Upland Dragonfly India Pale Ale

Upland Dragonfly India Pale Ale

The Upland Dragonfly IPA is a malty and hoppy brew. Note the clean malty fullness on the front of the palate with fruity citrus overtones, attributable to our special hops. Dry hopping creates a floral aroma, and our use of bittering hops lends a strong bitter taste in the back of the tongue and throat.

4.7 This is not going to be a hoity-toity follow the rules rating. I simply do believe this is my favorite beer EVER ( and I have loved many beers in my lifetime!) The citrus hops? Heavenly...just a perfect balance of everything that is good in this world! I love this beer so much that I would pick the highest number of every category, but, since perfection is fleeting and rarely attained, I’m holding back just a bit. Truthfully, I cannot find a single thing wrong with this beer...except the fact that I can’t find it by me. PLEASE come to NY!
3.6 Light amber light head. Aromas medium pine, citrus, light caramel. Flavors peach, citrus, pine. Medium bitter finish. A pretty decent ipa.
3.5 Sampled from a bottle at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. Pours orange with a thick, white head. Aromas of sweet malt and citrus. The taste has quite a sweet malt base and citrussy hops with a strongly bitter finish. Hints of pine resin and grapefruit skin. Some floral and slightly spicy notes. A nice fruity and refreshingly bitter IPA. A little sweeter than I like, but not bad at all. Highly drinkable.
3.4 Very nice aroma of citrus and piney hops. Appearance is cloudy and a diluted rust orange. Taste is a collection of muddled flavors, hops mixed with caramel malt. Could be balanced better. Carbonation is kind of harsh. Overall, a decent ipa, but in a category that is saturated with great ipas, this one doesn’t stand out.
3.2 bottle. Amber with one finger head. Medium+ caramel malt body -- definitely maltier than I prefer for the style. Moderate hops, though somewhat undistinct. Balanced, but on the boring side.
2.9 Not a bad IPA. Mostly pine with some lingering citrus. Pours light orange with a thick white head. Tried at the Indy airport in 2016 with Matt and Guy.
3.2 Tap. Pours clear pale copper, small beige head, good lacing. Aroma is really light, hints of pine and grapefruit. Flavor is light plus sweet, light plus bitter, muted flavor profile with pine and grapefruit hops, Bready malt hints of caramel. Medium body. NondeScript, but not flawed
3.4 Bottle - average size head, medium copper color, good size citrus and pine hop aroma and flavor, fair bready malt backbone, juicy resiny finish, pretty good overall
3.4 Pours a cloudy amber-copper, with mid-sized head. Aroma of pine, grass, some citrus. Flavor fairly sweet, with balanced mix between the hops and malt. Nice citrus and pine flavors. Good burger accompaniment.
3.3 Amber copper pour, translucent, minimal head. Light soapy pine, moderate bitterness, medium to full body.
3.5 Slightly Hazy Brownish Orange Color, Big Foamy Head That Lasts And Leaves Lots Of Lacing. Surprisingly Just a Very Faint Aroma of Pine and Citrus. Malt, Resin, Pine, Bitter Hops. Strong and Long Lasting Bitter Aftertaste with very light Sweetness at the end. Enjoyed It. Nice. Recommended.
2.3 Light. More refreshing than flavorful. Smooth. With a lot of un met potential. Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a shaker
3.2 A descent ipa but nothing really special. Good and citrusy with a nice nose. Still a darn good beer.
3.3 Better at colder temperatures. Hops there but not so tasty and balanced. Still drinkable. Can on the current roadtrip.
2.7 Floral, ctirus, and honey in the aroma; dull pale amber color with a fleeting off-white head; some almond and caramel maltiness, very floral (almost perfumy), some melon-like fruitiness, and a raw bitterness in the finish taht I just don’t like; medium body, smooth; okay, not great; I’ve never really cared for this beer... the hop flavor profile is okay, but the bitterness flavor just isn’t good and seems incongruous with the flavors of the beer.
2.8 Pours slightly hazy amber with a decent buff head. Aroma is not strong, but has a nice come-hither resiny hoppy note. Hops are noticeably bolder in the flavor, pulling resin, citrus and malty tones in their wake for a decent if unremarkable IPA taste. Mouthfeel has decent body and fizz, leaving a hoppy if typical finish. A good party brew.
3.4 Draft. Copper color with a small white head. Caramel and pine hops. Flavored were a little bit muted, but very good nonetheless.
3.7 29 June 2015, bottle. orange, clear, no bubbles. nose is pine and grass hops, melon, sweet granola malt. thin body and mildly fizzy. mild resin, grapefruit rind, floral, granola malt, moderate bitter finish. very nice.
3.7 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The Dragonfly IPA pours a partly cloudy copper with a thick creamy beige head that lasts throughout the duration of the beer. The aroma is floral and citrus with caramel although mild. The flavor is floral and citrus with caramel as well with the floral hanging on in the aftertaste. Overall this is a decent beer.
3.0 At Yard house. Decent all around IPA. Not a hophead dream but enough to get the job done and be accessible to non-IPA lovers. Serving: Tap
4.4 At pivni in York. Full bodied, hoppy, citrusy, fruity. A really decent ipa..........
3.0 I’m traveling in Indiana, and enjoying local beers. This one is from a bottle, hazy orange yellow pour with a small head. Aroma is citrus and fruit, with some caramel in there, too. Taste is the same. Not much sweetness, rather dry. Slick mouthfeel, as it should be. Gentle carbonation.
3.2 Amber pour with a tan head. Aroma is fruity hops. Taste is light sweet malt, fruity hops. So-so lacing.
3.3 Best by April 2015. Glass: New Belgium globe glass. Appearance: Hazy amber body with a short foamy head that quickly dissipates to a soft coating. Aroma: Bready caramel malts with light perfume hop aromas with citrus also noted. Mild and inoffensive. Taste: Taste follows the aroma, malt forward with bready and caramel malts. Mild floral hop bitterness with grapefruit and oranges noted. Palate: Medium bodied, mildly carbonated. Overall: A pretty basic IPA. Sits entry level really, but for the price I can’t really complain.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a hazy, orangey-gold smallish head. Nose is candied citrus peel, caramel, grass. Mouth is medium bittersweet, big syrupy backbone accented by unremarkable hops, an equally boring finish (c’mon.... this is so 4 years ago). Average is a generous adjective for this one.
2.9 Pour on tap at the brewery, clear orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grass, floral, and herbal notes, hints of some slight orange, touch of biscuit, bread.  Taste is a mix of grass, bread, slight orange peel, some caramel, finishing slightly bitter.
3.8 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, don’t usually buy beer without the alcohol content printed on the label but took a chance and was not disappointed. Nice pine and hop taste, goes down smooth, and packs a little punch. Will try more upland products when I see them.
2.8 Words and stuff and words and stuff and words and stuff and words and stuff and words and stuff and words and stuff
3.2 Slightly sweet IPA, with lemon, verbena, pale malts and a short but punchy finish.
3.4 Draft - Caramel and grapefruit. Clear copper with a nice white head. Caramel and light pine hops. Light on hold, more malt forward. Still decent.
