One of the good ones.
3.9 Refrigerated 75 cl brown 2014 bottle corked and capped poured into a tulip. Hazy red with medium white head. Arom is sir cherries, medium body, well effervescent carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is sour cherries.
4.3 Pour at the Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison. Just happened to be the first booth I stopped at and this was one of the nicest beers of the day for me. Massive cherry nose. Red pour. Big sourness while being super fruity and jammy. Yum.
3.4 Large shared bottle in Atlanta. Hazy reddish body with an excellent head. Aroma: funky, cherry, yeasty. Flavor: very tart and surprisingly bready. Cherries are evident, especially in the finish and early aftertaste.
3.8 750 ml bottle thanks to Will for sharing. Pinkish color in pour. Cherry and puckering tart. 4/30/15 bottle.
3.8 Bottle courtesy of a kind soul at the Tampa weekly gathering. Pours a nice hazy red-pink with a white head. Nose is big cherry, some lacto, some funk, some tartness. Flavor is similar with lovely cherry and tartness, nor extremely tart or acidic, but a nice primer to sour beer. Light to medium in body and very nic overall.
4.5 Shared at a tasting hosted by Steebo on February 13. I liked this one. The pour is a bright red/ruby color with a large pink head. The aroma is huge on cherries. I think that’s why I like it so much. The cherries dominate and then there is a great tart sourness to it. The flavor is more of the same. Heavily dominated by cherry, with a good spice in there before it goes sour and fades into a little lemon maybe. The mouth feel is good. Dry, sharp, and tart with a great carbonation. The aftertaste is a little woody, but still sour cherry. Awesome
3.9 Bottle. Deep reddish pour with a pinkish/off white head. Sour cherry aromas. Uber sour cherry notes. Good body and mouthfeel.
3.9 actually a great lambic. Good funky farm flavors. Light cherry color and aroma. Good cherry flavors. This is very nice! Thanks!
4.6 Dark pink lively carbonation. Oak tart cedar and cherries in aroma and then again in flavor. Finishes with lingering cherry notes and dry tartness.
3.8 Golden orange in colour with a large but quickly dissipating white head, light lacing, insane carbonation. Aroma is tart and sour, some cherries, lemons, good funk with an underlying sweetness. Flavour is lightly tart, lingering sourness, cherry sweetness, not overly funky. Sweet/tart mouthfeel, medium/light body, high carbonation. Finishes a little thin, sour.
3.7 Bottle at De Garde. Pours a bright reddish pink color with a medium white head. A big woody and sour cherry nose, something akin to garbage. The flavor is again a funky garbage or overripe fruit note, funky, sweet cherries, light sourness. Woody. Interesting. The nose reminds me a bit of Cantillon Don Quijote. Odd, interesting.
4.5 This one was way better than their raspberry lambic. Great cherry nose. No real head and minimal carbonation. Flavors of cheery all way through with excellent dry funk lambic palate and finish. Superb.
3.8 Bottle. Color is vibrant red with pink frothy head. Aroma is funky cherry and spice. Taste is very tart tingly carbonation and cheese.
3.6 Bottle: Rich mahogany & ruby tinted body, lavender head that fades to nothing instantly. Aroma of huge cherry skin, acidic berry, lemon, sour yogurt, lacto, & light perfume. Nice spicy cherry & berry mélange, along with a solid lemon flavor up front, fading into an exceedingly sour finish of acidic stone fruit, red grape, strong balsamic vinegar, lactic sourness, & an acetic acid sharpness. Burns a little on the way down. Good, crazy sour, strong acidity.
3.8 Sampled via bottle at WTWBA 2014 in Minneapolis. Deep murky purple pour with minimal head. Tart cherry. Acetic. Really nice brew.
3.8 Bottle during upland share. Really dark cherry aromas. Nice sour aromas, whole cherry tones. Super tart cherry, whole cherry and other tart fruit tones.
4.1 Serving: 750 ml. bottle. It pours a cloudy blood red with no real head. The nose has bright cherry notes with a nice bit of funk. The taste brings in bright, fresh dark cherry flavor, cherry skins, a bit of sweetness, and a great balancing tartness. Light on the palate with a nice clean finish. Well done.
4.1 Sample @ RBWG Grand Tasting. Amber pour with a small head. Nose is huge, full of rich cherry meat. Nice and robust. Sweet/tart profile. Loads of cherry juice, a bit of acid. A bit of cracked pepper. Light body, zippy. Legitimately great stuff here.
