3.3Pours a cloudy amber color with a thin white head. Interesting aroma of oranges and leather. Good flavor of oranges, yeast and leather, sadly, there seems to be traces of a mild oxydation, it feels like wet cardboard but it’s not a dominating element.. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Not bad but this could be the weak link in the Urthel chain.
3.0amber coloured with light cabonation body and a off white head and a spicy hoppy aroma a sweet bitter taste and a light bitter alcoholic finich
3.4bottle. Hazy amber, with a moderate sized off-white head. Aroma of malt, spive, yeast and some hops. Sweet toffee flavor, with some dried fruit and pepper in the finish. Finishes sweet. Interesting.
3.5Bottle at home. Another wonderful Urthel ale. Strong head, orange creamy colour. Citrusy aroma. Sweet, fruity and citrusy flavours. Generous mouthfeel, really enjoyable to drink.
3.1Bottle. Typical Belgian strong, yeasty and alcoholic. This also had some sweet caramel and also citrus in the finish. Lighttly floral. Not so bad.
2.7A Mes rate:
Bottle at Chrisfest. Just can’t get into this brewery at all. They are all way too carbed for me. Very sweet and matly beer lacking in finesse.
2.8ChrisFest Creamy carbonation. Sweet. Rather thin.. Malty with a bitter twist. Run of the mill beer. Undistinguished.
3.2Bottled at Chris_O Fest March 2007. A very hazy light brown coloured beer. The aroma is yeasty with spicy hop notes also. The taste is spicy and yeasty with good hits of alcohol. Too much carbonation. An OK beer but no more.
4.275cL bottle, aged for two years. Orange-amber color with a most incredible head and lacing. Caramel, sweet aroma, Caramel flavors mix in well with the bitterness to make a very drinkable potion. Creamy texture. The carbonation delivers yeasty and sweet aromas but does not deter one from taking generous swallows.
2.7Hazy amber color with a large head. Fruity aroma and taste but leaves a bitter grapefruit flavor I don’t like.
3.5(bottle) Hazy orange-amber colour with a giant rocky foamy off-white head. Slightly sweet toast-malty and delicate fruity aroma with liquorice and distinctive herbal, resiny hoppy notes. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, lively carbonation. Toast-malty, yeasty fruity (citrus, red berries) taste; lasting malty finish with a blend of herbal hops. The alcohol is well integraded.
3.3Lightly hazed orange ale with a thick creamy off white head. In aroma, grapefruit pulp, oxidized malt, same cave notes. In mouth, a murkey maderized malt with light honey notes. A bit of orange peels develop as beer warms up. Medium bodied. Shared with Beerbuzzmtl. Merci Denis.
3.0A bit spicy in aroma and taste; subtle chocolate notes. Body is a bit thin. Sligthly sour and a bit too yasty for my taste
3.6Bottle. Amber with a large fluffy head and yeast floaties. Aromas are banana, yeast and spices with caramel and hints of citrus. Flavours are yeasty with bitter lemon and spices. Light caramel malts with a dry, bitter finish. Great "foam in the mouth" palate. Very good.
3.6Bottle from Bier Temple, Brussels. Classic amber colour with soapy white head. Nice lacing. Smells of banana nut bread. Hints of caramel and yeast. Yeasty, banana taste. Clean and crisp. Brief saltiness. Abrubt finish. Easy, interesting drink.
3.7Bottle. Brown-amber colour with an average off-white head and some carbonation. Sweeter yeasty aroma, light fruity, raisins, roasted caramel. Full body, some light sprankling. Finish is light bitter, with some very light sweet-alcoholic touches.
3.7From a caged corked 750 ml. bottle with a coded bottled date on the back label, sampled at a cellar temperature in a chalice.
Poured a cloudy orange hued amber with a foamy, bubbly topped off-white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing.
Aromas of tropical fruits and apples, clove and spice, very herbal and a sweet, lightly grainy maltiness.
Good carbonation and a crisp, softly dry and tart, smooth carbonated light bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant tasting and quaffable, good drinkability, clove and musty yeast, banana and pineapple tart fruitiness, hop spicy and herbal, soft in it’s bitterness, doesn’t interfere with the malty crispness, the alcohol becomes noticeable towards the end, ends warming in the palate, and a dry yeasty, herbal and sweet malty finish.
A good strong ale from Urthel, tasty and balanced, the right of carbonation and body for the style, well worth trying.
3.1Bottle. High off-white head. Hazy orange body. Fruity alcohol aroma. Heavily carbonated dry malt aroma with fruity aftertaste.
3.6Nice cloudy amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is caramely and toffee like with a slight hoppy malty taste.
2.7Bottle. Golden in colour with a rather large white head. Malty with a touch of caramel. Also has a vegie feel along with some notes of fruits.
2.825.4oz bottle: Pours a huge head, white, big bubbles. Cloudy color, amber yellow-brownish. Strong floral aroma, some dark fruit, not much else. Floral watery taste, not much other flavors. Some alcohol, but mostly watery.
3.0Leather, mild fresh vegetables, earthy, salty, musty yet sweet aroma. Hazy, deep golden coloured body is topped by a low, off white head that recedes to partial cover. Peaches, apricots, marzipan and doughy yeast flavours are offset by earthy and herbal hop character with moderate bitterness. Lasting sweetness in the aftertaste. Yeast seems to take up too much room. Dry medium body with moderate carbonation. Bottle sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Siroy.
3.6Brown-amber coloured with an average off-white head and some carbonation. Sweeter yeasty aroma, light fruity (some raisins). Little roasted caramel aroma. Full body, some light sprankling. Finish is light bitter, with some very light sweet-alcoholic touches. Very nice one.
3.5Bottle, Københavnske Øldage 2006. Cloudy light brown with a tall off-white head. Caramelly-sugary aroma. Lightly alcoholic with a hoppy backbone. High in carbonation. Rather thin-bodied, but has a hoppy finish.
3.4Bottle. Hazy amber colour with a huge foamy white head. Sweet, malty, yeasty, fruity and caramel aroma. Flavours the same. Quite light with a softly carbonated mouthfeel. Nice.
3.2Bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy brownish/amber color. Big foamy head. Aroma consists of citrus, yeast and some slight floral presence. Taste is yeasty and malty, with a little sweetness and some balancing sour notes. A nice beer, yet unremarkable. I enjoyed the Samaranth much more.
3.9Bottled. Served by the brewer. Lightly hazy golden beer. Malty, sweet aroma with hops and caramel. The flavor is much the same, and some alcohol notes is present. Sweet body. (060328)
3.3somewhat unappetizing for a belgian strong...amber with huge white head...aroma of sugars, fruits, and caramel...flavor is earthy, and has some sort of acidic and dry characteristics...it is unfortunately missing the fruit and malt characteristics...somewhat watered down, and has some lemon or herbal characteristics as well....okay palate
3.1Cloudy amber shade that wears a nice foamy off-white head, 1cm tall and completely lasting. Once again, a nose that shows a bit more ascorbic acid that desirable, with its tomato and hummus smells. Light vinegar component, earthy and leathery, yeast dominated and in a mostly sweet manner. More of the same in mouth, unfocused vague and unstable yeast flavours accentuate the malt timidity despite its okay texture. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
